終わりの日に次のことが起こる。主の家の山は、もろもろの山のかしらとして堅く立ち、もろもろの峰よりも高くそびえ、すべて国はこれに流れてき、多くの民は来て言う、「さあ、われわれは主の山に登り、ヤコブの神の家へ行こう。彼はその道をわれわれに教えられる、われわれはその道に歩もう」と。律法はシオンから出、主の言葉はエルサレムから出るからである。イザヤ２:２−３

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.  And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.  Isaiah 2:2-3

The book of Isaiah is one of the most important books of the Old Testament.  

イザヤ書は、旧約聖書の中で最も重要な書の一つです。

During the Savior’s appearance to the Nephites, he commands the people to “search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah” (3 Nephi 23:1).  

救い主がニーファイ人に現れたとき、人々に次のように命じられました。「これらのことを熱心に調べるようにという戒めを、あなたがたに与える。イザヤの言葉はまことに偉大だからである」（第３ニーファイ23：1）。

In the Book of Mormon, in 2 Nephi, Nephi included many entire chapters from the book of Isaiah in his record.  (It is also interesting to note that among the records that are called the Dead Sea Scrolls, the people of Qumran included more writings from Isaiah than from any other book of the Old Testament.)

ニーファイはモルモン書の 第２ ニーファイでイザヤ書の多くの章を記録に納めました。 (死海文書と呼ばれる記録の中で、クムランの人々が、旧約聖書の他のどの書よりも多くイザヤ書を含めたことに注目するのも興味深いことです。)

In selecting a particular verse from Isaiah to use as a Sunday Scripture, the challenge is not finding a powerful scripture, but rather trying to choose which of the many powerful scriptures to write about.

今回、イザヤ書からどの聖句を選んで説明するかを決めるのは簡単ではありませんでした。何故なら力強い聖句を探そうとしても、すべてが力強い聖句だからです。

In this scripture, Isaiah foresees the great work of the restoration of the gospel in our own day.  He sees the Temple that will be built “in the top of the mountains”.  He sees people from many nations of the world coming there to be taught the word of God.  He sees those people walking in the covenant path.

この聖句で、イザヤは現代における福音の回復という偉大な業を予見しています。彼は「山のかしら」に建てられる神殿を見ています。世界の多くの国の人々が神の言葉を学ぶためにそこに来るのを見ています。また、それらの人々が聖約の道を歩いているのを見ています。

This prophecy clearly shows us that the gospel is not just something that happened in our day.  It shows us that the gospel has been on the earth since the beginning.  It shows us that the Lord spoke to his prophets in ancient times and showed them the things that would happen in the last days.

この預言は、福音が私たちの時代にだけ与えられたものでないことを明確に示しています。福音が最初から地上にあったことを示しています。主が古代の預言者たちに語りかけ、終わりの日に起こることを彼らに示しています。

Today, we have a Temple in “the top of the mountains”.  People from all nations of the world come to be taught the gospel.  The law of the Lord does come from Zion.

今日、私たちには「山のかしら」に神殿があります。世界のあらゆる国の人々が福音を教わるためにやって来ます。主の律法はシオンから出てきます。

All this brings to mind General Conference.  People from all over the world come to Salt Lake to be taught by apostles and prophets.  The word of the Lord goes forth from General Conference to all the world.  It is a great blessing to live in the time when this prophecy of Isaiah has been fulfilled.  

これらすべては総大会を思い起こさせます。使徒や預言者から教えを受けるために世界中から人々がソルトレークにやって来ます。主の言葉は、総大会から全世界に伝えられます。このイザヤの預言が成就した時代に生きていることは大きな祝福です。

As we study the book of Isaiah, we will be taught many things.  We will be taught about the prophecies concerning the birth of the Savior.  We will be taught about the destruction of Jerusalem.  We will be taught about the restoration of the gospel in the last days.

イザヤ書を研究するとき、私たちは多くのことを学びます。私たちは救い主の誕生に関する預言について学びます。エルサレムの滅びについて学びます。終わりの日における福音の回復について学びます。

Let’s be diligent in our study of Isaiah.  Let’s read, ponder, and pray about the things that Isaiah has written.  Let’s remember that the Lord revealed all these things to his prophet for our benefit.  Let’s remember that, just like the prophet Isaiah, President Russell M. Nelson is the Lord’s prophet today.  Let’s always “walk in his paths”.  Great are the words of Isaiah.

イザヤ書を熱心に研究することをお勧めします。イザヤが書いた事柄を読み，深く考え，祈りましょう。主は私たちを愛されており、預言者にこれらすべてのことを明らかにされたことを忘れないでください。預言者イザヤと同じように、ラッセル・M・ネルソン大管長が今日の主の預言者であることを心に留めていましょう。常に「主の道を歩み」ましょう。 イザヤの言葉は素晴らしいです。
