そして祭司たちが、神の言葉を民に告げるために仕事を休めば、民もまた神の言葉を聞くために仕事を休んだ。そして、祭司たちが彼らに神の言葉を告げ終えると、彼らは皆、再び自分たちの仕事に戻り、熱心に働いた。教えを説く者は聞く者よりも偉いわけではなく、教える者は学ぶ者よりも偉いわけではないので、祭司は自分自身を自分の話を聞く者よりも優れているとは思わなかった。このように、彼らは皆、平等であった。そして、彼らは皆、各々自分の力に応じて働いた。アルマ章１：２６

And when the priests left their labor to impart the word of God unto the people, the people also left their labors to hear the word of God.  And when the priest had imparted unto them the word of God they all returned again diligently unto their labors; and the priest, not esteeming himself above his hearers, for the preacher was no better than the learner; and thus they were all equal, and they did all labor, every man according to his strength.  Alma 1:26

This will be General Conference weekend.  With the wonderful technology that we have today, we are able to listen to all the Conference messages.  It does not matter where we live.  If we live in California, if we live in Utah, if we live in Japan, we can listen to the Conference messages.

今週末は総大会です。今日の優れた技術のおかげですべての総大会メッセージを聴くことができます。カリフォルニアでも、ユタでも、日本でも、どこに住んでいようと大会のメッセージを聴くことができます。

And, we can choose the language that we feel most comfortable with.  When Yumiko and I watch the Conference sessions, I can listen in English and she can listen in Japanese.  It is really amazing.  Just log on to the Church web site at lds.org.

We believe that we will hear messages from Prophets, Apostles, and other priesthood and auxiliary leaders.  We believe that each person who gives a talk will be inspired by the Holy Ghost.  We believe that these messages are revelation for us today.  

私たちは預言者、使途、他、神権、補助組織の指導者からメッセージを聴けると信じています。私たちは話者が聖霊に感じて語ることを信じています。語られるメッセージは今日の私たちのための啓示だと信じています。

But, like everything else in the gospel, obtaining the blessings from General Conference requires action on our part.

しかし福音のほかの原則と同じように、総大会から祝福を得るには私たちがすべきことをしなければなりません。

As Alma teaches us, when the Prophets and Apostles leave their work to present inspired messages to us, we need to leave our work and listen to those messages.  

アルマが教えるように預言者や使途が私たちに霊感によるメッセージを伝えるために彼らが仕事を離れるように、私たちもそれらのメッセージを聴くために仕事を離れる必要があります。

For some of us, due to work requirements or time zone problems, it is not always possible to listen to the messages of Conference as they are happening.

If we are not able to hear the messages as they are given, we have the duty to take action and use the technology that the Lord has provided for us.

We can use the Internet at lds.org to listen to all the Conference messages at any time.  We can listen to the messages, we can watch the videos, and we can print the messages.  If we do not have access to the Internet, we can read all the messages in the Ensign or Liahona. 

私たちはインターネットを使いLDS.ORG で全ての大会メッセージをいつでも聴くことができます。メッセージを聴き、ビデオを観、メッセージを印刷することができます。もしインターネットへのアクセスがないときはEnsign やLiahona で全てのメッセージを読むことができます。

Just as it is the duty of the Prophets and Apostles to leave their work and to teach us, it is our duty to leave our work and to study the messages they give us.

預言者や使途が仕事を離れ私たちを教えることが務めであるように、仕事を離れ与えられるメッセージを学ぶことは私たちの義務、務めなのです。

I know that these messages from the Prophets and Apostles are inspired messages.  They are revelation to us.  They will teach us what we need to know.  

これら預言者や使途からのメッセージは霊感を受けて与えられるメッセージです。それらは私たちに対して与えられる啓示です。彼らは私たちが今知るべき事柄を教えてくれます。

May we “leave our work to hear the word of God”.  May we study the inspired messages that we are given.  May we learn the things that we need to learn.

「神のみ言葉を聴くために仕事を離れ」ましょう。私たちに伝えられた霊感あふれるメッセージを学べますように。私たちが今必要なことを学べますように。
