しかし神は、御自分の御子の御名によって人々に勧めて言われた。（これが用意された贖いの計画である。）「もしあなたがたが悔い改めて、心をかたくなにしなければ、そのとき、わたしは独り子を通じてあなたがたに憐れみを示そう。アルマ１２：３３－３４

But God did call upon men, in the name of his Son, (this being the plan of redemption which was laid) saying: if ye will repent, and harden not your hearts, then will I have mercy upon you, through mine Only Begotten Son; Therefore, whosoever repenteth, and hardeneth not his heart, he shall have claim on mercy through mine Only Begotten Son, unto a remission of his sins; and these shall enter into my rest.  Alma 12:33-34

When Alma and Amulek were preaching to the people in Ammonihah, they taught them about the great plan of salvation.  Unfortunately, the people in Ammonihah did not accept Alma’s counsel. They did not repent and they did harden their hearts.  As a result, they were not able to receive the blessings of the Lord.  Because of their wickedness, they were destroyed by the Lamanites.

アルマとアミュレクがアモナイハの人々に教えを説いているとき、彼らは救いの計画について教えました。残念なことにアモナイハの人々はアルマの勧告を受け入れませんでした。彼らは悔い改めず心をかたくなにしました。そのため主の祝福を受けられませんでした。彼らは邪悪さのためレーマン人に滅ぼされたのです。

The same promise that Alma made to the people in Ammonihah applies to us as well.  We can receive the blessings of the plan of salvation if we will repent and not harden our hearts.

アルマがアモナイハの人々に残したと同じ約束は私たちにも当てはまります。私たちも悔い改めて心をかたくなにしなければ救いの計画の祝福を受けれるのです。

Alma taught the people of Ammonihah how the plan of salvation works.  He taught them about Adam and Eve, about the fall of Adam, and how man had been cut off from the presence of God.

アルマはアモナイハの人々に救いの計画がどういうものか説明しました。彼はアダムとイブ、アダムの堕落、そして人がどのように神のみ前から断ち切られたかを教えました。

Alma also taught them that, without the plan of salvation, we would all be miserable forever.  Without the plan of salvation, we could not return to Heavenly Father again.  Without the plan of salvation, there would be no hope or joy, but only misery.

アルマは更に救いの計画なしに天父のみもとに再び戻ることが出来ないことを教えました。救いの計画なしでは私たちは天父のみもとに再び戻ることが出来ません。救いの計画なしでは希望や喜びはありません。悲しみだけが存在します。

In order for the plan of salvation to bless us, we first need to know about it.  Alma reminds us that God sent messengers to teach Adam and his posterity about the plan.  

救いの計画の祝福を受けるにはまずそれについて知らなければなりません。アルマは神がメッセンジャーを送りアルマと子孫にその計画を教えたことを私たちに思い起こさせています。

The most important part of the plan of salvation is the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  It is only through Jesus Christ that we are able to receive the promised blessings.

救いの計画で最も重要なのは救い主、イエスキリストの贖いです。イエス・キリストの贖いを通してのみ私たちは約束された祝福を受けることが出来るのです。

We are taught that we must repent and believe in God and in his Son, Jesus Christ.  If, and only if, we do this, God promises us that he will have mercy on us.

私たちは悔い改めて神と御子イエス・キリストを信じるよう教えられています。もし、そしてもしそうすることによってのみ神は私たちに憐れみを下さることを約束しておられます。

In this scripture, we are taught very clearly that only those who repent can hope to obtain mercy.  As we repent, we can claim mercy, through our Savior Jesus Christ.  

この聖句で悔い改めたものだけが憐れみを受けることが出来るとはっきり教えられています。悔い改めることで私たちは救い主イエス・キリストに恵みを求めてもよいのです。

As we repent, and as we receive mercy, we are promised two things.  

悔い改め憐れみを受けるとき私たちは二つのことを約束されます。

One, as we repent and believe in Jesus Christ, we will be able to receive a remission of our sins.  This is possible only because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  It is a free gift to everyone who will humbly accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and agree to keep his commandments.

一つ目は私たちが悔い改めイエス・キリストを信じるとき私たちは罪の許しを受けれるということです。これはイエス・キリストの贖いがあってこそ可能となります。それはイエス・キリストが私たちの救い主であり彼の戒めを守るとへりくだって合意したものに与えられる無償の贈り物なのです。

Two, we are promised that we can enter into his rest.  This means that we can once again live with Heavenly Father and receive all the blessings that are promised to those who have faith in Jesus Christ.

二つ目は主の安息に入ることが出来るという約束です。それは私たちが再び天父と共に暮らすことが出来、イエス・キリストに信仰を持つものに約束されたすべての祝福を受けれるということです。

These are two very simple commandments, to repent and to not harden our hearts.  Satan does not want us to receive those blessings.  He does not want us to repent.  He does want us to harden our hearts.  

これらは「悔い改めて心をかたくなにしない」というとても簡単な二つの戒めです。サタンは私たちにその祝福を受けて欲しくありません。私たちに悔い改めて欲しくありません。心をかたくなにして欲しいのです。

We harden our hearts when we refuse to follow the counsel of the prophets.  We harden our hearts when we refuse to follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost.  We harden our hearts when we refuse to keep all of the commandments.

私たちは預言者の勧告に従うのを拒むとき心をかたくなにします。私たちは聖霊のささやきに従うのを拒むとき心をかたくなにします。私たちはすべての戒めに従うことを拒むとき心をかたくなにします。

Let’s be worthy to receive all the blessings promised to the faithful followers of Jesus Christ.  Let’s be worthy to enter into the rest of the Lord.  Let’s repent of our sins.  Let’s go forward with hearts that are willing to keep the commandments.  If we do this, we will be greatly blessed.

イエス・キリストの忠実な従者に約束された全ての祝福を受けれるようふさわしくなりましょう。主の安息に入れるようふさわしくなりましょう。罪を悔い改めましょう。喜んで戒めを守ろうと決心して前進しましょう。そうするなら私たちは多く祝福されるでしょう。
