わたしは、今あなたがたに一つの戒めを与える。自分自身について気をつけ、永遠の命の言葉を熱心に心に留めるようにしなさい。あなたがたは、神の口からでる一つ一つの言葉に従って生きなければならないからである。教義と聖約８４：４３−４４

And I now give unto you a commandment to beware concerning yourselves, to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life.  For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God. D&C 84:43-44

This weekend is General Conference.  This weekend, we will be taught the word of God by His prophets and apostles.  This weekend, we will be given the words that proceed forth from the mouth of God.

今週は総大会です。神のみ言葉を預言者や使徒から教わり、神の口から出る一つ一つの言葉を聞けるのです。

What will we do?

では私たちは何をしたらよいのでしょう？

Will we prepare ourselves spiritually to listen to the messages that will be delivered during the Conference?

大会で述べられるメッセージを聴くために貴方は霊的に準備するでしょうか？

Will we do our best to watch and listen to as much of General Conference as we can?

私たちは総大会を視聴するために最善を尽くすでしょうか？

Will we value the opportunity to listen to prophets and apostles more than the opportunity to do something else?

預言者や使徒から聴く機会を他の事をするより重要だと理解しているでしょうか？

In the 84th Section of the Doctrine & Covenants, the Lord gives us a commandment.  

教義と聖約84章で主はある戒めを与えておられます。

The commandment says, first, “to beware concerning yourselves”.  This is a warning to us that we must be careful with our spiritual lives.  

その戒めではまず「自分自身について気をつけ」るよう述べています。これは私たちの生活の霊的な面を注意するようにという私たちへの警告です。

We need to beware of the temptations of Satan.  We need to beware of temptations to stop reading our scriptures.  We need to beware of temptations to not pray.

私たちはサタンの誘惑に気を付ける必要があります。聖典を読むのを止める誘惑に気を付ける必要があります。お祈りを止める誘惑に気を付ける必要があります。

Next, the commandment says we must “give heed to the words of eternal life”.  

次に戒めでは「永遠の命の言葉を熱心に心に留めるよう」述べています。

Where do we find the “words of eternal life”?  We find them in the scriptures. We find them in the messages of General Conference.  We find them in the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

「永遠の命の言葉」は何処で見つかるでしょう？聖典の中で見つかります。総大会のメッセージの中でも見つかります。聖霊の促しの中でも見つかります。

Finally, the commandment says we must “live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God”.

最後に戒めでは「神の口から出る一つ一つの言葉に従って生きなければならない」と述べています。

For much of human history, it has been very difficult for people to find the word of God.  For much of human history, there has not been a prophet on the earth. For much of human history, people have had to struggle along in the dark, without the word of God to guide them.

長い間神のみ言葉を見つけるのはとても困難なことでした。長い間神の預言者が地上にはいませんでした。長い間人々は導きとなる神の御言葉のない中、暗闇の中で苦しみもがいてきました。

Even in the early part of this Dispensation, communication methods were very primitive.  Unless you lived near Salt Lake City and could attend General Conference, it might be weeks or even months before you could learn what had been taught.

今の時代の初期ですら情報交換の方法はとても原始的なものでした。ソルトレーク市の近郊に住んでいて総大会に出席できなければそこで教えられた事を学べるのは数週間から数か月かかりました。

Today, with the miracles of modern technology, we have the great blessing of being able to participate in General Conference from any place on the earth and in almost any language.  

現在では今日の近代的な技術という奇跡のおかげで私たちはこの地上のどこにいようと、またどんな言語であろうと総大会に参加できる素晴らしい祝福にあずかっています。

We can watch the messages of Conference as they are delivered.  We can watch the messages of Conference over and over again on the Church web page.  We can read and study the messages of General Conference in the Ensign and in the Liahona.  

私たちは大会で伝えられるメッセージをそのまま見ることが出来ます。私たちは大会のメッセージを教会のウェブサイトで何度でも見ることが出来ます。私たちは総大会のメッセージをEnsign やリアホナで読み研究することが出来ます。

Let’s do our best to “give diligent heed to the words of eternal life”.  Let’s live by “every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God”. Let’s show our love for the Lord by diligently studying the messages of General Conference.

最善を尽くして「永遠の命の言葉を熱心に心に留めるよう」にしましょう。「神の口から出る一つ一つの言葉に従って」生きるようにしましょう。総大会のメッセージを熱心に研究することで私たちの主への愛を示しましょう。
