しかし見よ、わたしはあなたがたに言っておく。あなたがたは気を落とさずに常に祈らなければならない。そして、主があなたがたの行うことを神聖にしてくださり、あなたがたの行うことが自分自身に幸いをもたらすものとなるように、キリストの名によってまず御父に祈らずには、主のためにどんなことも行ってはならない。ニーファイ第ニ書３２：９

But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.  2 Nephi 32:9

Each of us have many opportunities to serve in the Lord’s Kingdom.  We have various callings in the Church to help us serve others.  We also have opportunities every day to serve those around us, our families, our friends, and even strangers.

私達には神の王国で働く多くの機会があります。教会の中では隣人に仕えることを助けてくれる色々な責任（コーリング）があります。私達には毎日、周りにいる人々、家族、友人、他見知らぬ人々のために尽くす機会があります。

In this scripture, Nephi teaches how we are to prepare to serve.  He teaches us the correct way to serve.

この聖句ではニーファイがどのようにして私達が仕える備えをすべきか教えています。また正しく仕える方法を教えています。

First of all, he teaches us that we must pray always.  In the verses just before this, he reminds us that Satan does not want us to pray.  He says “for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but that he must not pray.” He tells us that this is a trick of Satan.

まず最初に、常に祈るように教えています。この直ぐ前の聖句ではサタンは私たちに祈って欲しくないとリマインドしています。

In this verse, Nephi teaches us that it is very important to pray always.  If we pray always, we will always be guided by the Spirit of the Lord. 

この聖句ではニーファイは常に祈ることの大切さを教えています。常に祈ることで主の御霊が私たちを常に導いてくれるのです。

Second, Nephi teaches us that we always need to pray before we do anything.  Before we “perform any thing unto the Lord”, we are taught that it is important to pray.

ふたつめに、ニーファイは何であれ事をなす前に祈ることが必要だと教えています。私たちは「主のために事をなす」前に祈ることの大切さを教えられています。

This means before we teach a class, before we give a talk, before we go home teaching or visiting teaching, or before we do anything else, we need to pray first.  We need to pray for the Spirit of Lord to guide us and to help us. 

これはクラスで教える前や、お話をする前、ホームティーチングや家庭訪問をする前、他、何をする前にも先ず最初にお祈りする必要があるということです。主の御霊が私たちを導き助けてくれるようお祈りする必要があります。

If we follow the words of Nephi, we are promised that the Lord will bless us.  We are promised that the Lord will help us.  We are promised that what we do will be “for the welfare of thy soul”. 

ニーファイの言葉に従うなら私たちは主が祝福してくださるという約束を受けています。主が私たちを助けてくださるという約束を受けています。私たちのなすことが「自分自身に幸いをもたらしてくれる」という約束を受けています。

If we pray always, we will be guided in our service.  We will be able to do things we did not think we could do.  We will be able to say the right things.  We will be able to do the right things.  We will be able to help others come unto Christ.

常に祈るならば私たちは奉仕や働きに導きを受けるでしょう。出来ないと考えていたことが出来るようになるでしょう。正しいことが言えるようになるでしょう。正しいことができるようになるでしょう。他の人がキリストのもとにこれる手助けが出来るでしょう。

This week, let us work hard to follow these teachings.  Let us work hard to pray always.  Let us work hard to serve in the proper way.

今週もこれらの教えに従えるよう頑張りましょう。常にお祈りするよう頑張りましょう。適切な方法で働き奉仕が出来るよう頑張りましょう。

I know that these teaching are true.  I know that if we follow them, we will be guided by the Spirit.  I know that we will be able to better serve.  I know that we will be able to touch the hearts of those around us. 

これらの教えが真実であると知っています。それらに従えば御霊に導かれることを知っています。よりよく仕えることができると知っています。私たちの周りにいる人びとの心を動かすことができると知っています。
