主はこのように言う。すなわち、主なるわたしは、わたしを畏れる者に憐れみ深くかつ恵み深く、また最後まで義をもって真理にかなってわたしに仕える者に誉れを与えるのを喜びとする。彼らの受ける報いは大きく、彼らの栄光は永遠である。教義と聖約７６：５－６
For thus saith the Lord — I, the Lord, am merciful and gracious unto those who fear me, and delight to honor those who serve me in righteousness and in truth unto the end. Great shall be their reward and eternal shall be their glory. D&C 76:5-6
In Section 76 of the Doctrine & Covenants, the Lord gives us the promise of a great blessing. This blessing gives us hope as we face the trials and struggles of this mortal life.
教義と聖約76 章で主は大きな祝福を約束してくださっています。この祝福は私たちがこの地上で試練や苦難に遭遇するときに希望を与えてくれます。
This life is hard. We all know that. We all experience that. We all have trials and challenges. We all have our own struggles.
人生が楽でないことを私たちの誰もが経験して良く知っています。誰もが試練やチャレンジを経験し、誰もがそれぞれが抱える問題と格闘しています。
As we try to go forward each day, carrying those burdens and facing those trials, it is easy for us to forget why we are here. We knew that this life was going to be difficult. We knew that this life was going to be a hard test of our faith. We knew that this life was not going to be easy.
私たちはこうした重荷を背負い、こうした試練に直面しながら毎日前進しようとする時、何故自分がここにいるのか容易に忘れてしまいます。この世が困難であり、信仰の難しいテストであることを私たちは知っていました。この世は楽ではないことを私たちは知っていました。
But we also knew that experiencing these trials is the only way that our faith can grow. It is the only way that we can learn to trust in God. It is the only way that we can learn to be more like our Savior.
しかし、こうした試練を経験することが私たちの信仰を強める唯一の道であることも知っていました。神を信頼することを学べる唯一の道であり、より救い主に近づくことを学べる唯一の道なのです。
We also knew that we would not be left alone. We knew that we would have prophets and apostles to teach us. We knew that we would have bishops and Relief Society presidents to help us. We knew that we would have the Holy Ghost to guide us.
私たちは一人ぼっちではないことも知っていました。私たちを教えてくれる預言者や使徒が与えられることも知っていました。私たちを助けてくれるビショップや扶助協会の会長会も与えられることを知っていました。私たちを導いてくれる聖霊が与えられることを知っていました。
We knew that we would have commandments given to us to show us how to receive blessings. Every commandment that has been given to us comes with a promised blessing. The Lord always keeps his word. When we do our best to obey a commandment, the Lord sends the promised blessings.
祝福がどうやって受けれるのか教えてくれる戒めが与えられることも知っていました。私たちに与えられるすべての戒めには約束された祝福が伴っています。主はいつも約束を守られます。最善を尽くして戒めを守る時、主は約束された祝福を送ってくださいます。
The Lord knows each one of us. We are all sons and daughters of Heavenly parents who love us very much and who want us to be happy.
主は私たち一人一人をご存知です。私たちは皆、私たちをとても愛し幸せになってほしいと願っておられる天の両親の息子、娘なのです。
As we keep the commandments, we please the Lord. As we try to do better, we please the Lord. As we go forward with faith, in spite of our trials, we please the Lord.
戒めを守ることで私たちは主を喜ばせるのです。より良くなろうと努力することで私たちは主を喜ばせるのです。試練にも関わらず信仰をもって前進することで私たちは主を喜ばせるのです。
The Lord promises great blessings to those “who serve me in righteousness and in truth”. The Lord promises that he will be “merciful and gracious” to those who obey his words. The Lord says he “delights to honor those who serve me”.
主は「義をもって真理にかなってわたしに仕える者に」素晴らしい祝福を約束しておられます。主の言葉に従うものに「憐れみ深くかつ恵み深く」あると主は約束しておられます。主は「わたしに仕える者を喜びとする」と言われています。
What is the promised blessing?
約束された祝福とは何でしょう。
The Lord says, “Great shall be their reward and eternal shall be their glory”.
主は「彼らの受ける報いは大きく、彼らの栄光は永遠である」と言われています。
What greater blessing could we receive than that?
それ以上の祝福があるでしょうか？
As we go forward, day by day, through the trials and struggles of this life, let’s remember this great promise from the Lord. Let’s remember the great rewards that lay in store for us, if we endure to the end. Let’s remember to serve the Lord “in righteousness and truth” always. Let’s be worthy to receive the great and eternal glory promised to the faithful.
この世で試練や苦難の中にあって毎日前に向かって進むときこの主の約束を忘れないようにしましょう。最後まで耐え忍ぶとき私たちのために用意された報いがあることを忘れないようにしましょう。「義をもって真理にかなって」主に仕えることを忘れないようにしましょう。忠実な者に約束された偉大な永遠の栄光を受けれるようふさわしくありましょう。
