主のすべての約束が果たされるまで、主の永遠の目的は続くからである。  モルモン書８：２２

For the eternal purposes of the Lord shall roll on, until all of his promises are fulfilled.   Mormon 8:22

The last two chapters of the book of Mormon were written by his son, Moroni.  Moroni tells us that all of the Nephites, now including even his father, Mormon, have been killed in battle and that he is all alone.

モルモン書の最後の2章は、息子モロナイによって書かれました。 モロナイは、父モルモンを含むすべてのニーファイ人が戦いで殺され、彼はただ一人残ったと述べています。

Moroni tells us that he will write a few more things on the plates, then will hide up the record in the earth.  He says he does this so that the record can come forth in purity at some future day.

モロナイは、その版にもう少し書き加え、それから記録を地に隠すと述べています。彼は記録が将来そのままの形で出てくるようにこれを行うのだと述べています。

It must have been a time of great trial for Moroni, being all alone and having witnessed the complete destruction of the Nephites.  He has no one to help him and does not know what the Lord has planned for him.  

モロナイにとって、ひとりでニーファイ人が全滅するのを目撃したのは、大きな試練の時だったに違いありません。 彼を助けてくれる人は誰もいません。主が彼のために何を計画されているのかもわかりませんでした。

As Moroni ponders all these things, he writes about the things the Spirit has told him will happen in the last days.  He testifies of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and of the Prophet Joseph Smith.  He tells of difficult times to come and of great pollutions upon the face of the earth.  Moroni sees our day and laments because of the wickedness of the people.

モロナイはこれらすべてのことを考えながら、御霊が末日に起こると告げられたことについて書き残しています。彼はモルモン書と預言者ジョセフ・スミスの出現について証しています。やがて来る困難の時期と地上の腐敗についても述べています。モロナイは今の私たちの時代を見て人々の邪悪さのために嘆いています。

Just like Moroni, we are faced with many challenges and trials in our own lives.  However, unlike Moroni, we are not all alone.  We are not the only survivors of a terrible war.  We are not wandering the earth, without friends or family.

モロナイと同じように、私たちも生活の中で多くのチャレンジや試練に直面しています。しかし、モロナイとは違い、私たちは一人ではありません。ひどい戦争の生き残りでも、友人や家族なしで地上をさまよっているわけでもありません。

Yes, this is a time of trouble.  Yes, this is a time of suffering and sadness on the part of many.  Yes, this is a time of worry and stress. 

確かに今は苦難の時です。今は多くの人にとって苦しみと悲しみの時です。今は不安とストレスの時です。

However, we have great consolation in the knowledge that the Lord is in charge.  We know that he will lead us through this trial.  We know that great blessings will come to those who keep the commandments of the Lord.  

しかし、私たちは主が責任を負ってくださるという知識があるので大きな慰めになっています。私たちは主がこの試練の中、導いてくださることを知っています。主の戒めを守る者には大きな祝福が来ることを私たちは知っています。

As Elder Uchtdorf taught in the October 2020 General Conference, this pandemic did not catch God by surprise.  God knows all things and has control of all things.  His work will roll forward.  

2020年10月の総大会でウークトドルフ長老が教えているように、このパンデミックは神にとって驚きではありませんでした。神はすべてのことをご存知で、すべてのことは神の手のうちにあるのです。主の業は前進するのです。

God’s timetable is not the same as our timetable.  God sees all his creations in an eternal perspective.  We, on our current mortal state, cannot see into the future.  We are taught that we need to go forward with faith in God and in Jesus Christ.  This is part of the test of mortality.  We show our faith by keeping the commandments, by living the principles of the gospel, by serving those around us.

神の時刻表は私たちの時刻表と同じではありません。神はすべての創造物を永遠の視点で見ておられます。私たちは、現在の死すべき状態では、将来を見通すことはできません。私たちは、神とイエス・キリストを信じて前進する必要があると教えられています。これは現世でのテストの一部なのです。私たちは、戒めを守り、福音の原則を守り、周りの人々に仕えることによって信仰を示すのです。

Heavenly Father is in control.  The current pandemic will not change or delay the work of the Lord.  Neither will wild fires, earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis.  As the Prophet Joseph Smith wrote in Section 121 of the Doctrine & Covenants, “As well might man stretch forth his puny arm to stop the Missouri river in its decreed course, or to turn it upstream, as to hinder the Almighty from pouring down knowledge from heaven upon the heads of the Latter-Day Saints”.

すべては天父の御手の中にあります。現在のパンデミックが主の業を変えたり、遅らせたりすることはありません。山火事、地震、洪水、津波もそうです。預言者ジョセフ・スミスが教義と聖約の第121章に書いているように、「全能者が末日聖徒の頭に天から知識を注ぐのを人が妨げようとするのは、人がその弱い腕を伸べて、定められた水路を流れるミズーリ川をとどめようとするようなもの、あるいは逆流させようとするようなものである。」

All of the promised blessings will be ours.  All of the prophecies of the prophets, both ancient and modern, will be fulfilled.  All of the works of the Lord will be completed.

約束された祝福はすべて私たちに与えられます。古代と現代の預言者が残したすべての予言は成就します。主のすべての業は成就します。

As we go through this week, let’s remember that the Lord is in charge.  Let’s go forward with faith.  Let’s see beyond the temporary trials and troubles.  Let’s have confidence in the promises of the Lord for a brighter and better future.  

新しい週が始まります。すべてが主の御手の中にある事を心にとめていましょう。信仰をもって前進しましょう。一時的な試練や苦難の遥か先を見ましょう。より明るく、より良い未来のための主の約束に信頼をおきましょう。
