すべて主の命令を行うこの地のへりくだる者よ、主を求めよ。正義を求めよ。謙遜を求めよ。そうすればあなたがたは主の怒りの日に、あるいは隠されることがあろう。ゼパニヤ２：３

Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgement; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.  Zephaniah 2:3

This week, we continue our study of the writings of the minor prophets.  As was said before, these prophets are called “minor” only because their writings are very short.  They were just as important as those prophets who came before them.

今週も、続けてマイナー預言者の著書を研究します。前に述べたように、これらの預言者が「マイナー」と呼ばれるのは、その著書が非常に短いというだけの理由からです。しかし、それ以前の預言者たちと同じくらい重要なものです。

These minor prophets lived during a time of great wickedness in Israel.  A common theme in all their writings is their sadness that Israel has rejected the gospel.  They all prophecy about the terrible punishments that will come upon Israel if they do not repent.  They tell of wars, famine, destruction, and captivity.  They warn that other nations will be brought by the hand of the Lord to destroy Jerusalem.  

これらのマイナー預言者は、イスラエルが非常に邪悪な時代に生きていました。彼らのすべての著書に共通するのは、イスラエルが福音を拒んだという痛ましい話だということです。悔い改めなければイスラエルに降りかかる恐ろしい罰について彼らは預言しています。戦争、飢饉、破壊、捕われの身について述べています。主の手によってもたらされる他の国々によってエルサレムを破壊されると警告しています。

Yet, they also prophecy about the coming of the Savior.  They prophecy about the wonderful blessings and the happiness that will come during the Millennium.  They prophecy about the great blessings that will be given to the righteous.

しかし、彼らは救い主の来臨についても預言しています。福千年の間にもたらされるすばらしい祝福と幸福についても預言しています。また、義人に与えられる大きな祝福について預言しています。

In this scripture, the prophet Zephaniah counsels the people of Israel to seek the Lord.  He urges them to repent.  He teaches them that they need to keep the commandments and to return to the Lord.

この聖句の中で、預言者ゼパニヤはイスラエルの人々に主を探し求めるよう勧めています。彼は悔い改めを促しています。戒めを守り、主のみもとに戻る必要があると教えています。

If they repent, they will be protected when the days of destruction come.  If they repent, they will be hidden from the anger of the Lord.  If they repent, they will be safe.  

もしも悔い改めれば、破滅の時が来ても彼らは守られます。もしも悔い改めれば、主の怒りを避けることができます。もしも悔い改めれば、彼らは安全に守られます。

This message of the ancient prophet Zephaniah is the same type of message that might be given in a General Conference talk in our day.  

古代の預言者ゼパニヤのこのメッセージは、今日の総大会のメッセージでも聞くことができます。

President Nelson and the other apostles have repeatedly warned us of the dangers to come.  They have taught us that we must repent.   They have taught us that we must keep the commandments of the Lord.  They have taught us to gain our own testimonies of the Savior Jesus Christ.

ネルソン大管長と他の使徒たちは、来る危険について繰り返し警告してきました。彼らは悔い改めるように教えています。主の戒めを守らなければならないと教えています。救い主イエス・キリストについて自分自身の証を得る方法を教えています。

Like the people of ancient Israel, we too have been warned by prophets.  Like the people of ancient Israel, we too have been counseled to repent.  Like the people of ancient Israel, we too have been urged to stay close to the Lord.

古代イスラエルの人々のように、私たちも預言者から警告を受けています。古代イスラエルの人々のように、私たちも悔い改めるように勧められています。古代イスラエルの人々のように、私たちも主の近くにとどまるように促されています。

The question is, will we be like the people in ancient Israel?  Will we reject the prophets?  Will we remain in wickedness?  Will we refuse to keep the commandments?

問題は、私たちが古代イスラエルの人々のようにするかということです。私たちは預言者を拒みますか？悪のうちにとどまりますか？戒めを守ることを拒みますか？

Hopefully, we will be smarter than those people.  Hopefully, we will repent of our sins.  Hopefully, we will follow the prophets that have been sent to us to teach us about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

私たちは彼らより賢明であることを願っています。私たちは自分の罪を悔い改めることを願っています。イエス・キリストの福音について教えるように遣わされた預言者に従いたい気持ちを持つことを願っています。

If we do all these things, we will receive all those blessings that have been promised to the faithful.  We will receive all those blessings that ancient Israel might have received if they had repented.  We will be protected by the Lord during times of trouble.  

これらすべてを行うなら、忠実な人々に約束されたすべての祝福を受けることでしょう。私たちは悔い改めるならば、古代イスラエル人が受けていたであろうすべての約束された祝福を受けることでしょう。困難な時、私たちは主に守られることでしょう。

As we go through this next week, let’s decide to follow the prophets that are sent to us.  Let’s not be like ancient Israel.  Let’s be willing to repent and to keep the commandments.  Let’s always stay on the covenant path.  Let’s be worthy to receive all of the promised blessings.

新しい週が始まります。私たちのために召された預言者に従うと決意して過ごしましょう。古代イスラエルのようにならないようにしましょう。喜んで悔い改め、戒めを守り、常に聖約の道を歩みましょう。約束されたすべての祝福を受けるにふさわしくありますように。
