しかし見よ、神から出るものはいつも善を行うように誘い、促す。したがって、善を行い、神を愛し、神に仕えるように誘い、促すものはすべて、神の霊感を受けているのである。モロナイ７：１３

But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, everything which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God.  Moroni 7:13

In this world, there are many voices competing for our attention.  Some of those voices are good, and some of those voices are bad.  It is very important that we choose the right voices to listen to.

この世には、私たちの注意を引く多くの声が存在します。それは良い声もあれば、悪い声もあります。適切な声を選んでそれを聞くことは非常に重要です。

We have to make decisions every day, many times every day, about what we should do.  Our goal, as followers of Jesus Christ, is to make good decisions and to do good things.

私たちは一日のうちに何度も、何をすべきか決定を下さなければなりません。イエス・キリストの従者として私たちの目標は、良い決定を下し、善を行うことです。

Moroni teaches us an important principle that will help us make good decisions.  As we hear the various voices, from prophets and apostles, from Church leaders, from friends, from social media, we have a responsibility to follow the counsel of Moroni.  

モロナイは良い決定をするのに役立つ重要な原則を私たちに教えています。預言者や使徒、教会の指導者、友人、ソーシャルメディアからさまざまな声を聞くとき、私たちはモロナイの勧告に従うよう勧められています。

We have the responsibility to evaluate each of the voices.  We have the responsibility to analyze what those voices say to us.  We have the responsibility to test those voices as we have been taught by Moroni.

私たちはそれぞれの声を吟味する責任を持っています。それらの声が私たちに何を語りかけているかを分析する責任があります。モロナイから教えられたように、私たちはそれらの声を吟味する責任があります。

“Does the thing that this voice suggests “invite and entice” us to do good?  Does the thing this voice suggests “invite and entice” us to draw closer to the Lord?  Does the thing that this voice suggests “invite and entice” us to be better followers of Jesus Christ?

この声は、私たちに善を行うように「誘い、促す」ことを示唆しているでしょうか？この声は、私たちを主に近づけるように「誘い、促す」ことを示唆しているでしょうか？この声は、私たちをイエス・キリストのより良い従者になるように「誘い、促す」ことを示唆しているでしょうか？

If the answer to this question is “Yes”, then we know that what this voice suggests is something good.  If the answer is “No”, then we know that what this voice suggests is something bad.  If the answer is “I’m not sure…”, then we need to study and ponder and pray about it more.

答えが「はい」ならば、この声が示唆していることは良いことだとわかります。答えが「いいえ」ならば、この声が示唆していることは悪いことだとわかります。答えが「わからない…」ならば、私たちはそれについてもっと学び、熟考し、祈る必要があります。

Some things are easily identified as “Yes” answers.  Some things are easily identified as “No” answers.  It is those voices that sound maybe okay, but maybe not okay that are the challenging ones.  

「はい」の答えとして簡単に識別できるものもあります。「いいえ」の答えとして簡単に識別できるものもあります。また良さそうに聞こえる声もありますが、挑戦的な声の場合はおそらく良いものではないかもしれません。

Some voices may suggest things that seem good when we first hear them.  But as we ponder and pray, we may begin to understand that this voice is not a good one to listen to.

初めて聞いたときに良さそうなことを示唆している声もあります。しかし、私たちが熟考して祈るとき、この声が聞くのに値しないことを理解し始めるかもしれません。

Maybe the voice suggests that we help a neighbor instead of attending Sacrament meeting on Sunday.  Well, we are taught to love our neighbors and to serve others.  Is this not a good thing?  

例えば、その声は日曜日の聖餐会に出席する代わりに、隣人を助けることを示唆しているかもしれません。私たちは隣人を愛し、他の人に仕えるように教えられています。これは良いことではありませんか？

It may be a good thing.  Perhaps there is an emergency that cannot wait.  

はい、良いことかもしれません。すぐに助けが必要な緊急事態があるのかもしれません。

Or, it may not be a good thing.  Maybe we can provide the same service to our neighbor on Saturday.  Maybe we are just using this as an excuse not to attend our meetings. 

または、良くないことかもしれません。土曜日に隣人に同じ援助をすることができるかもしれません。それともその行為を集会に出席しない口実として使っているのかもしれません。

As we listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost, and as we follow the direction that we are given, we will learn to make good choices.  We will learn to discern good voices from not good voices.  We will learn which things “invite and entice” us to love God and to serve him.

聖霊の促しに耳を傾け、与えられた指示に従うことで、私たちは良い選択をすることを学びます。良い声と悪い声を識別する方法を学びます。神を愛し、神に仕えるために、私たちを「誘い、促す」ものが何であるか理解できるようになります。

As we go through this next week, let’s think about the voices that we listen to.  Let’s think about what those voices are saying.  Let’s apply Moroni’s test to the voices and then listen for the guidance of the Holy Ghost.  Let’s learn to identify those voices which are of God.
