そして見よ、わたしはあなたがたに言う。あなたがたがこのようにするならば、いつも喜びを感じ、神の愛で、満たされ、またいつも罪の許しを保てるであろう。またあなたがたをつくられた御方の栄光、すなわち、正しく真実な事柄をますます知るようになるであろう。またあなたがたは、互いに傷つけ合う心を持たず、平和に暮らし、あらゆる人にその人が当然受けるべきものを与えたいと思うようになるであろう。モーサヤ４：１２−１３
And behold, I say unto you that if you do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, an always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true. And ye will not have a mind to injure one another, but to live peaceably, and to render to every man according to that which is his due. Mosiah 4:12-13
This scripture is from king Benjamin’s great message to his people, just prior to his death. In that talk, king Benjamin teaches us many important things. In particular, he teaches us how to live so that we can be happy.
この聖句はベニヤミン王が亡くなる少し前、彼が国民に当てた素晴らしいメッセージです。その中でベニヤミン王は多くの大切なことを私たちに教えています。特に彼はどう生きたら幸せになれるのか教えています。
In verse 11, just before this scripture, king Benjamin reminds his people that they must repent. He tells them that they must remember their own nothingness and of God’s great love for each of them. He tells them that they must be humble. Finally, he tells them that they must pray every day and endure to the end.
すぐ前の11節でベニヤミン王は悔い改めねばならないことを民に教えています。自分たちは取るに足りない人間であることと神の偉大な愛を忘れてはならないことを教えています。謙遜でなければならないことも教えています。最後に彼は日々祈り最後まで耐え忍ぶよう教えています。
In verses 12 and 13, king Benjamin then explains to his people the blessings that will come to them if they do all these things.
12節と13節ではベニヤミン王がこれらの事をすべて行う時にやって来る祝福について民に説明しています。
First, he tells them that they will always rejoice.
まず最初に、常に喜びを感じると教えています。
What a great blessing this is! Do you want to “always rejoice”? Follow the words of king Benjamin.
何と素晴らしい祝福でしょう！あなたは「常に喜びを感じて」いたいですか？それならベニヤミンの言葉に従いましょう。
Next, he tells them that they will always be filled with the love of God.
次に、常に神の愛で満たされると教えています。
What does it mean to be filled with the love of God? It means to feel God’s great love for you as an individual. It means to feel the presence of his Spirit with you. It means to understand your individual worth and potential as a child of God.
神の愛で満たされるとはどういうことでしょう？それはあなたが神から個人的に愛されていると感じることです。神の御霊の存在を感じるということです。あなたが神の子供として価値と可能性があることを理解することです。
Next, king Benjamin tells this people that they will always retain a remission of their sins.
そしてベニヤミン王は彼らがいつも罪の許しを保てると民に教えています。
All of us make mistakes. All of us commit sins. All of us need to repent. By following the words of king Benjamin, we can be forgiven of our sins. Through the great Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to repent and to become clean. If we do what king Benjamin teaches us, we will always retain a remission of our sins
私たちは誰でも間違いを犯します。誰もが罪を犯します。ですから誰もが悔い改めが必要です。ベニヤミン王の言葉に従うことで私たちの罪は赦されます。救い主イエス・キリストの偉大な贖いを通して私たちは悔い改め、清くなる機会があるのです。ベニヤミン王が教えることを行うならば私たちは常に罪の赦しを保つのです。
Finally, he tells them that they will grow in knowledge of that which is just and true.
最後に、彼は正しく真実な事柄をますます知るようになると教えています。
We will grow in the knowledge of God and in the knowledge of his great plan for us. As we grow in knowledge of that which is just and true, our faith will increase and our testimonies will become stronger.
私たちは神の知識と私たちに建てられた偉大な計画の知識が増し加えられるのです。正しく真実な事柄をますます知るようになると、私たちの信仰が増し、証が強まるのです。
As we do all these things, what will happen to us?
これらすべてを行うと私たちには何が起こるでしょう？
King Benjamin tells us that we will become better people. He tells us that we will treat others with greater kindness. He tells us that we will live peacefully with others. He tells us that we will want to help others enjoy the blessings of the gospel.
ベニヤミン王はこのように教えています。私たちはより良い人間になります。もっと親切に他の人に接するようになります。他の人と仲良く平和に暮らすようになります。他の人が福音の祝福を楽しめるよう助けたいと思うようになります。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember what king Benjamin taught us. Let’s be humble and pray every day. Let’s remember the great Atonement of Jesus Christ. Let’s stand steadfast in faith.
ベニヤミン王の教えを覚えて今週を過ごしましょう。謙遜であり、祈りも毎日しましょう。イエス・キリストの贖いを忘れないようにしましょう。確固とした信仰を持って歩みましょう。
