なぜなら、わたしたちは皆、キリストのさばきの座の前にあらわれ、善であれ悪であれ、自分の行ったことに応じて、それぞれ報いをうけねばらないからである。

コリント人への第二の手紙５：１０

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.  

2 Corinthians 5:10

この聖句で、パウロは裁きの日の確実性について思い起こさせています。パウロは以前、コリントの教会員に宛てた手紙の中で復活の教義について教えました。コリント人への手紙15章22節で、パウロは「アダムにあってすべての人が死ぬように、キリストにあってすべての人が生かされる」と教えています。

In this verse, Paul reminds us about the certainty of the judgment day.  In one of his previous letters to the members of the Church in Corinth, Paul taught them about the doctrine of the resurrection.  In 1 Corinthians 15:22, Paul teaches us “for as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive”.

復活は、この地上に生きるすべての人、そしてこれから生きるすべての人への無償の贈り物です。復活を「得る」ために何かを行う必要はありません。誰もが復活します。私たちは皆、天父の愛する娘か息子であり、私たちの霊は永遠のものです。私たちの死すべき肉体はやがて（朽ちて？）消耗して死にますが、私たちの霊は決して死ぬことはありません。

The resurrection is a free gift to everyone who has ever or will ever live on the earth.  No one has to do anything to “earn” resurrection.  Everyone will be resurrected.  We are all beloved daughters or sons of Heavenly Father and our spirits are eternal. Although our mortal body does eventually wear out and die, our spirit can never die. 

生きる価値がないほど辛い人生だと感じ、自ら命を絶った人々のことを思うと悲しい限りです。死んだ後、何も変わっていないことを知って、彼らはとても驚くに違いありません。彼らは今までと変わらす、ただ、学び、経験を積む機会を失っただけなのです。

It is sad to think of those individuals who felt that life was so terrible that it was not worth living, and who took their own life.  They must have been very surprised to find out that nothing really changed.  They were still the same person that they had always been.  They had just cut short their opportunity to learn and to gain experience.

アミュレクはゾーラム人に、「現世は人が神にお会いする用意をする時期である。まことに、現世の生涯は、人が各自の務めを果たす時期である」（アルマ34:32）と教えています。

Amulek taught the Zoramites that “this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors” (Alma 34:32).

私たちは皆、この地球上である一定の時間を与えられています。それはほんの数分かもしれませんし、何十年かもしれません。誰も、自分がいつまでこの死すべき世にとどまることを許されているかは分かりません。預言者や使徒たちは、アダムの時代から今まで時間を賢く使うよう繰り返し警告してきました。

We are all given a fixed amount of time here on earth.  It may only be a few minutes or it may be many decades.  None of us knows how long we will be allowed to remain here in mortality.  Prophets and apostles since the days of Adam have repeatedly warned us to use our time wisely.  

この短い死すべき人生は、私たちの永遠の存在のごく一部に過ぎませんが、この世での私たちの行いが、永遠を通じて私たちの幸福のレベルを決定するのです。

This brief mortal life is only a very short part of our eternal existence, but our actions here will determine our level of happiness throughout the eternities.  

サタンは、私たちの行動には何の影響もないと信じ込ませようと懸命に働いています。サタンは、私たちが皆、いつか主のみ前に立ち、この地上での私たちの行いと人生を見直さなければならないという確実な事実を忘れさせようとします。そして、後で悔い改める時間はいくらでもあると信じ込ませようとするのです。

Satan works very hard to convince us that there will be no consequences for our actions.  He wants us to forget about the certainty that we will all have to stand before the Lord someday and review our actions and our lives here on earth. He wants to trick us into believing that there will be plenty of time to repent later on.

変えることのできない事実がふたつあります。ひとつは、私たちがいつまでこの地上にいられるかわからないということです。もうひとつは、私たちは皆、この地上にいる間の行いを裁かれるために、主の前に立たなければならないということです。

There are two facts that cannot be changed.  One fact is that we do not know how long we will be able to stay here on earth.  The second fact is that we will all have to stand before the Lord to be judged on our actions while we were here on earth.

福音の「幸福の計画」はとてもシンプルなものです。永遠の幸福を手に入れる方法を理解するのは簡単です。私たちは、イエス・キリストとその福音について学ぶ必要があります。神への信仰を持ち、罪を悔い改める必要があります。バプテスマを受け、正しい神権の権能の下で聖霊の賜物を受ける必要があります。主の神殿でのみ受けられる救いの儀式を受ける資格を得る必要があります。生涯にわたって聖約の道をしっかりと歩む必要があります。

The gospel Plan of Happiness is very simple.  It is easy to understand how we can obtain happiness for all eternity.  We need to learn about Jesus Christ and his gospel.  We need to have faith in God and repent of our sins.  We need to be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost under proper priesthood authority.  We need to qualify ourselves to receive the ordinances of salvation that are available only in the Temples of the Lord.  We need to stay firmly on the covenant path for the rest of our lives.

新しい週が始まります。この世での時間は限られていることを忘れないようにしましょう。私たち一人ひとりが主のみ前に立ち、この人生での時間と行いを裁かれなければならない時が来ることを覚えていましょう。戒めを守り、聖約の道をしっかりと歩むために日々最善を尽くして過ごしましょう。

As we go through this week, let’s remember that our time here is limited.  Let’s remember that there will come a time when we will each need to stand before the Lord and be judged for our time and our actions here in this life.  Let’s do our best to keep the commandments and to stay firmly on the covenant path every day.
