あなたは、年が若いために人に軽んじられてはならない。むしろ、言葉にも、行状にも、愛にも、信仰にも、純潔にも、信者の模範になりなさい。テモテ第一章４：１２ Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.  1 Timothy 4:12 Paul’s instructions to his missionary companion, Timothy, he gives important instructions.  These instructions apply not just to Timothy. They apply to us today.  パウロが宣教師の同僚であったテモテに大切な指示を与えました。これはテモテだけでなく今日の私たちにも当てはまる大切なものです。 Paul lists a number of character traits that he encourages Timothy to develop and to follow.  Like Timothy, we are trying to become better followers of Jesus Christ. しかし見よ、わたしはただの人であり、このように願うことさえも罪である。わたしは主から与えられたもので満足すべきだからである。アルマ２９：３ But behold, I am a man, and do sin in my wish; for I ought to be content with the things which the Lord hath allotted unto me.  Alma 29:3 This interesting scripture follows a few verses after Alma’s famous “O that I were an angel” scripture.  In that scripture, Alma wishes that he could “speak with the trump of God” and “cry repentance unto every people”. この興味深い聖句はアルマが「おお、わたし​が​天使​で​あって」と述べている良く知られた聖句の何節か後に出てきます。その聖句でアルマは「神​の​ラッパ​の​よう​に​」「すべて​の​民​に​悔改め​を​叫ぶ」ことが出来たらと心のうちを明かしています。 This is a very righteous wish.  Alma wants to preach the gospel to everyone and to help everyone come unto Christ.  He recognizes that his own talents and abilities are not adequate for the task of preaching the gospel to everyone.   とても正しく素晴らしい望みです。アルマは全ての人に福音を延べ伝えて彼らがキリストの元に来れるよう望みました。しかし、彼自身の才能や能力では福音を全ての人に延べ伝える作業は無理だと理解していました。 So he wishes that he could have “super powers”.  He wishes that he could be an angel.
