Now Abinadi said unto him: I will not recall the words which I have spoken unto you concerning this people, for they are true; and that ye may know of their surety I have suffered myself that I have fallen into your hands. Yea, and I will suffer even unto death, and I will not recall my words, and they shall stand as a testimony against you. And if ye slay e ye will shed innocent blood, and this shall also stand as a testimony against you at the last day. Mosiah 17:9-10
In this chapter of Mosiah, we are taught about the prophet Abinadi and his great faith and testimony.
モーサヤ書のこの章で、私たちは預言者アビナダイや彼の偉大な信仰と証について学びます。
Abinadi was called by the Lord to preach to king Noah and his people. King Noah was the son of Zeniff and the father of king Limhi. But unlike his father or his son, king Noah was a very wicked man. The Lord sent Abinadi to preach the gospel to these wicked people. But the people rejected all of his teachings. They did not want to repent. They were very angry with Abinadi and tried to kill him.
アビナダイはノア王とその民に教えるよう主に召されました。ノア王はゼニフの息子でリムハイ王の父親でした。しかし彼の父や息子と違いノア王はとても邪悪な男でした。主はその邪悪な人々に福音を教えるようアビナダイを送られました。しかし人々は彼の教えを拒み、悔い改めようとはしませんでした。彼らは非常に怒りアビナダイを殺そうとしました。
We don’t know what happened next, but two years later, Abinadi was called to preach to those same people again. This must have been a trial for Abinadi. He knew the people had rejected all his words before and had tried to kill him. But Abinadi was faithful and accepted the assignment from the Lord.
その後何が起こったかはわかりませんが、２年後、アビナダイは同じ人々に再び説教するように召されました。 これはアビナダイにとって試練だったに違いありません。 彼は人々が以前、彼の言葉をすべて拒否し、彼を殺そうとしたことを知っていたからです。しかし、アビナダイは忠実で、主からの責任を受け入れました。
Just as before, when Abinadi tried to teach the people, they rejected his words. They captured him and put him in prison. The wicked king Noah announced that unless Abinadi recalled all his words, that Abinadi would be killed.
以前と同じで、アビナダイが人々に教えようとしたとき、人々は彼の言葉を拒みました。 そして彼を捕まえて獄に入れました。 邪悪なノア王はアビナダイが彼の言葉を取り消さない限り、アビナダイを殺すと発表しました。

Abinadi boldly stood and told king Noah that he would not recall his words. He told king Noah that the words that he had spoken would be a testimony against king Noah at the last day. He said that even if king Noah killed him, he would not change his testimony.
アビナダイは大胆にノア王の前に立ち、彼が語った言葉は取り消さないと言いました。彼の述べた言葉は最後の日にノア王に対し証を立てるものとなるとノア王に言いました。もしノア王が彼を殺しても、彼は証言を変えないと言ったのです。
What a wonderful example to all of us!

We often have opportunities to bear our testimony or to share our beliefs with others. Sadly, unlike Abinadi, many of us are afraid to tell others about what we believe. We are fearful that they may not like us if we do.
私たちにも証を述べ、信じることを他人に分かち合う機会があります。悲しいことに、アビナダイと違い、私たちは自分の信じることを他人に話すことを恐れ、そうすると自分が嫌われるのではと恐れを感じています。
However, none of us has ever been in a situation where we would be killed if we shared our testimony. None of us have ever been put into prison because we were members of the Church. None of us have been sentenced to death because of our belief.
しかし、私たちの誰も証を分かち合うことで殺されるような状況にあったことはありません。私たちの誰も教会の会員ということで獄に入れられたことはありません。私たちの誰も自分の信じることのために死の宣告を受けたこともありません。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember the example of Abinadi. Let’s remember to stand boldly and to share our testimonies and our beliefs with others. Let’s remember that there may be an Alma who hears our words and accepts the gospel. Let’s be willing to be good followers of our Savior Jesus Christ.
