And again, I say unto you, all things must be done in the name of Christ, whatsoever you do in the Spirit; And ye must give thanks unto God in the Spirit for whatsoever blessings ye are blessed with.  And ye must practice virtue and holiness before me continually.

Doctrine & Covenants 46:31-33

Section 46 of the Doctrine & Covenants contains instructions from the Lord about how to conduct Church meetings.  The Church was just one year old and there were no standard meeting formats yet.

In this revelation, the Lord gives a number of instructions, including directions about what to do when investigators want to participate in the various Church meetings.

この啓示の中で、主は求道者が教会のさまざまな集会に参加したいときに、何をすべきかなど多くの指示を与えておられます。

At the close of this revelation, the Lord teaches several very important doctrines that we still follow today.

この啓示の終わりで、主は非常に重要な教義を教えておられ、私たちは今日もそれらに従っています。

First of all, we are taught that everything we do in the Church is to be done in the name of Christ.  This is his Church.  This is his work.  This is his gospel.  So, all that we do must be done in his name and in his way.  We are to follow his example in all that we do.

まず第一に、私たちが教会で行うことはすべてキリストの名によって行われるべきであると教えられています。 これは主の教会です。これは主の業です。これは主の福音です。ですから、私たちが行うことはすべて、主の名と方法で行われなければなりません。私たちが行うすべてのことは主の模範に従うべきです。

We are taught to use our own initiative in solving problems or challenges, but the solutions we choose must still be in keeping with the doctrines and the principles of the gospel.  We do this by following the counsel given in Section 9 of the Doctrine & Covenants. 

私たちは問題やチャレンジを解決するために自らイニシアチブをとるように教えられていますが、私たちが選択する解決策はそれでもなお福音の教義と原則に沿う必要があります。私たちは教義と聖約の9章に記載されている勧告に従ってそれを行います。

In that Section, we are taught that we must study a problem and use our best efforts to find a solution.  After we have done all that we can do to learn about the problem and the possible solutions, we need to make a decision about how we should proceed.  

その章では、問題を研究し、解決策を見つけるために最善を尽くさなければならないことを教えています。問題を理解し考えられる解決策を分かるためにできることをすべて行った後、私たちはどのように進めるかを決定する必要があります。

We then need to pray and find out if the solution we have chosen is the correct one.  As we pray and listen for the whisperings of the Holy Ghost, we will be led in the path that will bring about the best solution.  

次に、私たちが選んだ解決策が正しいものであるかどうかを祈って知る必要があります。聖霊のささやきを祈って聞くときに、私たちは最善の解決策をもたらす道に導かれます。

As we receive revelation and guidance, we must always give thanks to the Lord for the blessings that we receive.  It is important that we recognize the Lord’s hand in our own lives, sometimes in solutions to simple everyday problems.  As we express our gratitude for the blessings we receive, our faith in our Savior Jesus Christ will grow stronger.

啓示と導きを受けるとき、私たちは受ける祝福をいつも主に感謝しなければなりません。私たちが生活の中で、時には日常の些細な問題の解決策にも、主のみ手を認識することは重要です。受けた祝福に感謝の気持ちを表すと、救い主イエス・キリストへの信仰が強くなります。

Third, in order to receive blessings, in order to hear the whisperings of the Holy Ghost, in order to be led by the Spirit, we are taught that we must “practice virtue and holiness” continually.  

第三に、祝福を受け、聖霊のささやきを聞き、御霊に導かれるためには、「徳高く聖くなければならない」と教えられています。

We must keep the commandments.  We must pray, study the scriptures, attend our meetings, and minister to others.  We need to do our best to improve, to overcome our weaknesses, to turn away from temptation and sin.

私たちは戒めを守らなければなりません。私たちは祈り、聖文を研究し、集会に出席し、他の人に奉仕しなければなりません。私たちは、改善し、弱点を克服し、誘惑と罪に背を向けるために最善を尽くす必要があります。

We need to be living examples of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As we do so, we will draw closer to our Savior.  We will have more spiritual experiences.  We will have greater faith.  We will have more revelation and guidance.  We will become better sons and daughters of God.

そうすることで、私たちは救い主に近づきます。私たちはより霊的な経験をします。私たちはより大きな信仰を持ちます。私たちはより多くの啓示と導きを受けます。私たちは神のより良い息子や娘になります。

As we go through this next week, let’s do our best to practice virtue and holiness at all times.  Let’s do our best to be living examples of the gospel.  Let’s do our best to increase our faith in Jesus Christ.  Let’s do our best to always return thanks for the blessings that we receive.
