それゆえ、あなたがたは、今日のようにわれわれの神、主に対して、こころは全く真実であり、主の定めに歩み、主の戒めを守らなければならない。列王記上８：６１
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. 1 Kings 8:61
This is an interesting scripture from the Old Testament. Solomon, the son of David, gave this instruction to his people at the time the Temple of Solomon was dedicated. King Solomon commanded that all of Israel should come to the dedication.
これは旧約聖書にある興味深い聖句です。ソロモンの神殿が奉献されたとき、ダビデの息子、ソロモンはこの教えを人々に伝えました。ソロモン王はイスラエルの民に全員その奉献式に出席するよう命じました。
It was a time of great rejoicing in Israel. It was also a time of great spiritual experiences.
イスラエルではその時大きな喜びがありました。また素晴らしく霊的な経験となる時でもありました。
At the conclusion of the dedication of the temple, king Solomon blessed the people who came to the dedication. This scripture is from his blessing for the people.
神殿の奉献式の最後にソロモン王は出席した人々を祝福しました。この聖句はその時の祝福を記録したものです。
We need to remember this same counsel today.
今日の私たちもこの勧告を忘れないようにしなければなりません。
In a way, the dedication of the Temple of Solomon was a little like General Conference. For the dedication of the temple, all Israel gathered in Jerusalem. For General Conference, we all gather throughout the world. The people received great spiritual blessings at the dedication. We today receive great spiritual blessings at General Conference.
ある意味、ソロモンの神殿の奉献式は総大会のようでもあります。神殿の奉献式のためにイスラエルの民はエルサレムに集まりました。総大会でも世界各地で私たちは集まります。奉献式では人々はすばらしい霊的な祝福を受けます。私たちも今日総大会ですばらしい霊的な祝福を受けます。
General Conference brings a great feeling of spirituality into our lives. Why is that?
総大会は霊的なすばらしい気持ちを私たちの生活にもたらします。それは何故でしょう？
We prepare for General Conference by praying and asking the Lord to bless us with his Spirit. We asked the Lord to help us to understand the messages that will be delivered. We ask the Lord to help us feel the Holy Ghost testifying to us.
総大会のために私たちはお祈りし主に御霊の祝福を求め準備します。私たちはそこで伝えられるメッセージが理解できるように助けてくださいと主にお願いします。聖霊が私たちに証することがよくわかるよう助けを求めます。
We listen carefully to the instructions and counsel that is given to us at General Conference. We take notes. We study the talks. We think about the things that are said.
私たちは総大会で与えられる指示や勧告を注意深く視聴します。ノートを取り、お話を研究します。また述べられた事柄についてよく考えてみます。
When General Conference is over, we feel very spiritual. We feel very close to the Lord. We feel like we never want Conference to end.
総大会が終了した時、私たちはとても霊的な気持ちになります。主を近くに感じ、大会が終わって欲しくないと思います。
But as the next few days and weeks go by, we begin to lose that feeling of spirituality.
しかし、やがて２，３日が過ぎ、何週間か過ぎて行きます。私たちは霊的な感覚を失い始めます。
How do we keep that wonderful feeling of spirituality even after General Conference is over?
どのようにして総大会が終わった後もすばらしい霊的な気持ちを持ち続けれるでしょうか？
King Solomon teaches us about that very thing.
ソロモン王はその事を私たちに教えています。
He tells us we should “let our heart be perfect with the Lord”. He tells us that we should “walk in his statutes”. He tells us that we should “keep his commandments”.
彼は「主に対して、こころは全く真実である」べきだと教えています。彼は「主の定めに歩む」よう教えています。また「主の戒めを守らな」ければならないと教えています。
He tells us that we should do all these things “as at this day”.
私たちも「今日のように」これらすべてのことを行うべきだと彼は教えています。
In other words, if we always want to keep the great feeling of spirituality that we felt at General Conference, we need to always do the things we do during General Conference.
言い換えると、もし総大会で感じたすばらしい気持ちを持ち続けたければ、総大会で行っていたことをすべきなのです。
We need to pray every day that we will be able to be taught by the Holy Ghost. We need to study the messages that were given to us during General Conference. We need to listen to the promptings of the Spirit and follow the inspiration that we are given.
聖霊を通して学べるよう毎日祈る必要があります。総大会で述べられたメッセージを研究し、聖霊のささやきに耳を傾け、受けた促しに従う必要があります。
We can keep the feeling of spirituality that we feel during General Conference every day of our lives. We just need to keep doing the same things that we do to prepare for and to participate in General Conference every day of our lives.
私たちは総大会で受けた霊的な気持ちを毎日の生活でも持ち続けることができます。そのためには総大会を聴くために準備したことや、参加するために私たちがしたのと同じことを続ける必要があります。
I know that as we walk in his statutes and keep his commandments, we will always be able to feel the Spirit of the Lord helping us in our lives.
私たちが主の定めに歩み、戒めを守るとき主の御霊が日々の生活で私たちを助けてくれるのをいつも感じることができると私は知っています。
Let’s go forward this week, keeping our heart perfect with the Lord and walking in his statutes. Let’s make every day of our lives just as spiritual as the day of General Conference.
今週も主を心にしっかり留め、主の定めに歩み続けましょう。毎日の生活を総大会の日々と同じよう霊的に過ごしましょう。
