And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father –That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters of God. Doctrine & Covenants 76:22-24
As we come to the final week of the year 2021, it is a good time to pause and to reflect on the events of the past year. In particular, it is a good time to review how we did this year as followers of Jesus Christ.
2021年最後の週となりました。ここで一度立ち止まり、この一年の出来事を振り返ってみるのに良い機会ではないでしょうか。特にイエス・キリストの従者としてどのように行動したか振り返ってみる良い機会です。
None of us are perfect, of course. We all make mistakes and commit sins. But that does not mean that the Lord does not love us. He knows our own individual circumstances better than we do. He loves us and wants us to be happy. He knows that for us to be happy, we need to keep the commandments.
もちろん、私たちは誰も完璧ではありません。私たちは誰でも間違いや罪を犯します。しかし、だからと言って主が私たちを愛しておられないということではありません。主は、私たちよりも私たち自身の状況をよくご存知です。主は私たちを愛しておられ、私たちが幸せになることを望んでおられます。主は、私たちが幸せになるために、戒めを守る必要があることをご存知です。
The question is not “are we perfect yet?” The question is “are we doing our best to improve?” Are we doing better, even in very small things? Are we a better follower of Jesus Christ now than we were at the beginning of the year?
自問するのは「私たちはすでに完璧になったのか？」ではなく、「改善するために最善を尽くしているのか？」ということです。小さくて些細なことにも進歩が見られますか？現在の自分は、年が始まったころに比べ、イエス・キリストのより良い従者となっていますか？
Are we walking in the covenant path? Do we need to make some course corrections to get back to the straight and narrow path? Are there things in our lives that we need to eliminate, things that push us off course, things that take time away from more important things?
私たちは聖約の道を歩いていますか？まっすぐで狭い道に戻るために軌道修正が必要ですか？生活の中で、私たちが排除する必要のあるものや道から外そうとするもの、より重要なものから時間を奪うものがありますか？
Are we doing the small and simple things that will strengthen our testimony of Jesus Christ and his gospel? Do you say your prayers each day? Do you study the Book of Mormon each day? Do you attend all of your Church meetings? Do you serve in your calling? Do you study the talks from General Conference?
イエス・キリストと福音について証を強めるために、小さくて簡単なことをしているでしょうか。毎日祈っていますか？毎日モルモン書を勉強していますか？教会のすべての集会に出席していますか？あなたの召しを果たしていますか？総大会のお話しを学んでいますか？
These are all small and simple things, but they have great power to keep us on the covenant path. They will help us to have stronger testimonies. They will help us to be better followers of our Savior.
これらはすべて小さくて簡単なことですが、私たちを聖約の道にとどめる大きな力を持っています。それらは私たちがより強い証を持ち、私たちが救い主のより良い従者になるのを助けます。
As we evaluate our performance of the past year, we may find things that we need to correct. We may find things that we need to start doing. We may find things that we need to stop doing.
この一年の行いを評価すると、修正が必要なことが見つかるかもしれません。新たに始める必要のあることが見つかるかもしれません。やめなければならないことが見つかるかもしれません。
As we recognize those things, let us be diligent in our efforts to improve. We have a brand-new year now. Let’s resolve to be better and to do better.
それらに気が付くならば、改善するよう熱心に取り組みましょう。まもなく新年を迎えます。行いを改善し、より良くなれるよう決意しましょう。
Most importantly, let’s resolve to do everything that we can do to strengthen our testimonies of the Savior. Let’s resolve to walk in the covenant path always. Let’s resolve to do all the small and simple things that will lead us to Jesus Christ. Let’s resolve to become a true follower of Jesus Christ in everything that we do, in everything that we say, and in everything that we think.
最も重要なことは、救い主への証を強めるためにできることはすべてやろうと決意することです。常に聖約の道を歩むことを決意しましょう。イエス・キリストに導く、小さくて簡単なことをすべて行うことを決意しましょう。私たちが行うことすべて、私たちが言うことすべて、そして私たちが考えることすべてにおいて、イエス・キリストの真の従者となることを決意しましょう。
