すべて重荷を負うで苦労している者は、わたしのもとにきなさい。あなたがたを休ませてあげよう。わたしは柔和で心のへりくだった者であるから、わたしのくびきを負うで、わたしに学びなさい。そうすれば、あなたがたの魂に休みが与えられるであろう。わたしのくびきは負いやすく、わたしの荷は軽いがらである。マタイ書１１：２８－３０

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

A “burden” is a heavy load.  A “burden” is a difficult thing.  A “burden” is an unpleasant trial.

「重荷」とは重い荷物のことです。「重荷」は困難なものであり「重荷」は不快な試練です。

We all have many trials and burdens in this life.  Some burdens are a result of our own bad decisions.  Some burdens are a result of the bad decisions of others.  Some burdens are just part of the trials of life.

私たちは人生に多くの試練や重荷を抱えています。重荷の幾つかは自身の悪い決断によるものであったり、幾つかは他人の悪い決断によるものです。また幾つかは単に人生の試練です。

We were told before we came to this life that we would have many burdens.  We were told that it would be difficult.  We were told that it would be hard.

私たちはこの世に来る前に多くの重荷を受けることになると言われました。私たちはそれが難しいとも聞かされていましたし、それが大変だとも聞かされていました。

But, we knew that we had to experience these burdens in order to grow and to progress.  We wanted to become like our Heavenly Father.  We wanted to get a physical body.  We wanted to come back and live with our Father again.

しかし私たちが進歩成長するためにそれらの重荷を経験しなければならないと聞かされていました。私たちは天父のようになりたいと望み、肉体を得たいと望んでいました。また私たちは再び天父のもとに戻って共に住みたいと望んでいました。

Now we are all in the testing period.  We are all carrying burdens.  We are all experiencing difficulties and trials.

今、私たちは全員ためしの時期にいます。私たちは全員重荷を背負い、困難や試練を経験しています。

The Lord loves us and wants to help us through this test.  He knows how difficult it is for each of us.  He knows that we must experience these things.  

主は私たちを愛しこのテストを通り抜ける手助けをしたいと望んでおられます。また主はそれが私たち各々にどれほど困難なものかをご存知です。主は私たちはそれらを経験しなければならないこともご存知です。

So he helps us by giving us the scriptures.  He helps us by giving us prophets and apostles.  He helps us by giving us prayer and repentance.

それで主は私たちに助けの手を差し伸べておられます。それは聖典をくださることや使徒や預言者を与えてくださることだったりします。また祈りや悔い改めという手段だったりします。

He wants us to be successful.  He wants us to keep his commandments.  He wants us to have faith.

主は私たちに成功して欲しいと望んでおられます。主は私たちが主の戒めを守ることや信仰を持つことを望んでおられます。

In this scripture, the Lord reminds us about his great love for us.  He calls to all of us that “labor and are heavy laden”.  He says, “I will give you rest”.

この聖句で、主は私たちに主の偉大な愛を思い起こさせてくださいます。主は私たちを「重荷を負うで苦労している」者と呼ばれます。主は「あなたがたを休ませてあげよう」と言われます。

If we follow the Savior, we will not have all of our burdens taken away.  But we will “find rest for our souls”.  This means that the Lord will bless us and strengthen us as we struggle with our burdens.  

私たちが救い主に従うとき、私たちのすべての重荷が取り去られるわけではありません。しかし「私たちの魂に休みが与えられる」のです。これは私たちが重荷と闘うとき主は私たちを祝福し強めてくださるという意味なのです。

May we all seek the peace that our Savior offers to us.  May we do our best to keep all the commandments.  May we all find rest for our souls.  May the blessings of the Lord be with all of us, this day and always.

救い主が用意してくださる平安を捜し求めようではありませんか。すべての戒めを最善を尽くして守ろうではありませんか。魂に安らぎを見つけられますように。主の祝福が今日そして常に私たちと共にありますように。

I know that these things are true.  I know that we can find peace and rest if we keep the commandments.  I know that the Lord loves each one of us.  I know that he will bless us and guide us.

私はこれらが真実だと知っています。私は戒めを守るとき平安と安らぎを見つけることが出来るを知っています。私は主が私たち一人一人を愛しておられると知っています。私は主が私たちを祝福し導いてくださることを知っています。

“For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

「わたしのくびきは負いやすく、わたしの荷は軽いからである。」
