求めなさい。そうすれば、与えられるであろう。捜しなさい。そうすれば、見いだすであろう。たたきなさい。そうすれば、開かれるであろう。すべて求める者は与えられ、捜す者は見いだし、たたく者には開かれるからである。第三ニーファイ１４：７－８
Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. 3 Nephi 14:7-8
This is a scripture that we have read many times. It is a familiar scripture. It is a simple scripture.
これは今までに何度も読んだことのある聖句でしょう。良く知られている、わかりやすい聖句です。
But there are important messages in this short scripture.
しかしこの短い聖句には大切なメッセージが含まれています。
The first important message is that we must take action. None of the blessings listed in this scripture come to us until after we have done our part.
最初の大切なメッセージは行動しなければならないと言うことです。この聖句で述べられているどの祝福も自分のすべきことをするまでは与えられません。
Read the scripture carefully. Notice the words that are used.
注意深くこの聖句を読んでください。使われている言葉に注目してみてください。
Ask.
求めなさい
Seek.
探しなさい
Knock.
たたきなさい
These are all action verbs.
これらはすべて行動動詞です。
The Lord knows exactly what we need. He knows our weaknesses. He knows our trials and problems. He wants to help us.
主は私たちが何を必要としてかちゃんとご存知です。私たちの弱点や試練、問題もご存知です。主は私たちを助けたいと思っておられます。
But the Law of Free Agency cannot be violated. We must first choose to make the right decisions. We must first choose to keep the commandments. We must first choose to take action.
しかし自由意志の律法を曲げることはできません。私たちはまず最初に正しい決断を下さなければなりません。戒めを守ることを選択し、行動する選択をしなければなりません。
If we choose to do these things, then we are promised special blessings.
もしこれらを行う選択をすれば、私たちには特別な祝福が約束されています。
In this scripture, the Lord promises us that if we make the right choices and if we take the right action, we will receive great blessings.
この聖句では私たちが正しい選択をし、正しい行動をすれば偉大な祝福を受けると主は約束しておられます。
In verse 8, we are taught that if we ask, we will receive. If we seek, we will find. If we knock, it will be opened.
第８節では私たちがもし求めれば与えられ、捜し求めれば見出し、門をたたけば開かれると教えられています。
The Lord wants to give us all these blessings. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to return and live with him again.
主はこれらすべての祝福を私たちに与えたいと思っておられます。私たちが幸せになることを望んでおられます。主は私たちに主の元に戻り、ともに住むことを望んでおられます。
But we have to choose. We have to take action. We have to make an effort to keep the commandments.
しかし私たちは（自分で正しいことを）選ばなければなりません。私たちは行動をしなければなりません。また戒めを守る努力をしなければなりません。
I know that the Lord loves each and every one of us. I know that he knows each of us. I know that he is ready to help us and to bless us.
私は主が私たち一人一人を愛しておられることを知っています。主は私たち一人一人をご存知であること、また私たちを助け祝福する用意が常に出来ておられると知っています。
But we have to do our part first.
しかし私たちはまず自分のすべきことをしなければなりません。
If we do these things, I know that we will receive all the promised blessings. I know that we will be happier. I know that we will be able to overcome the trials and difficulties in this life.
もしこれらを行うなら、私たちはすべての約束された祝福を受けることを知っています。そして私たちはもっと幸せになると知っています。私たちは人生の試練や困難を乗り越えれると知っています。
This week, may we all make a bigger effort to ask, to seek, to knock. May we do our best to keep all the commandments. May we use the Law of Free Agency and choose the right.
今週も、求め、探し、（門を）たたくよう更なる努力をしましょう。すべての戒めを守るよう最善を尽くしましょう。自由意志の律法を使い、正しい選択をしましょう。
