シオンの娘よ、大いに喜べ、エルサレムの娘よ、呼ばわれ。見よ、あなたの王はあなたの所に来る。彼は義なる者であって勝利を得、柔和であって、ろばに乗る。すなわち、ろばの子である子馬に乗る。ゼカリヤ９：９

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, the King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.  Zechariah 9:9

As we come to the end of the Old Testament record, we again find the prophets teaching the people about two very important topics.  

旧約聖書は終わろうとしています。預言者たちはとても重要なふたつのトピックについて教えていることがわかってきました。

The prophet Haggai teaches the people that the Lord has once again commanded them to build a house to the Lord.  Although his writings are very short, his message is clear.  The people have been greatly blessed, but have neglected their duty to build a house to the Lord.  The Lord chastises the people and says: “Consider your ways”.  

預言者ハガイは人々に、再び主のために家を建てるように主が命じられたと教えています。彼の文書は非常に短いものの、メッセージは明瞭です。人々は大いに祝福されてきましたが、主のために家を建てるという義務を怠ってきました。主は人々を懲らしめ、「自分のなすべきことをよく考えるがよい」と言われています。

That is very good counsel for us today.  “Consider your ways”.  As we come to the end of another year, it is time for each of us to “Consider your ways”.  We will shortly begin a brand new year, a year that can be the best year ever, if we will “Consider our ways”.

これは今日のわたしたちにとって非常に良い勧告です。「自分のなすべきことをよく考えるがよい」。今年も終わりが近づいて来ました。私たちは「自分のなすべきことをよく考える」時が来ています。「自分のなすべきことをよく考える」ことができれば、新しく始まる年が、これまでで最高の年にできるに違いありません。

The prophet Zechariah is another of the Old Testament prophets who taught very plainly about the coming of the Savior.  

預言者ゼカリヤは、救い主の来臨について非常にわかりやすく教えた旧約聖書の預言者のひとりです。

In this scripture, Zechariah prophecies about an event in the life of the Savior.  He says that the Lord will come to Jerusalem, “riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass”.

この聖句でゼカリヤは、救い主の現世での出来事をいくつか預言しています。彼は、主が「ろばの子である子馬に乗って」エルサレムに来られると述べています。

In both the Gospel of Mark (chapter 11) and in the Gospel of Luke (chapter 19), this very event is recorded.  The Savior returns to Jerusalem as his mortal ministry comes to a close.  He tells his disciples to go to a certain place, where they will find a young donkey.  They are to untie the donkey and bring it back with them.

マルコの福音書（11章）とルカの福音書（19章）の両方に、この出来事が記録されています。現世での務めが終わると、救い主はエルサレムに戻られます。主は弟子たちに、若いろばを見つけるため、ある場所に行くように言われました。彼らはろばをほどいて、連れて戻ってくるよう期待されていました。

The disciples brought the donkey back and put their cloaks on it.  Jesus sat on the young donkey and rode it into Jerusalem.  All the people welcomed the Savior and spread their clothes and tree branches down on the road.  The people cried out: “Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord” (Mark 11:9).

弟子たちはろばを連れ戻り、上着を着せました。イエスは若いろばに乗ってエルサレムに行きました。人々は皆、救い主を歓迎し、服や木の枝を道に敷きました。人々は叫びました。「主の御名によってきたる者に、祝福あれ」（マルコによる福音書 11:9）

The prophet Zechariah provides us with one more testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ.  He reminds us that the gospel is not something new that started with the birth of the Savior, but is eternal and unchanging.  Zechariah teaches us that the ancient prophets understood the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, just as we do today.  It is a great strength to our own testimony to understand that these things were known and taught anciently.

預言者ゼカリヤは、救い主イエス・キリストについてのもう一つの証を残しています。彼は、福音は救い主の誕生とともに始まった新しいものではなく、永遠で不変であることを思い起こさせています。古代の預言者たちが、今日の私たちと同じように救いの計画とイエス・キリストの福音を理解していたことをゼカリヤは教えています。これらのことが古代から知られ、教えられてきたと理解することは、私たちの証にとっても大きな力となります。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember that the Lord knows “the beginning from the end”.  Let’s remember that the Lord’s prophets, whether ancient or modern, teach the same principles and have the same testimony of Jesus Christ.  Let’s remember that the doctrines and the principles of the gospel do not change.  Let’s remember that it was through their own disobedience that ancient Israel lost so many blessings.  Let’s remember to “Consider our ways” and become worthy of the blessings that the Lord wants to send to us.

新しい週が始まります。主は「始まりから終わりまで」をご存知であることを覚えて過ごしましょう。古代であろうと現代であろうと，主の預言者は同じ原則を教え，イエス・キリストについて同じ証を持っていることを覚えていましょう。福音の奥義と原則は変わらないことを忘れないでください。古代イスラエルが多くの祝福を失ったのは、彼ら自身の不従順によるものだったことを忘れないでください。「自分のなすべきことをよく考える」ことを忘れず、主が私たちに送ろうとしておられる祝福にふさわしくありましょう。
