For thus saith the Lord – I, the Lord, am merciful and gracious unto those who fear me, and delight to honor those who serve me in righteousness and in truth unto the end. Great shall be their reward and eternal shall be their glory. Doctrine and Covenants 76:5-6
This great promise and blessing was given in a revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith and is contained in the 76th Section of the Doctrine and Covenants. In this scripture, wonderful blessings are promised to the faithful Saints.
このすばらしい約束と祝福は預言者ジョセフスミスに与えられたもので教義と誓約76 章に記載されています。この聖句では、すばらしい祝福が忠実な聖徒に約束されています。
This life is hard. We all know that.
この世は辛く困難が多くあります。私たちは皆それを知っています。
But we knew that before we came here. We knew that this life would be a time of trials, difficulties, and testing. And it certainly is.
しかし、私たちはこの世に来る前にそれを知っていました。私たちはこの生涯は試しや、困難、テストの時なのです。確かにその通りなのです。
Sometimes the trials and burdens seem too much for us to bear. We try very hard, but still face challenges. We keep the commandments, but still have trials. We do our best to follow the Savior, but still have difficult tests.
時折、その試練や重荷は背負うには重過ぎると思えることがあります。私たちは一生懸命努力し頑張っていますが、それでも人生のチャレンジに遭遇します。私たちは戒めを守っていますが、それでも試練はやってきます。救い主に従おうと最善を尽くしますが、それでも困難な人生の試験に遭遇します。
The promise given by the Lord in this scripture can be a great help to us when we are struggling.
この聖句で主が約束してくださったのは、私たちがもがき苦しんでいるとき、大いなる助けとなるのです。
In this scripture, the Lord makes two promises.
この聖句で主は二つの約束をしてくださっています。
First, the Lord promises that “great shall be our reward”.
まず最初に、主は「受ける報いは大きい」と約束してくださっています。
Second, the Lord promises that “eternal shall be our glory”.
二つ目に、主は「栄光は永遠である」と約束されています。
Those are wonderful blessings. Those are blessings that we really want to receive. Those are blessings that are much greater than any temporary difficulties.
素晴らしい祝福ではありませんか。それらは私たちが真に受けたいと思う祝福です。それらの祝福はとても大きく現世のどんな問題も取るに足りない小さなものに見えてきます。
What do we have to do to receive those blessings?
その祝福を享受するために私たちは何をしなければならないでしょうか？
We need to serve the Lord “in righteousness and truth”.
私たちは「義をもって真理にかなって」主に仕える必要があります。
For how long?
どれくらいの期間をでしょうか？
We need to serve the Lord “until the end”.
私たちは「最後まで」主に仕える必要があります。
If we do these things, our reward is sure. The Lord always keeps his promises. We know that we will receive the promised blessings as long as we do our part.
私たちがこれらを行うとき、間違いなく確かな報いを受けるのです。主はいつでも約束をお守りになります。私たちが自分のすべきことを行っている限りその約束された祝福を受けることを知っています。
May we go forward with greater determination to serve the Lord. May we serve him in righteousness and truth. May we serve him until the end.
主に仕えるという更に強い決意を持って前進できますように。義と真理をもって主に仕えれますように。そして最後まで仕えることが出来ますように。
I know that these things are true. I know that we must keep the commandments. I know that we must serve the Lord. I know that we will receive great rewards in Heaven and eternal glory in the world to come.
私はこれらの事が真実だと知っています。私たちは主の戒めを守り、主に仕えねばならないことを知っています。私たちは天において偉大な祝福を受け、来るべき世において永遠の栄光を受けることを知っています。
