And that thou mayest more fully keep thyself unspotted from the world, thou shalt go to the house of prayer and offer up thy sacraments upon my holy day; for verily this is a day appointed unto you to rest from your labors, and to pay thy devotions unto the Most High.
Doctrine & Covenants 59:9-10
In August of 1831, many of the Saints started to arrive in Jackson County in the state of Missouri. In this revelation given through the Prophet Joseph Smith to the Saints in Jackson County, many important instructions were received.

The same instructions and commandments apply to us today, just as they did to those early Saint in Missouri.

One of these important instructions is a commandment to keep the Sabbath Day holy.
ひとつの重要な指示は、安息日を聖く保つようにという戒めです。
The Lord commands us to “go to the house of prayer” on his holy day and to offer up our sacraments.
主は私たちに、聖なる日に「祈りの家に行き」、聖式をささげるように命じられました。
In other words, we are commanded to go to Church each Sunday and to partake of the sacrament.
言い換えれば、私たちは毎週日曜日に教会に行き、聖餐を受けるように命じられています。
We know the Sacrament meeting is the most important meeting in the Church. It provides an opportunity to us to meet together in a house of prayer. It also provides an opportunity to us to partake of the sacrament in remembrance of our Savior Jesus Christ.
聖餐会は教会で最も重要な集会であることを私たちは知っています。それは私たちに祈りの家で共に集まる機会を提供してくれます。また、私たちの救い主イエス・キリストを思い、聖餐を受ける機会を提供してくれます。
Unfortunately, due to the COVID pandemic, many of us have not been able to meet together at the Church building to partake of the sacrament. Some of us are still not able to gather together.
残念ながら、コロナのパンデミックのため、教会に来て共に聖餐式に参加できない人も多くいました。私たちの中には、未だ一緒に集まることができない人もいます。
But, this revelation does not say, “go to the Church building” to partake of the sacrament. It says, “go to the house of prayer” to partake of the sacrament.
しかし、この啓示は、聖餐を受けるために「教会の建物に行く」とは言っていません。聖餐を受けるために「祈りの家に行きなさい」と書かれています。
During this time when we are not able to meet together as a ward or as a branch, we are still able to meet together as a family, in our own “house of prayer”. Even if our family only consists of one person, we are still able to “go to the house of prayer” and offer up our sacraments to the Lord. We are still able to obey this commandment and to receive all the blessings that come from obeying this commandment.
ワードや支部として集まることのできないこの時期でも、私たちの「祈りの家」である家庭で集うことができます。私たちの家族が一人で構成されている場合でも、私たちは「祈りの家に行き」、聖式を主にささげることができます。私たちは今でもこの戒めに従うことができ、この戒めに従うことから来るすべての祝福を受けることができるのです。
These early Saints had almost nothing. They had no houses to live in, no farms to take care of, no food supplies to use. They had to work hard every day just to live. And yet, the Lord commands them to “rest from their labors” on the Sabbath.
初期の聖徒はほとんど何も持っていませんでした。彼らには住む家も、働く農場も、使える食料もありませんでした。彼らは生きるためにだけ毎日一生懸命働かなければなりませんでした。それでも、主は安息日に「彼らの労苦を解かれて休む」ように命じられています。
We are all very busy in our own lives, but at least we don’t have to build our own homes, or live in small tents, or plant food to be able to eat. It is much easier for us to “rest from our labors” on the Sabbath Day.
私たちは皆、忙しい生活を送ってはいますが、少なくとも自分の家を建てたり、小さなテントに住んだり、食べ物を植えたりする必要はありません。安息日に「私たちの労苦から解かれて休む」ことは私たちにはとても簡単なことです。
Why do we do all these things? The Lord tells us that we are to do these things that we can “more fully keep thyself unspotted from the world”.
なぜ私たちはこれらのことをするのでしょうか？主は「世の汚れに染まらずに自らをさらに十分に清く保てる」ようにそうするのだと私たちに教えておられます。
In other words, if we obey the commandment to keep the Sabbath Day holy, to go to the house of prayer, to partake of the sacrament, and to rest from our labors, we will be able to feel the Spirit more fully. We will be able to be directed by the Holy Ghost in our decisions. We will be able to have greater faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. We will be happier.
言い換えれば、安息日を聖く保ち、祈りの家に行き、聖餐をとり、そして私たちの労苦から解かれて休むという戒めに従うならば、私たちは御霊をより確かに感じることができるでしょう。私たちが決断を下すとき聖霊に導かれることができるでしょう。私たちは救い主イエス・キリストをより信じることができるようになり、もっと幸せになるでしょう。
As we go through this week, let’s remember this important commandment which has been given to the faithful Saints in every dispensation. Let’s remember to keep the Sabbath Day holy. Let’s remember to attend our Sacrament meetings, whether in a Church building or in our own home. Let’s remember to rest from our labors on the Sabbath Day.
すべての神権時代に忠実な聖徒たちに与えられたこの重要な戒めを忘れず新しい週を過ごしましょう。安息日を聖く保つことを忘れないでください。教会の建物であろうと私たちの家であろうと、聖餐会に出席することを忘れないでください。安息日に私たちの労苦から解かれて休むことを忘れないでください。
