わたしが語ったこれらのことを信じる者に、わたしはわたしの御霊の示しを与えるので、その者は知って、証を述べるであろう。わたしの御霊のゆえに、その人はこれらのことが真実であることを知るであろう。わたしの御霊は、善を行うように人々を促すからである。イテル書４：１１

But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, him will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record.  For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good.  Ether 4:11

This is an interesting scripture with several important points.  

この興味深い聖句には幾つか大切なポイントがあります。

Ether explains what the blessings and responsibilities are for those who believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  He says he is writing to “he that believeth these things which I have spoken”.  Since we all believe in Jesus Christ, Ether is speaking to each of us.

イテルはイエス・キリストの福音を信じる者の祝福と責任が何なのか説明しています。彼は「わたしが語ったこれらのことを信じる者」に語っていると述べています。ですからエテルはイエス・キリストを信じている私たち一人一人にも語っているのです。

There are several blessings mentioned in this scripture that will come to those who believe.  

この聖句は信じる者が享受するいくつかの祝福について触れています。

First of all, the Lord promises that “I will visit him with the manifestations of my Spirit”.  This means that we will be lead by the Spirit of the Lord.  It means that we will be taught true principles by the Spirit of the Lord.  It means that we will be guided in our decisions by the Spirit of the Lord.  

まず最初に「わたしはわたしの御霊の示しを与える」と主は約束されています。つまり私たちは主の御霊に導かれると言うことです。主の御霊により真の原則を教わり、主の御霊により進むべき方向に導かれると言うことです。

Next, Ether says that “he shall know”.  This means that we will have a testimony of the truth of the gospel.  It means that we will know right from wrong.  It means that we will know what to do.

次にエテルは「そのものは知る」と言っています。つまり福音が真実だという証を得ると言うことです。善と悪を見分け、すべき事がわかると言う事です。

Ether repeats this important principle again, saying “for because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true”.  

エテルは「私の御霊のゆえに、その人はこれらのことが真実であることを知るであろう」と、この重要な原則を繰り返し述べています。

How did you gain a testimony of the gospel?  How did you learn that these things are true? 

あなたはどのようにして福音の証を強めましたか？どのようにしてそれが真実だと知りましたか？

You received a testimony by learning about the gospel, by studying the scriptures, and by praying for a testimony.  The Spirit of the Lord then confirmed to you that these things are true.

福音について学び、聖典を研究し、証しを得るよう祈ることで証を受けました。また主の御霊がそれらが真実だという確証を与えてくれたのです。

We are also told in this scripture about one responsibility that we have.  We are told that we must “bear record” of the things we know to be true.  

またこの聖句は私たちの持つ一つの責任について教えています。それは真実だと知っている事がらについて証を述べねばならないと言うことです。

This means we need to bear our testimonies often.  We need to bear our testimonies in Fast and Testimony meetings.  Have you done that lately?  

それは自分の証を時に応じて述べる必要があります。また断食証会で証を述べるべきです。あなたは最近そうしましたか？

We need to bear our testimonies in the classes that we teach and to the families that we home teach or visit teach.  Have you done that lately?

自分が教えるクラスやホームティーチング、家庭訪問する家族に証を述べる必要があります。あなたは最近そうしましたか？

By fulfilling the responsibility to bear our testimony about the things we know are true, we will be able to receive the “manifestations of my Spirit” as promised by the Lord.

真実だと知っていることについて証しする責任を全うする事で、主が約束されているように「私の御霊の示し」を受けることができるのです。

Let’s do a better job of bearing our testimonies.  Let’s remember the responsibility that we have been given by the Lord to “bear record” of the truthfulness of the gospel.  Let’s help others gain a testimony of the gospel by being willing to share our testimony often.

もっとよく自分の証を伝えましょう。福音の真実性を証しするという責任を主から受けている事を忘れないようにしましょう。自分の証をもっと分かち合いたい望むことで他の誰かが福音の証を得るお手伝いをしましょう。
