しかしベツレヘム・エフラタよ、あなたはユダの氏族のうちで小さい者だが、イスラエルを治める者があなたのうちからわたしのために出る。その出るのは昔から、いにしえの日からである。ミカ５：２

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be the ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2

As we approach the end of the Old Testament writings, we come to the prophet Micah.  He was one of the last prophets from the Northern Kingdom.  

旧約聖書も終わりに近づきました。預言者ミカは北王国最後の預言者の一人でした。

Israel had divided into two parts.  The Northern Kingdom (called Israel) contained 10 of the tribes of Israel.  The Southern Kingdom (called Judah) was only for the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin.

イスラエルは二つに分裂していました。北王国 (イスラエルと呼ばれる) には、イスラエルの十の士族がいました。南王国（ユダと呼ばれる）にはユダ族とベニヤミン族だけがいました。

In about 580 BC, because of the wickedness of the people of Israel, the Assyrian army came and destroyed the Northern Kingdom.  Everyone there was either killed or taken into captivity.  We do not know what happened to those people who were captured.  Even today, we refer to this group of people as the “10 lost tribes”.  There are many references in the scriptures about the eventual return of those lost tribes.  We are told they will bring with them their records.

紀元前580年頃、イスラエルの人々の邪悪さのために、アッシリア軍が攻めて来て、北王国を滅ぼしました。 全員が殺されるか、捕らえられました。捕らえられた人々がどうなったかはわかりません。今日でも、この人々のグループを「失われた10支族」と呼んでいます。聖典にはその失われた支族が最後には戻ってくると言われています。彼らの記録はやがて世に出されると言われています。

Micah was given some of the same revelations that the Lord gave to Isaiah.  For example, compare Isaiah 2:2-4 with Micah 4:1-3.  They are almost identical scriptures.  This shows the prophets of the Lord teach the same truths to everyone.

ミカは、主がイザヤに与えたのと同じ啓示のいくつかを受けています。たとえば、イザヤ 2:2-4 とミカ 4:1-3 を比較してください。それらはほとんど同じです。これは、主の預言者がすべての人に同じ真理を教えていることを示しています。

Like Isaiah, Micah testifies of the coming of the Savior.  Perhaps the most significant scripture in Micah is this verse in chapter 5 of Micah.  In this verse, Micah prophecies that the Savior will be born in the little insignificant town of Bethlehem.  This is just one of the many testimonies from the Old Testament prophets that teach us they knew about our Savior many centuries before his birth.

イザヤのように、ミカは救い主の降臨を証しています。おそらく、ミカ書の中で最も重要な聖句は、ミカ書第 5 章のこの節です。この聖句で、ミカは救い主がベツレヘムという小さな町で誕生すると予言しています。これは、旧約聖書の預言者たちが救い主について何世紀も前から知っていたことで、これはそれら多くの証のひとつにすぎません。

The reason this scripture is significant is that the Jewish leaders in the time of Christ knew this scripture and what it meant.  They knew the Savior would be born in Bethlehem.

この聖句が重要である理由は、キリストの時代のユダヤ人の指導者たちがこの聖句とその意味を知っていたからです。彼らは救い主がベツレヘムで誕生することを知っていました。

When the wise men from the East came to Herod about two years after the birth of the Savior, they asked him where the new king was.  Herod had no idea what they were talking about.  But he did not want any “new king”.  He told the wise men to go find the new king.  He told then to come back and tell him where the new was so he could worship him too.

救い主の誕生から約2年後、東方の博士たちがヘロデのところに来たとき、彼らは新しい王はどこにいるかと尋ねました。ヘロデには彼らが何を話しているのか分かりませんでした。しかし、彼は「新しい王」を望んでいませんでした。彼は博士たちに新しい王を探しに行くように言いました。彼も崇拝できるように、新しい王がどこにいるかヘロデに教えるように言いました。

The wise men were warned not to go back to Herod.  When Herod found out that the wise men had already left, he asked the chief priests where Christ was to be born.   The chief priests said the Savior was to be born in Bethlehem and quoted this scripture as proof.  

博士たちは、ヘロデのところに戻らないようにと警告されました。ヘロデは博士たちが戻って来なかったことを知ると、祭司長たちにキリストがどこで生まれるかを尋ねました。祭司長たちは、救い主はベツレヘムで生まれると言い、この聖句を証拠として引用しました。

Sadly, even though the chief priests and leaders of the Jewish nation knew exactly where the Savior was to be born, they still rejected him.  They knew and believed the writings of the Old Testament prophets.  They knew where the Savior was to be born.  But they were not willing to accept Jesus as the promised Messiah.  

悲しいことに、ユダヤ人の祭司長や指導者たちは、救い主がどこで生まれるかを正確に知っていたにもかかわらず、主を拒みました。彼らは旧約聖書の預言者の言葉を信じており、救い主がどこで誕生するかを知っていました。しかし彼らは、イエスを約束された救い主として受け入れようとはしませんでした。

As we go through this next week, let’s think about the many wonderful testimonies of the Old Testament prophets about the birth of the Savior.  Let’s remember that the great Plan of Happiness was established before this world was created.  Let’s remember that the Lord reveals to his prophets the things that will happen in the future.  Let’s remember to always follow the counsel and teachings of the Lord’s prophets.
