神は不義なかたではないから、あなたがたの働きや、あなたがたがかつて聖徒に仕え、今もなお仕えて、御名のために示してくれた愛を、お忘れになることはない。 ヘブル人への手紙６：１０

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.   Hebrews 6:10

パウロが送ったヘブル人への手紙は、現存する他の手紙とは異なったものです。他の手紙は教会の特定の支部、あるいは特定の個人に向けて書かれています。一方、ヘブル人への手紙は、教会に改宗したユダヤ人全員に宛てて書かれたものです。

Paul’s letter to the Hebrews is different that his other surviving letters.  The other letters were written to either a specific Branch of the Church or to a specific individual.  The letter to the Hebrews, on the other hand, was written to all the Jewish converts to the Church.

使徒たちがモーセの律法は成就し、イエス・キリストのより高い律法に取って代わったと説いたエルサレムでの大会議から10年後でさえ、教会に加わったユダヤ人の多くは、自分たちの古い習慣を捨てることに難色を示していたようです。

Apparently, even ten years after the great conference in Jerusalem, in which the apostles taught that the Law of Moses had been fulfilled and had been replaced by the higher law of Jesus Christ, many of the Jews who had joined the Church had a difficult time giving up their old ways.  

この手紙の中でパウロは、イエス・キリストの贖罪がモーセの律法に取って代わったと教えています。実際、モーセの律法は、救い主の来臨に向けて人々の心を備えるために与えられたものでした。イスラエルの家の人々であるニーファイ人はこのことを理解しており、モーセの律法を真の意味で守っていました。しかし、エルサレムのユダヤ人たちはこのことを理解していませんでした。

In this letter, Paul teaches that the Atonement of Jesus Christ superseded the Law of Moses.  In fact, the Law of Moses was given to the people to point their minds toward the coming of the Savior.  While the Nephite members of the House of Israel understood this and kept the Law of Moses for it’s true meaning, the Jews in Jerusalem did not understand this.

パウロはこの手紙に多くの時間を費やし、ユダヤ人改宗者たちに、もはやモーセの律法の儀式を行うべきではなく、その代わりに救い主イエス・キリストを仰ぐべきであると教えています。特にパウロは、より高いメルキゼデク神権について教えています。

Paul spends a great deal of time in this letter, teaching the Jewish converts that they should no longer practice the rituals of the Law of Moses.  Instead, they should look to our Savior, Jesus Christ.  In particular, Paul teaches about the higher Melchizedek priesthood.  

今週の聖句で、私たちが行う奉仕はどんな小さなことであっても、神がすべてご存知であることをパウロは思い起こさせています。私たちが天父と救い主イエス・キリストへの愛を示すことができるのは、他の人々に奉仕することを通してであると教えています。

In the scripture verse for this week, Paul reminds us that God is aware of all our acts of service, no matter how small.  He teaches us it is through ministering to others that we are able to show our love of Heavenly Father and of our Savior Jesus Christ.

現在も進んでいる回復の業の一環として、生ける預言者や使徒たちが再び奉仕の重要性を強調しているのは興味深いことです。教会員は常に、助けの必要な人々に奉仕するよう教えられてきました。しかし、以前のホームティーチングや家庭訪問教師に取って代わった「より高く、より神聖な」ミニスタリングによって、私たちはこの重要な業をより良く行うよう求められているのです。

It is interesting that, as part of the on-going Restoration, our living prophets and apostles have once again emphasized the importance of ministering.  Members of the Church have always been taught to minister to those in need.  However, with the “higher and holier” ministering that replaced the previous home and visiting teaching, we are challenged to do better in this important work.

私たちには、ミニスタリングする機会を与えられた家族や個人がいます。私たちは、「より高く、より神聖な」方法で、そのアサイメントを果たしているでしょうか？

Each one of us has one or more families or individuals to whom we have been given the opportunity to minister.  Are we fulfilling our assignment in a “higher and holier” way?

このようにミニスタリングに重点を置くようになったことで、私たちはより大きな責任を負うようになりました。今ではすべての人に伝える決まったレッスンやメッセージはありません。今、私たちはミニスタリングするように召された人々の必要について熟考し、祈る責任があるのです。

This new emphasis on ministering places a great deal more responsibility on each of us to do more.  No longer is there a set lesson or message that is to be delivered to everyone.  We now have the responsibility to ponder and pray about the needs of those to whom we have been called to minister.  

私たちには、ありきたりのメッセージを伝える以上の義務があります。私たちは主の群れを見守る羊飼いとして、主の牧場の安全な場所から迷い出てしまった迷える羊たちを探し出し、ミニスタリングするよう召されています。彼らの世話をし、彼らのために祈り、彼らのために奉仕するのです。そうすることで、私たちの奉仕が主に覚えられると確信することができます。

We have the duty to do more than just share a generic message.  We are called to be shepherds over the Lord’s flock, searching out and ministering to those lost sheep who may have wandered from the safety of the Lord’s pasture.  We are to care for them, pray for them, and minister to them.  As we do this, we can be assured that our ministering service will be remembered by the Lord

新しい週が始まります。私たちが行っているミニスタリングについて見直してみましょう。主の羊を見守る良い羊飼いになれるよう最善を尽くしましょう。与えられた家庭を訪問するだけではいけません。私たちは同胞に仕えるとき、神に仕えているに過ぎないというベニヤミン王の忠告を思い出してみましょう。

As we go through this next week, let’s take time to review our ministering duties.  Let’s do our best to be good shepherds over the Lord’s sheep.  Let’s do more than just visit our assigned families.  Let’s remember king Benjamin’s counsel that when we are in the service of our fellow man, we are only in the service of our God.
