I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise.  Doctrine & Covenants 82:10

In this scripture, we are taught one of the fundamental principles of the gospel.  It is simple and easy to understand.  

この聖句では、基本的な福音の原則を教えています。簡潔でわかりやすい原則です。

Every commandment of the Lord comes with a promise.  

主のすべての戒めには約束があります。

Here are a few simple examples.  We are told that if we obey the law of tithing, the windows of heaven will be opened and we will receive great blessings.  We are told that if we obey the Word of Wisdom, we shall run and not be weary, and walk and not faint.  The Nephites and the Lamanites were told that, if they kept the commandments of the Lord, they would prosper in the land.

いくつかの簡単な例をあげましょう。什分の一の律法に従えば、天の窓が開かれ、大きな祝福を受けると言われています。知恵の言葉に従えば、走っても疲れず、歩いても弱ることはないと言われています。ニーファイ人とレーマン人は、主の戒めを守れば、その地で栄えると言われました。

Every other commandment of the Lord also includes a promised blessing.

主のすべての戒めには、約束された祝福が含まれています。

The Lord always keeps his promises.  As king Benjamin taught, “he doth require that ye should do as he hath commanded you; for which if ye do, he doth immediately bless you.” (Mosiah 2:24)

主はいつも約束を守ってくださいます。ベニヤミン王が教えたように「神はあなたがたが神から命じられたとおりに行うことを要求しておられる。そして、あなたがたが命じられたとおりに行うならば、神はすぐに祝福を授けてくださる。」 （モーサヤ2:24）

It is very easy to receive blessings.  The only variable is our own behavior.

祝福を受けるのはとても簡単です。唯一、変えることが出来るのは私たち自身の行動です。

Sometimes, although we want a blessing, we are not willing to keep the commandment fully.  We want to take short cuts.  We want to find excuses.  We want to look for exceptions.

私たちは祝福を欲しいのに戒めを完全に守ろうとしないことがあります。近道をしたいとか言い訳を見つけたい、例外を探したいと思ったりします。

Then, when the promised blessings are not received, we try to blame it on the Lord.  But the truth is that we did not receive the blessing because we did not keep the commandment with all our heart.

そして、約束された祝福が来ないとき、私たちは主を責めようとします。しかし、真実は私たちが心から戒めを守らなかったので、祝福を受けなかったということです。

If you want to receive the blessings promised in the Word of Wisdom, you must keep the commandment fully and honestly.  

知恵の言葉で約束された祝福を受けたいのなら、戒めを完全かつ正直に守らなければなりません。

If you want to receive the blessings promised in the Law of Tithing, you must keep the commandment fully and honestly.

什分の一の律法で約束された祝福を受けたいのなら、戒めを完全かつ正直に守らなければなりません。

If you want to receive the blessings promised by any other commandment, the same truth applies.  You must keep the commandment fully and honestly.

他の戒めでも約束された祝福を受けたいのなら、同じ真理が当てはまります。あなたは戒めを完全かつ正直に守らなければなりません。

If you do keep the commandment fully and honestly, the Lord will send you all the promised blessings.  Those blessings may not come instantly, but they will come in the due time of the Lord.  

もしあなたが戒めを完全にそして正直に守るならば、主はあなたに約束されたすべての祝福を送ってくださいます。それらの祝福はすぐには来ないかもしれませんが、主の時に必ず来るでしょう。

The Lord will never vary from his promises.  He wants to send blessings to us.  He loves us and wants us to be happy.  He has given us very clear instructions on how we can receive those blessings and how we can be happy.  All we have to do is to do our part and keep the commandments.

主は約束をたがえることはなさいません。主は私たちに祝福を送りたいと思っておられます。私たちを愛しておられ、私たちが幸せになることを望んでおられます。それらの祝福をどのように受けれるのか、そしてどのように幸せになれるのか、非常に明確な指示を与えてくださいました。私たちがするべきことは、自分の務めを果たし、戒めを守ることだけです。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember this principle.  Let’s remember that we need to fully and honestly keep the commandments if we want to receive the blessings.  Let’s remember that the Lord always keeps his promises.  Let’s do our part.

新しい週が始まります。日々の生活の中で、この原則を思い出しましょう。祝福を受けたいのなら、戒めを完全かつ正直に守る必要があることを忘れないでください。主は常に約束を守ってくださることを忘れないでください。私たち自身の務めを果たしましょう。
