努めてこれをあなたの子らに教え、あなたが家に座している時も、道を歩くときも、寝る時も、起きる時も、これについて語らなければならない。申命記６：７

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou riseth up.  Deuteronomy 6:7

The book of Deuteronomy is a review of all the things that took place from the time that Moses lead the children of Israel out of Egypt until the time that they were ready to enter into the promised land.

申命記は、モーセがイスラエルの民をエジプトから導き出してから、約束の地に入る準備ができるまでに起こったことをまとめたものです。

After wandering in the wilderness for forty years, Israel is finally about to enter into the promised land.  As they prepare for that, Moses calls the people together to teach them, just as king Benjamin did for his people.

荒野を40年間さまよった後、イスラエルの民はようやく約束の地に入る準備ができました。彼らがその準備をしているとき、モーセは、ベニヤミン王が民にしたように、人々を呼び集めて彼らに教えました。

Moses reviews all that has happened to Israel since they left Egypt.  He reminds them of their rebellions in the wilderness and how often the Lord sent them blessings and preserved their lives.  

モーセは、イスラエルの民がエジプトを去ってから起こったすべてのことを思い出させています。彼らは荒野で反逆した時もあり、また、主が祝福を送ってくださり命が度々守られたこともありました。

More importantly, Moses again teaches them the commandments of the Lord.  He reviews with them again each of the Ten Commandments.  He teaches them about the blessings that will come if they keep those commandments, and about the punishments that will come if they are disobedient.

さらに重要なことに、モーセは主の戒めを再び彼らに教えています。十戒について彼らとともに学び直し、彼らが戒めを守るならば祝福を受けること、そして不従順であるならば罰を受けることについて教えています。

Moses tells the children of Israel that these teachings and commandments of the Lord are so important that they must teach them diligently to their children.  He says that they should talk about the commandments and blessings of the Lord when they are in their own homes, when they are outside, when they go to sleep at night, and when they wake up in the morning.

モーセは主の教えと戒めは非常に重要なので、彼らの子供にも熱心に教えなければならないとイスラエルの民に話しています。家にいるとき、外にいるとき、夜寝るとき、朝起きたときなど、いつでも主の戒めと祝福について語るべきだと述べています。

This counsel applies to us, today, just as it did to the children of Israel in the days of Moses.  We too have the responsibility to teach our children the principles and doctrines of the gospel.

この勧告は、モーセの時代のイスラエルの民と同じように、今日の私たちにも当てはまります。私たちにも、子供たちに福音の原則と教義を教える責任があります。

We have been given many tools to help us fulfill that responsibility.  We have organized Church meetings and activities to participate in.  We have General Conference talks from prophets and apostles to read and to study.

私たちはその責任を果たすのに役立つ多くのツールが与えられています。私たちが参加できるよう教会の集会や活動が組織されています。私たちには預言者や使徒たちからの話を読み勉強できるよう総大会があります。

We have the wonderful “Come, Follow Me” study program, given to us by revelation.  This study program can be a great help as we seek to diligently teach these things to our own children.  As we faithfully follow the study plan outlined in the “Come, Follow Me” manual, our own testimonies will be strengthened and the testimonies of our children will be strengthened.

私たちは、啓示によって与えられた素晴らしい学習プログラム「わたしに従ってきなさい」があります。この学習プログラムは、私たちが自分の子供たちにこれらのことを熱心に教えようとするとき、大きな助けになります。 「わたしに従ってきなさい」のマニュアルに概説されている学習計画に忠実に従うことで、私たち自身の証と、子供たちの証が強められます。

We also have been instructed by prophets of the Lord to have a weekly Family Home Evening.  This is another opportunity to diligently teach our children the doctrines of the gospel.

また、主の預言者から毎週家庭の夕べを行うように指示されています。これも、子供たちに福音の教義を熱心に教えるもう一つの機会です。

Are we willing to follow the counsel of the Lord, as given to us by his prophets?  Are we willing to use the tools the Lord has given us?  Are we willing to diligently teach these things to our children?  

私たちは、主の預言者から与えられる主の勧告に従いたいと思いませんか？主が私たちに与えてくださったツールを喜んで使いたいと思いませんか？子供たちに熱心に教えたいと思いませんか？

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the counsel that Moses gave to the children of Israel.  Let’s remember that it is just as important today as it was then.  Let’s remember that we have a responsibility before God to diligently teach the doctrines and principles of the gospel to our children, to our family members, and to all the world.  Let’s do our best to improve in this important responsibility.

新しい週が始まります。モーセがイスラエルの民に与えた勧告を覚えて過ごしましょう。その勧告は今日も当時と同じくらい重要であることを忘れないでください。私たちには、子供たち、家族、そして世界中に福音の教義と原則を熱心に教える責任があることを心に留めてください。この大切な責任をより良く果たせるように最善を尽くしましょう。
