わたしの教会は、終わりの時にこのように、すなわち末日聖徒イエス・キリスト教会と呼ばれなければならない。まことに、わたしはあなたがたすべてに言う。立って光を放ちなさい。それは、あなたがたの光がもろもろ国民のための旗となるためであり。。。

For thus shall my church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations. Doctrine & Covenants 115:4-5
In the October, 2018 General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson gave us instruction on the proper name of the Church. He taught us that we need to use the name given by the Lord in revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith. The name that we are to use is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This revelation can be found in Section 115 of the Doctrine & Covenants.
2018 年秋の総大会でラッセル・Ｍ・ネルソン大管長は教会の適切な呼び名について教えられました。彼は主がジョセフ・スミスに啓示で与えられた名前を使う必要があると教えられました。私たちが使うべき名前は「末日聖徒イエス・キリスト教会」です。この啓示は教義と聖約１１５章に載っています。
It is interesting to see what is happening as we begin to correctly use the proper name of the Church. It opens up opportunities for us to explain more about the Church, to testify of the Savior Jesus Christ, and to share our love of him with others.
適切な教会の名前を使い始めたことで興味深いことが起こっています。教会について説明し、救い主イエス・キリストを証し、救い主への愛を分かち合う機会が増えています。
As we have these opportunities, we need to remember the counsel given to us in verse 5. We are told to “arise and shine forth”. The Lord says this is a commandment for all of us.
こうした機会が増えていますが私たちは5 節で与えられた勧告を忘れてはいけません。「立って光を放ちなさい」と教えられています。主はそれが私たちすべてに与えられた戒めであると言われています。
This is a call for action. From the earliest days of the Church in this dispensation, we have been expected to be examples of followers of Jesus Christ.
これは行動を要求しています。この神権時代で教会の初期の頃から私たちはイエス・キリストの従者の模範となるよう期待されています。
Do people around you know that you are a member of the Lord’s true Church? Do people around you recognize you as a follower of Jesus Christ? Do people around you see you as an example of a person who keeps the commandments?
あなたの周りにいる人はあなたが主の真の教会の会員だと知っていますか？かれらはあなたがイエス・キリストの従者だと認めていますか？また、あなたを戒めを守っている模範的な人として見ていますか？
We are commanded to do more than just “arise”. We are commanded to “shine forth”.
私たちはただ「立つ」こと以上に行うことを誡められています。「光を放つ」よう戒められています。
How do we do that?
ではどのようにしたらよいでしょう？
We “shine forth” when we are worthy to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. We “shine forth” when we minister to the needs of others. We “shine forth” as we humbly and quietly serve those in need.
私たちが聖霊を伴侶とする時「光を放ち」ます。私たちが助けの必要な誰かをミニスタリングする時「光を放ち」ます。私たちが助けの必要な人に謙虚でしかも誰にも知られることなく奉仕する時「光を放ち」ます。
Why do we need to “shine forth”?
私たちはどうして「光を放つ」必要があるのでしょう？
The Lord instructs us to shine forth that we may be “a standard unto the nations”. We are expected to show others, by our example, how to live the principles of the gospel. We are expected to show others what the standards of the gospel are. We are expected to be a light unto those who have not yet learned about Jesus Christ.
主は私たちが光を放ち「国民のための旗となる」よう教えておられます。私たちは福音の原則に従って生活することを模範によって他の人に示すよう期待されています。福音の標準が何なのか他の人に示すよう期待されています。私たちはイエス・キリストについて学んだことのない人の光となるよう期待されています。
As we grow in faith and begin to “arise and shine forth”, we will become better followers of our Savior. We will be able to be instruments in the hand of the Lord to help others come unto Christ. We will be able to light the path for others to follow.
私たちが信仰を増し「立って光を放ち」始めることで、救い主のより良い従者となるのです。私たちは
他の誰かがキリストの元へ来るよう主のみ腕となって働けるのです。他の人が従えるよう道を照らしてあげれるのです。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember that we have been commanded to “shine forth”. Let’s remember to set a proper example. Let’s remember that we are to be a light to help others find the truth.
私たちが「光を放つ」よう戒められていることを覚えて今週も過ごしましょう。適切な模範を示すことを忘れないようにしましょう。他の人が真理を見つけられるよう光となることを忘れないようにしましょう。
