Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand. Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you; Taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked; And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me, and be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall also be. In this revelation given to the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Lord teaches us about our duties in this life. The Lord explains what we need to do to be happy. He teaches us that it takes effort on our part.
預言者ジョセフスミスに与えられたこの啓示では主が私たちのこの世での義務について教えておられます。主は私たちが幸せであるために何をすべきか教えておられます。主は私たちの方で努力が必要だと教えられました。
In this revelation, the Lord uses the image of a warrior preparing for battle. It doesn’t matter whether someone is a knight or a samurai. Armor is very important to both of them when they go to battle. Their armor protects them against their enemy and helps them win the battle.
この啓示で主は戦いに備える戦士を比喩として使っておられます。騎士なのかサムライなのかどちらでもかまいません。戦いに出向くとき武具はとても大切なものです。かれらの武具は敵から守ってくれ戦いに勝つ助けになります。
Spiritual armor is just as important to each of us in our own lives. Just like the knight and the samurai, we are in daily battle with evil. And, just like the knight and the samurai, we need strong armor to help us win.
霊的な武具も私たち個々の人生で同じように大切なものです、騎士やサムライのように私たちは日々悪と戦っています。私たちは（その戦いに）勝てるよう丈夫な武具が必要です。
First, we need the “breastplate of righteousness”. If we do not keep the commandments, we cannot win. That is the first and most basic piece of spiritual armor.
まず最初に私たちは「正義の胸当て」が必要です。もし戒めを守らなければ勝つことはできません。それが最初でまたもっとも基本的な武具なのです。
Next, we need the “shield of faith”. Satan and his helpers try to attack us every day. They put temptations in our path. They try to trick us. They want us to make bad choices. We need the “shield of faith” to protect ourselves from those attacks. We put on the “shield of faith” by reading the scriptures and studying the words of the prophets.
次に「信仰の盾」が必要です。サタンと彼の仲間は毎日私たちを攻撃しようとしています。彼らは行く手に誘惑を置きます。騙そうとします。私たちが間違った選択をするように願っています。私たちはそれらの攻撃から守る「信仰の盾」が必要なのです。聖典を読み、預言者の言葉を学ぶことで「信仰の盾」を立てることが出来ます。
Then we need the “helmet of salvation”. The “helmet of salvation” is a spiritual protection for our minds and our thoughts. We put on the “helmet of salvation” by attending our Church meetings, by serving in our callings, and by attending the Temple.
そして「救いのかぶと」が必要です。「救いのかぶと」は心や思いを守ってくれる霊的な武具です。私たちは教会に出席し、召しを遂行し、神殿に参入することで「救いのかぶと」をかぶるのです。
Finally, we need the “sword of his Spirit”. The sword is a symbol of strength and power. We gain spiritual strength and power by putting on the “whole armor”. We gain spiritual strength by making correct choices. We gain spiritual strength by praying always.
最後に「御霊の剣」が必要です。剣は力と強さの象徴です。私たちは「主の武具」をまとう事で霊的な力と強さを得るのです。正しい選択をすることで力を得ます。いつも祈ることで霊的な力を得ます。
In this world of evil, we each need to put on our spiritual armor every day. Just as the knight or the samurai would never go into battle without their armor, we should never be without our spiritual armor.
この悪の世で、私たちは日々霊の武具をまとう必要があります。丁度、騎士やサムライが武具なしで戦いに行かないように、私たちも霊の武具をまとわずにいてはいけません。
If we follow the instructions in this revelation, we will be able to “lift us our hearts and rejoice”. We will be able to “withstand the evil day”. And most importantly of all, we will “be caught up, that where I am ye shall also be”. The greatest blessing we can ever hope for is to be with our Heavenly Father again.
この啓示の教えに従うならば「私たちの心を高めて喜べ」るのです。私たちは「災いの日に耐えられる」のです。そして最も大切なことは「私たちは引き上げられて、主のおられる所に私たちもいるようになる」のです。私たちがのぞめる最高の祝福は天の御父と再びいっしょになれるということです。
I know that these blessings are possible. I know that we have a great need for our spiritual armor. I know that, if we follow what we are taught in this revelation from the Lord, that we will be able to win the battle. I know that we can do this.
私はこれらの祝福を享受できると知っています。霊の武具がとても必要なものだと知っています。主からのこの啓示の教えに従うならば戦いに勝てると知っています。私たちが（これらの教えに従って行動することが）出来ると知っています。
