悔い改めと主イエス・キリストを信じる信仰についてこの民に宣べ伝えなさい。謙遜になるように、また柔和で心のへりくだった者になるように教えなさい。主イエス・キリストを信じる信仰をもって、悪魔のあらゆる誘惑に立ち向かうように教えなさい。善い行いをするのに決して疲れず、柔和で心のべりくだった者になるようにこの民に教えなさい。このような者は、その霊に安息を得るであろう。アルマ章３７：３３－３４
Preach unto them repentance, and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ; teach them to humble themselves and to be meek and lowly in heart; teach them to withstand every temptation of the devil, with their faith on the Lord Jesus Christ. Teach them to never be weary of good works, but to be meek and lowly in heart; for such shall find rest for their souls. Alma 37:33-34
In this scripture, Alma gives us a simple pattern to follow. If we want to be happy, all we have to do are the basic things that Alma teaches us about.
アルマはこの聖句で私たちが従うべき簡単なパターンについて教えています。もし幸せになりたければ、すべきことはただアルマが教えている基本的なことをするだけです。
None of these things are new. We have been taught them from the time we first learned about the gospel. We learn about them each week in our Church meetings. We teach them to others in our classes.
それはどれも目新しいことではありません。私たちが福音を学び始めたときからずっと教えられてきており、毎週教会の集会で学び、またクラスでも他の生徒にも教えています。
First, Alma teaches us that we need to have faith on Jesus Christ and to repent of our sins. This is the first thing that missionaries teach to those who want to learn about the Church. Faith is the most basic principle of the gospel. Repenting of our sins helps us to have greater faith in Jesus Christ and to receive the blessings that the Savior wants to send to us.
まず、アルマはイエスキリストへの信仰と罪の悔い改めが必要だと教えています。これは宣教師が教会について学びたい人々に最初に教えることです。信仰はもっとも基本的な福音の原則です。罪の悔い改めはイエスキリストへのより強い信仰をはぐぐむ助けになり、救い主が私たちのために用意された祝福を受けるのにも役立ちます。
Next, Alma teaches us that we need to be meek and humble. Being meek and humble does not mean letting people push us around or being a slave. It means to be willing to listen to the promptings of the Spirit. It means to be willing to be taught. It means to be willing to follow the Savior.
次にアルマは柔和で謙遜でなければならないと教えました。柔和で謙遜であることは人に命令ばかりさせたり私たちを奴隷のように扱わせることではありません。霊のささやきをすすんで聞くということです。すすんで教えを学ぶということです。すすんで救い主に従おうとすることです。
The next thing that Alma teaches us is to withstand temptations. We all have temptations. We all have temptations every day. Satan knows what our weakness are and he tries to trick us. Alma teaches us to withstand these temptations with our faith in Jesus Christ.
さらにアルマは誘惑に負けないよう教えています。私たちはみな誘惑に遭遇します。確実に毎日誘惑に会います。サタンは私たちの弱さを知っており、騙（だま）そうとしています。アルマはイエスキリストへの信仰を持ってこうした誘惑に打ち勝つよう勧めています。
Finally, Alma teaches us to always be willing to help with the work of the Church. Visiting someone who is sick, teaching a class, helping with the music, saying a prayer, being a friend to someone who is lonely, visiting our home teaching or visiting teaching families, all these things a “good works”.
最後に、アルマは常に教会の業を喜んで助けるよう教えています。病気の人を見舞い、教会のクラスで教え、音楽活動にも参加し、お祈りをし、孤独なだれかの友達になり、家庭訪問やホームティーチング家族を訪問するのです。こうしたことはすべて「よい行い」なのです。
Alma teaches us that all these things are important. He reminds us that it is our duty, as members of the Church, to be willing to do whatever we can to help others.
アルマはすべてこれらのことは大切だと教えました。かれは教会の会員としてだれかを助けるために何でも喜んですることが私たちの義務であると教えています。
If we do the things that Alma teaches us, we are promised a great blessing. We are promised that we “shall find rest for our souls”.
アルマが教えたことを行うならば大きな祝福が約束されています。私たちは「霊に安息を得るであろう」と約束されています。
May we try hard this week to follow the pattern taught by Alma. May we have greater faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. May we repent of our sins. May we be humble and meek. May we resist all temptations through faith. And may we always try to help those around us. If we do this simple things, I know that we will receive the promised blessings.
今週アルマが教えたパターンに従うよう一生懸命頑張りましょう。イエスキリストへのより強い信仰を持ちましょう。罪を悔い改めましょう。謙遜で柔和でいましょう。信仰によってすべての誘惑に打ち勝ちましょう。自分たちの周りにいる人々をいつも助けるように努力しましょう。これらの小さな事柄を行うとき約束された祝福を受けることを知っています。
