Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.  Ephesians 2:19-20

In his letter to the members of the Church in Ephesus, the apostle Paul teaches us an important doctrine about the universality of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The gospel is not limited to just one group of people or to just one nation. Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and who accepts the gospel is part of the Church of Jesus Christ.

パウロがエペソの教会員に宛てた手紙で、彼がイエス・キリストの福音の普遍性に関する重要な教義を私たちに教えています。福音は特定のグループや国家だけに限られたものではありません。イエス・キリストを信じ、福音を受け入れる人は誰でもキリストの教会員なのです。

Paul teaches us another important doctrine.  He teaches us the Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and that the apostles and prophets are the leaders chosen to guide the Church.  

パウロは他にも大切な教義を私たちに教えています。彼はイエス・キリストは教会のかしらであり、使徒と預言者は教会を導くために選ばれた指導者であると私たちに教えています。

The apostles and prophets led the Church after the resurrection of the Savior for a period of time.  But, because of the great persecutions by wicked people, those leaders were all killed. With no apostles or prophets, there could no longer be any priesthood authority or revelation.

使徒と預言者は救い主の復活後、ある期間教会を導きました。しかし、邪悪な人々による大きな迫害のためそれらの指導者は全員殺されました。使徒と預言者がいなくなったことで神権の権能や啓示が無くなってしまいました。

Today, as part of the great Restoration, the Lord has again called apostles and prophets to lead and guide us.  Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, the authority of the priesthood has been restored and the Church of Jesus Christ is again on the earth.

今日、偉大な回復により主は再び私たちを導くために使徒と預言者を召されました。預言者ジョセフ・スミスを通して神権の権能が回復され、イエス・キリストの教会が再び地上に設立されました。

Do we understand what a great and wonderful blessing that is?

それがどれ程、偉大で素晴らしい祝福なのか分かりますか？

Centuries have past without the light of revelation, without apostles, without prophets.  Millions of people have searched for the truth, but have been unable to find it. Darkness has reigned on the earth.

啓示の光や使徒、預言者が幾世紀も無いまま過ぎました。計り知れない数の人々が真理を探し求めましたが、見出すことは出来ませんでした。暗黒が地上を覆っていたのです。

Today, as the blessings of the Restoration shine forth, the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ is a beacon to everyone who honestly seeks the truth.  Ordinances can be performed under the authority of the priesthood that bless lives on this earth and through the eternities.  

今日、回復の祝福が輝き、イエス・キリストの福音の光は素直に真理を求めるすべての人にとって道しるべとなっています。幾つもの儀式がこの地上に住む人々を永遠にわたり祝福する神権の権能のもとに執行されるようになりました。

Next weekend, we will have the privilege of being taught by the chosen apostles and prophets of our day.  We will be taught the things that Jesus Christ wants us to know today. Through revelation, apostles and prophets will teach us the word of God.

来週、私たちは現代の選ばれた使徒と預言者から教えを聞く特権があります。私たちはイエス・キリストが今日私たちに知ってほしい事柄について教えを受けます。啓示を通して、使徒と預言者は神の言葉を私たちに教えてくれます。

何と素晴らしい祝福でしょう。

President Nelson has asked us to prepare for General Conference by studying the events of the Restoration.  In particular, he has suggested that we read about the First Vision, as recorded by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the Pearl of Great Price.  He has invited us to ponder and pray and to deepen our testimonies of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

ネルソン大管長は回復の出来事を学んで総大会に臨むようよう私たちに望んでおられます。特に、私たちに高価なる真珠にある預言者ジョセフ・スミスが記した最初の示現について読むよう勧められました。私たちに熟考し、祈り、イエス・キリストの福音の回復に対する証を深めるよう招待されました。

We will have the opportunity to read and study the messages that will be delivered to us during General Conference.  We can watch those messages on the Church web site. We can read those messages in the Ensign and Liahona. We can strengthen our testimonies of the gospel as we put into action in our own lives the counsel given to us by those apostles and prophets.

私たちには総大会で私たちに届けられるメッセージを読み、学ぶ機会があります。教会のウェブサイトにあるメッセージを視聴することが出来ます。教会の機関誌にあるメッセージを読むことが出来ます。私たちは使徒と預言者から与えられる勧告を自分自身の生活に取り入れることで福音の証を強めることが出来ます。

General Conference is a great blessing.  

総大会は素晴らしい祝福です。

As we go through this next week, let’s prepare our hearts and minds to receive the messages of General Conference.  Let’s prepare spiritually to be taught by the Holy Ghost as we listen to the messages of apostles and prophets. Let’s study the messages and follow the counsel that we will be given.  

新しい週が始まります。総大会のメッセージを受けるために心と想いを備えましょう。使徒と預言者のメッセージを聞く時、聖霊により教えられるよう霊的に備えましょう。メッセージを研究し与えられる勧告に従いましょう。
