さて、わたしはこれらのことを知ってながら、どうして自分の召された務めを果たすこと以上に多くのことを望んでよいだろうか。アルマ２９：６
Now, seeing that I know these things, why should I desire more than to perform the work to which I have been called? Alma 29:6
This is an interesting scripture. This is from Alma’s great talk where he wishes “O that I were an angel” (Alma 29:1). He has just finished telling about the missionary work done by the sons of Mosiah among the Lamanites.
これは興味深い聖句です。アルマが「おお、私が天使であって、、、」と望んだすばらしい話の一部です（アルマ29:1）。彼はモーサヤの息子たちがレーマン人の中で伝道を終えたことについて丁度話し終えたところでした。
Alma’s greatest wish was to be able to teach everyone about the gospel. He wishes he was an angel and could teach the whole world. He wants to teach “with the voice of thunder” and help everyone repent and come unto Christ.
アルマの大きな望みはすべての人に福音を教えれるようになることでした。彼は自分が天使になって世界中に教えを伝えたいと望みました。彼は「地を震わせる声で」教え、すべての人が悔い改め、キリストのもとに来る手助けをしたいと思いました。
But he realizes that this wish is not right. He understands that the Lord has given him an assignment. He understands that he should do his best in the assignment he has been given.
しかし彼はその望みは正しくないと知っていました。彼は主が任務を与えられたことを理解しており、与えられた任務に最善を尽くすべきだとわかっていました。
In this scripture, Alma teaches us a great lesson.
この聖句でアルマはすばらしいレッスンを教えています。
If the Lord wanted to, he could accomplish all his work without us. He has all power and all authority. He doesn’t need us. But he knows that we need these experiences to learn and to grow. So because he loves us so much, he provides opportunities for us to serve.
主が望まれるなら、主は私たち無しでもすべての業を成し遂げることが出来るのです。主はすべての力と権威をお持ちなので、私たちがいなくてもよいのです。しかし主は私たちには学び成長するための経験が必要なことをご存知なのです。主は私たちをそれほど愛しておられるので私たちに奉仕する機会をくださるのです。
We have all received callings in the Church. Sometimes, those callings seem very big and important. Sometimes, those callings seem very small and unimportant.
私たちは皆、教会で召しを受けています。時々それらの召しはとても大きく重要に見えます。またそれらは時々とても小さく重要ではないようにも見えます。
But there are no unimportant callings in the Church. No calling is more important than any other calling. Every calling is given to us from the Lord. He gives us an opportunity to serve.
しかし教会には重要でない召しなど何一つ無いのです。召しには他の召しよりもっと重要な召しなど無いのです。すべての召しは主より与えられるのです。主は私たちに奉仕する機会をくださいます。
Is the Relief Society President more important than a Primary teacher? Is the Bishop more important than a home teacher? Is the Young Women’s President more important than the Primary chorister? No.
扶助教会の会長はプライマリーの教師より偉いですか？ビショップはホームティーチャーより偉いですか？若い女性の会長はプライマリーの指揮者より偉いですか？いいえ！
What is the most important calling in the Church?
教会で最も重要な召しは何でしょう？
The most important calling in the Church is the calling that we currently have. In the eyes of the Lord, every calling is just as important as any other calling. He has given us a calling. That is the most important calling for us right now.
最も重要な召しは自分が今現在召されている召しです。主の目にはどの召しもほかの召しと同じように重要なのです。「主が」私たちに召しをくださいます。それが今現在私たちにとって最も大切な召しなのです。
The Lord is not going to judge us based upon the callings that we have held. Will someone be denied entrance into the Celestial Kingdom because they have never been a bishop or a relief society president? Of course not.
主は私たちがどんな召しについたかで裁かれることはないのです。誰かがビショップや扶助教会の会長に召されなかったという理由で日の栄えの王国に入ることを拒まれるでしょうか？もちろんそんなことはありません。
The Lord will only judge us on how well we did in the callings that we were given.
主は私たちが与えられた召しをどのくらい一生懸命に果たしたかということのみで裁かれるのです。
Every calling is important. Every calling gives us an opportunity to help strengthen someone’s faith. Every calling gives us an opportunity to show the Lord that we love him and want to serve his children.
すべての召しは大切です。すべての召しが他の誰かの信仰を強めてあげる機会を私たちに与えてくれます。すべての召しが、私たちが主を愛し主の子供たちに仕えたいという気持ちを主に示す機会を与えてくれます。
Let’s work hard this week to do our very best in whatever calling we currently have. Let’s work hard to find ways to help strengthen those whom we have been called to serve. Let’s work hard to find out what the Lord wants us to do in our calling.
今週も私たちが受けているどんな召しにも最善を尽くせるよう頑張りましょう。私たちが仕えるよう召された人々を強めてあげる方法を頑張って見つけましょう。主が私たちの召しを通して何をされようとしているか頑張って見つけましょう。
I know that we all have many opportunities to serve. I know that some of those callings are difficult. But I know that each calling comes from the Lord and gives us an opportunity to show our love to Heavenly Father. As we serve his children, we will receive the guidance we need to be successful in our callings.
私たちには全員、奉仕する多くの機会があることを知っています。そのいくつかの召しは難しいと知っています。しかし各々の召しは主から来ており、（それを通して）私たちの天父への愛を示す機会を与えてくれることを知っています。神の子供たちに仕えるとき、私たちは自分の勤めを成功させるために必要な導きを受けるのです。
