A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall men know that you are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-35

As the Savior’s earthly ministry drew to a close, the Savior taught several important lessons. First, as the Passover arrived, and the time for the Savior’s Atonement for all our sins drew near, the Savior instituted the ordinance of the Sacrament.
主は二階の部屋に弟子たちを集められ、パンを祝福し「取って食べよ、これはわたしのからだである」と言われました。そして、ぶどう酒を祝福して弟子たちに飲ませ、「これは、多くの人のために流すわたしの契約の血である」と言われました。
In the upper room, the Lord blessed the bread and gave it to his disciples, saying “Take, eat: this is my body”. Then he blessed the wine and gave it to them to drink, saying “This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many”.
今日、イエス・キリストの真の弟子たちは、救い主の偉大な贖罪の犠牲を思い起こしながら、毎週、敬虔に聖餐式に参加しています。そうすることで、私たちもイエス・キリストによって定められた神聖な儀式に参加することができるのです。
Today, true disciples of Jesus Christ reverently partake of the Sacrament each week, in remembrance of the great Atoning Sacrifice of our Savior. By so doing, we too are able to participate in the sacred ordinance established by Jesus Christ himself.
同じ頃、救い主はご自身の教導の業で最も重要な教えを与えられました。弟子たちに、私たちにも互いに愛し合いなさいという教えを授けられました。
Around the same time, the Savior gave one of the most important teachings of his entire ministry. He gave to his disciples, and to us as well, a charge to love one another.
救い主はこの戒めについてさらに詳しく教えてくださいました。救い主は、私たちがほんの僅かの人々を愛することを望んでおられるのではありません。自分と同じような人だけを愛することを望んでおられるのではありません。ただ愛しているふりをするよう望んでおられるのではありません。
This commandment was further amplified by the Savior. He does not want us to just love a few people. He does not want us to love only those who are like ourselves. He does not want us to just pretend to love others.
主は「わたしがあなたがたを愛したように、互いに愛し合いなさい」と言われました。
He said, “love one another as I have loved you”.
すべてのことに言えますが、救い主イエス・キリストは私たちの偉大な模範です。人を選り好みすることなく愛されました。罪人を愛し、らい病人を愛し、盲人を愛されました。謙遜な者を愛し、力ある者を愛されました。主はすべての人を愛し、すべての人が悔い改めと救い主イエス・キリストへの信仰の祝福を享受することを望んでおられます。
As in all things, our Savior Jesus Christ is our great example. He loved without limit and without restriction. He loved the sinner, the leper, the blind. He loved the humble and he loved the mighty. He loves everyone and wants everyone to enjoy the blessings of repentance and faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.
イエス様が愛されたように、互いに愛し合っていますか？イエス様の模範に倣っていますか？私たちの家族には、もしかしたら、イエス様が愛されたように、私たちが愛さなければならない人がいるのではないでしょうか？自分のワードに、イエス様が愛されたように、私たちが愛する必要のある人がいるのではないでしょうか？私たちの地域社会、職場、あるいはその他の場所に、イエス様が愛されたように私たちが愛さなければならない人がいるのではないでしょうか？
Do we love one another as Jesus loved? Do we follow his example? Is there someone in our own family, perhaps, that we need to love as Jesus loved? Is there someone in our own ward that we need to love as Jesus loved? Is there someone in our community, our workplace, or anywhere else that we need to love as Jesus loved?
この戒めを守るとどうなるのでしょうか？
What happens when we keep this commandment?
「互いに愛し合うならば、それによって、あなたがたがわたしの弟子であることを、すべての者が認めるであろう」。
“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another”.
天父と救い主イエス・キリストが私たちを愛してくださったように他人を愛することで、私たちは天父と救い主を愛していることを示します。私たちは、イエス様が愛されたように他人を愛することによって、私たちがイエス・キリストの真の弟子であることを、この人生で周りにいる人々に示します。
We show Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ that we love them by loving others as they have loved us. We show others here in this life that we are true disciples of Jesus Christ by loving them as Jesus loved.
互いに愛し合いましょう。
Love one another.
それは、あらゆる戒めの中で最も偉大なものの一つです。
That is one of the greatest of all the commandments.
新しい週が始まります。イエス様が愛されたように愛せるかどうか自分の生活を吟味してみましょう。私たちを傷つけた人を愛するために、もっと努力しましょう。自分とは違う人を愛する努力をしましょう。イエス・キリストの真の弟子となるために、もっと努力しましょう。
As we go through this next week, let’s examine our own lives and see if we love as Jesus loved. Let’s make a greater effort to love those that may have offended us. Let’s make a greater effort to love those that are different than we are. Let’s make a greater effort to be true disciples of Jesus Christ.
