さて、あなたは求めたので、見よ、わたしはあなたに言う。わたしの戒めを守り、シオンの大儀を起こして確立するように努めなさい。富を求めずに、知恵を求めなさい。そうすれば、見よ、神の奥義はあなたに明らかにされ、そのとき、あなたは豊かにされる。見よ、永遠の命を持つ者は豊かである。教義と聖約６：６－７
Now, as you have asked, behold, I say unto you, keep my commandments, and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion; seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall ye be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich. Doctrine & Covenants 6:6-7
This revelation was given through the Prophet Joseph Smith to Oliver Cowdery, when Oliver started his work helping with the translation of the Book of Mormon. However, the instructions given here are not just for Oliver, but for all of the members of the Church.
この啓示はオリバー・カウドリーがモルモン書の翻訳作業を始めたとき預言者ジョセフ・スミスを通じてオリバーに与えられたものです。しかし、ここで与えられた教えは単にオリバーにだけではなく教会のすべての会員のためのものでもあります。
In this scripture, we are given three assignments. We are told that if we are faithful in those assignments, the Lord will give us two great blessings.
この聖句では私たちに三つのなすべき務めが与えられています。もしこれらの務めに忠実ならば主は二つの祝福をくださると言われました。
Our first assignment is to keep the commandments.
最初の務めは戒めを守ることです。
This is the most basic teaching of the gospel. If we love the Lord, we are commanded to keep his commandments. It is only by keeping the commandments that we are able to receive blessings.
これは最も基本的な福音の教えです。私たちはもし主を愛するならば主の戒めを守りなさいと戒められました。私たちは戒めを守ることによってのみ祝福を受けられるのです。
Our second assignment is to serve.
二つ目の務めは奉仕することです。
We are instructed to “seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion”. It does not say that we have to become a General Authority. It does not say we need to become a Bishop. It does not say that we need to hold any specific calling. It says we need to work hard and do our best to help the Church move forward.
私たちは「シオンの大儀を起こして確立するように努めなさい」と指導されました。教会幹部になるようにとは言っていませんし、ビショップになるようにとも言っていません。何か特別の召しを受けるようにとも言っていません。ただ教会が前進するために最善を尽くして働く必要があると言っています。
Our third assignment is to not worry about making a lot of money.
三つ目の務めは大金を得ることに心を悩ませ心配ばかりしていてはいけないということです。
This assignment is very different than what the world teaches us. The world teaches us that the best thing is to be rich. The world teaches us that having lots of money is our goal. The world teaches us that rich people are more important.
この務めは世の中で教えるものと非常に異なっています。世の中では（幸せになるため）最善のことは金持ちになることだと教えています。世の中では大金を持つことが目標だと教えています。世の中では裕福な人がより（社会的に）有力者だと教えています。
The Lord teaches us that money is not as important as blessings. When we die, we leave behind all the worldly things. We can only take with us our blessings. We need to spend our time working for eternal things, not for worldly things.
主はお金は祝福ほど重要ではないと教えておられます。私たちは死ぬとこの世的なすべてのものを後に残していきます。私たちは受けた祝福しか持っていけません。私たちはこの世的なもののためでなく永遠のために時間を費やすべきです。
If we do our best to follow these three assignments, we are promised two great blessings.
もしこれらの三つの務めに最善を尽くして従うならば私たちは二つの偉大な祝福が約束されています。
The first blessing is we will be taught about all the principles of the gospel. We will be able to understand the importance of receiving the priesthood ordinances of baptism, the temple endowment, and sealings. We will be able to receive all the priesthood ordinances that we need in this life.
最初の祝福は福音のすべての原則が教えられるということです。私たちはバプテスマや神殿のエンダウメント、結び固めなど神権の儀式の大切さを理解でき、この世で必要なすべての神権の儀式を受けれるのです。
If we receive all those ordinances in this life, we are promised that we will be rich.
これらすべての儀式をこの世で受ければ私たちは豊かになると約束されています。
We may not be rich in the eyes of the world. We may not have a fancy car, or a big house, or lots of shoes. We may not be a famous celebrity.
世の視点でみる富とは異なるかもしれません。素敵な車や大きな家、沢山の靴は持たないかもしれません。（マスコミで騒がれるような）有名人にはならないかもしれません。
We will be rich in eternal things. We will have eternal life with our families. We will have eternal life with our Savior Jesus Christ and with our Heavenly Father. That is the great blessing that awaits us, if we are faithful.
私たちは永遠の事柄をもって豊かになります。家族と共に永遠の命を受けます。私たちの救い主イエス・キリストと天父と共に永遠の命を受けます。これが忠実であるとき私たちを待っている偉大な祝福なのです。
I know that these things are true. I know that we can all obtain these great riches. The rules are the same for each of us. We just need to do our best, keep the commandments, serve in the Church, and focus on eternal blessings. We can do it!
私はこれらのことが真実だと知っています。私たちは全員これらの偉大な富を得られると知っています。そのルールは私たち皆に共通のものです。私たちはただ最善を尽くし、戒めを守り、教会で奉仕し、永遠の祝福に思いを集中させればよいのです。
