さて、わたしモルモンは、愛する同砲であるあなたがたに話したい。父なる神と私たちの主イエス・キリストの恵みにより、また主がわたしに召しの賜物をお与えくださったので、主の聖なる御心により、わたしは今あなたがたに語る機会を得ている。
モロナイ７：２

And now I, Mormon, speak unto you, my beloved brethren; and it is by the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, and his holy will, because of the gift of his calling unto me, that I am permitted to speak unto you at this time.  Moroni 7:2

In the 7th chapter of the Book of Moroni, Moroni shares with us a copy of a letter his father, Mormon, wrote to him earlier.  Moroni feels this letter from his father is important because Mormon teaches us about faith, hope, and charity. 

モロナイ書の第7章では父親モルモンが息子モロナイ宛に出した手紙の言葉を紹介しています。モロナイはこの父親からの手紙は信仰や希望、慈愛について教えているので重要だと感じていました。

In the 2nd verse of this chapter, Mormon makes a very interesting statement.  In his opening remarks, Mormon says that he is able to speak to the people because of “the gift of his calling unto me”.

この章の２節ではモルモンはとても興味深いことを述べています。出だしでモルモンは「主がわたしに召しの賜物をお与えくださったので」人々に話すことができると述べています。

We all have callings in the Church.  We all have opportunities to serve. We all have our own assignments.

私たちも皆教会で召しを受けています。奉仕する機会やアサイメントがあります。

We all try to do our best to fulfil our callings properly.

私たちは受けた召しをきちんと果たすために最善を尽くします。

Do we treat our calling as a gift from God?

あなたは召しを神様からの贈物とみなしていますか？

Did you ever think about your calling in this manner?  Did you ever think that your calling is a gift from God?

受けた召しをこのように考えたことがありますか？召しを神様からの贈物だと考えたことがありますか？

While many of our callings are interesting and exciting, we have all had a calling or two that we did not really want.  Maybe the new calling put us in a situation where we felt we did not know what to do. Or perhaps it was a calling in a different Church organization than we were used to serving in.  Or perhaps it was a calling that required us to work with people that we did not know well.

召しの多くは興味深くわくわくするものですが、中には一つ二つあまり欲しくない召しを受けたことがあると思います。もしかしたらそれは新しい召しで自分ではどうしてよいかわからない状況に置かれたとか、今まで奉仕をしてきて慣れ親しんだのと違った教会組織での召しだとか、あまり知らない人と一緒に働かねばならない召しだったりするでしょう。

The Lord gives each of us an opportunity to serve in a variety of callings.  Some callings are easy for us. Some callings require that we learn and grow.  Some callings make us very humble.

主は私たち一人一人に色々な召しによって奉仕する機会を与えられます。簡単な召しであったり、中には学び成長することを必要とする召しだったりします。また自分をとても謙遜にしてくれる召しもあります。

No matter what the calling we are given, we should treat that calling as a gift from God.  We should treat it as an opportunity to serve others. We should treat it as a chance to grow and to learn.

どんな召しを受けようとそれを神様からの贈物とみなすべきです。他の誰かに仕える機会として受け入れましょう。学び成長するチャンスとして受け入れましょう。

If we consider our calling to be a gift from God, how will we act?  

召しを神様からの贈物と理解するならば私たちはどう行動すべきでしょう？

If we consider our calling to be a gift from God, we will do our very best to serve properly.  If we consider our calling to be a gift from God, we will love those whom we are called to serve.  If we consider our calling a gift from God, we will learn all we can about our assignment. 

召しを神様からの贈物と理解するなら私たちはきちんと仕えるために最善を尽くすことでしょう。召しを神様からの贈物と理解するなら私たちは仕えるよう召された人々を愛することでしょう。召しを神様からの贈物と理解するなら私たちは受けたアサイメントについて出来る限り学ぶことでしょう。

Let’s do our best in whatever calling the Lord has given to us.  Let’s do our best to follow the counsel of Mormon. Let’s do our best to treat our calling as a gift from God.  

主から与えられた召しが何であれ最善を尽くしましょう。最善を尽くしてこのモルモンの勧告に従いましょう。最善を尽くして受けた召しを神様からの贈物として受け入れましょう。
