まことに、わたしは言う。人は熱心に善いことに携わり、多くのことをその自由意志によって行い、義にかなう多くのことを成し遂げなければならない。教義と聖約58:27
Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness. Doctrine and Covenants 58:27
One of the great blessings of the Gospel is that there are very few things that we “must” do to be saved. There are Priesthood ordinances, of course, that we must receive, such as baptism, confirmation, and temple ordinances, but there are only a few of those.
There is no commandment that says we must introduce at least 15 people to the Gospel to be saved. There is no commandment that says we must find at least 250 of our own ancestors and do their temple work to be saved. There is no commandment that says we must serve as a Bishop or a Relief Society president to be saved.
The Lord does not expect us to be perfect. He does not expect us to do everything that someone else may be able to do. He does not expect us do more than we can. “…for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength…” (Mosiah 4:27).
What the Lord does expect is for each of us to do our very best. Each of us have different circumstances in our lives. We each have our own individual talents and abilities. We each have our own challenges and difficulties and problems.
While we cannot do everything, we each can do something. We can do our best to be “…anxiously engaged in a good cause…”. We can do our best to serve others. We can do our best in our callings. We can do our best each day to keep the commandments. We can do our best to help others with their burdens and problems.
That is all the Lord expects of us. If we do our best, we will receive the blessings that we need.
Do your best! 頑張って!
Let’s all have a good week.
