あらゆる思いの中でわたしを仰ぎ見なさい。疑ってはならない。恐れてはならない。教義と聖約 ６：３６
Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not. Doctrine & Covenants 6:36
This scripture was given by the Lord to Oliver Cowdery as he began his service as a scribe for the Prophet Joseph Smith. Oliver was given many words of advice to help him in his calling.
この聖句はオリバー・カウドリーがジョセフ・スミスの筆記者として奉仕をはじめた頃、主から受けたものです。オリバーは彼の召しの助けとなる多くの助言を受けました。
These same words apply to us as well.
それらの助言は私たちにも同様に当てはまります。
In this short scripture, the Lord tells Oliver to do three things.
この短い聖句には主がオリバーに三つの事を行なうよう教えられました。
First, Oliver is told to look unto the Lord in every thought.
まず、オリバーにすべての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見るように教えられました。
That is a powerful statement.
それは力強い教えであります。
Do we look unto the Lord in every thought?
私たちはすべての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見ていますか？
We make that promise each week as we partake of the sacrament. We promise to “always remember him”. Do we keep that promise?
私たちは毎週聖餐をとるという約束を交わしました。私たちは「常に主を覚える」と約束しました。その約束を守っていますか？
As we look to the Lord in every thought, we will be able to do the things that the Lord wants us to do. We will be guided and blessed in our callings. We will be guided and blessed in our daily lives. We will be guided and blessed as we struggle with our own trials and burdens.
すべての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見ることで、私たちは主のみ旨を行うことが出来るのです。召しにおいても導かれ祝福されるのです。日々の生活においても導かれ祝福されるのです。私たち自身が抱える試練や重荷で苦しむ時にも導かれ祝福されるのです。
As we look to the Lord in every thought, we will be able to see spiritual things more clearly. We will be able to hear the promptings of the Holy Ghost more clearly. We will be able to receive inspiration and revelation for our own lives.
すべての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見ることで、私たちは霊的な事がらがよりはっきりと見えるようになります。聖霊のささやきがよりはっきりと聞こえるようになります。私たちの生活に必要な霊感や啓示を受けることでしょう。
As we look to the Lord in every thought, we will become more humble. We will become more teachable. We will become better followers of Jesus Christ.
すべての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見ることで、私たちはより謙遜になります。より謙虚で素直になります。イエス・キリストのよりよい従者になります。
Second, Oliver was told to “doubt not”.
２番目にオリバー・カウドリーは「疑ってはならない」と教えられました。
Just like Oliver, we must accept many things by faith. We do not have angels appear to us. We do not have great visions, like Moses or Abraham. We do not understand all things.
オリバーのように私たちも信仰を持って多くの事がらを受け入れなければなりません。私たちには天使が現れたり、モーセやアブラハムの受けたような示現は受けないでしょう。また私たちはすべての事を理解しているわけではありません。
We must rely on our faith and “doubt not”.
私たちは自分の信仰を頼り、「疑わない」ようにしなければなりません。
Finally, Oliver was told to “fear not”.
最後に、オリバーは「恐れるな」と教えられました。
The world is full of evil things. Satan wants to destroy the work of the Lord. He will try to frighten us so that we will give up our faith. Just like Oliver, we must resist Satan’s temptations and fear not.
この世は悪事に満ちています。サタンは主の業を破壊しようとしています。彼は私たちに恐怖を抱かせ信仰を捨てさせようとします。オリバーのように私たちもサタンの誘惑を退け、恐れることのないようにしなければなりません。
The Lord is in charge. In verse 34 of this section, the Lord tells us that as long as we are built upon the rock of the gospel, Satan “cannot prevail”. We have nothing to fear.
主が責任を負ってくださいます。この章の３４節では、私たちは福音という岩の上に建っている限り、サタンは「勝利を得る」ことはないと主は言われています。何も恐れることはないのです。
I know that these things are true. I know that we must look to the Lord in every thought if we are to find the right path. I know that we must look to the Lord and then follow the counsel that we receive through the Holy Ghost. I know that we must remember our sacrament covenants.
これらの事が真実だと私は知っています。私たちが正しい道を見つけれるようすべての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見る必要があることを知っています。私たちは主を仰ぎ見、聖霊を通して与えられる勧告に従う必要があることを知っています。私たちは聖餐の誓約を覚えていなければなりません。
As we do these things, as we “doubt not” and “fear not”, we will have greater faith. We will be happier. We will be blessed.
それを行ない、「疑わず」「恐れる」ことがなければ私たちはより強い信仰を持つことが出来ます。より幸せになり、祝福を受けます。
Let’s go forward this week and look to the Lord in every thought. Let’s stand firmly for the truth and doubt not and fear not!
今週、あらゆる思いの中で主を仰ぎ見て前進しましょう。真実のためにしっかりと立ち、疑わず恐れることのないようにしましょう。
