All victory and glory is brought to pass unto you through your diligence, faithfulness, and prayers of faith. Doctrine & Covenants 103:36
At the time when this revelation was received, the Saints were suffering great persecution in Missouri. The Prophet prayed for guidance about what to do to help them. He received this revelation from the Lord in answer to his prayer.
この啓示を受けたころ、聖徒はミズーリで酷い迫害に苦しんでいました。預言者は彼らを救うために何が出来るか指示を求めて祈りました。祈りの答えとして主からこの啓示を受けたのです。
In verse 4 of Section 103, the Lord tells the Prophet that the Saints were suffering because “they did not harken altogether unto the precepts and commandments which I gave unto them”.
103 章の4 節で、主は「わたしの与えた訓戒と戒めに完全には聞き従がわなかったので」聖徒は苦しみを受けていると預言者に言われました。
Are we sometimes like those early Saints in Missouri? Just like those Saints in Missouri, we have all been taught the commandments. We want happiness. We want peace. We want good things to happen to us and to our families.
私たちもミズーリの初期の聖徒のようなことはありませんか？ミズーリの聖徒のように、私たちは戒めを教えられています。私たちは幸福や平安を求めています。自分や家族にとってよいことが起こるよう願っています。
But do we fail to “harken altogether unto the precepts and commandments” which we have been given?
しかし私たちは既に与えられている「訓戒と戒めに完全には聞き従がわ」ないことがありませんか？
We are taught three principles in this scripture. We are taught that we must be diligent. To be diligent means to work hard, to do everything that is needed, to complete all of our assignments.
この聖句で私たちは三つの原則を教わっています。私たちは熱心でなければならないと教わっています。熱心とは一生懸命働き、必要なことはすべて行い、与えられた責任や召しを完全に遂行することです。
We are taught that we must be faithful. To be faithful means to go forward even though we cannot see the end of the road. It means to have faith that the Lord will guide us. It means to not doubt.
私たちは忠実であるよう教わっています。忠実であるとは道の先が見えなくても前進する事です。主が導いてくださると言う信仰を持つことです。そして疑わないことです。
We are taught that, after we do those things, we must pray with faith. We must first do all that we can do. Then we must pray with faith and ask for the blessings and guidance we need.
私たちは、それらの事を行った後、信仰を持って祈らねばならないと教わっています。私たちはまず出来ることを全て行い、続いて信仰を持って祈り、必要な祝福と導きをお願いしなければなりません。
Finally, having been diligent, having been faithful, and having prayed with faith, we must keep on doing all those things. This is not a “one time only” task. It is the pattern for our entire life.
最後に熱心であり、忠実であり、信仰を持って祈ることをしても、それらを行い続けねばなりません。一度限りの作業ではないのです。一生続けて行うことなのです。
As we do these things, the blessings we seek will come. It may not be immediately. It may not even be soon. But the promised blessings will come. Waiting patiently for the blessings is part of being diligent and having faithfulness.
これらの事を行なうとき私たちの求める祝福がやってきます。それは即やって来ないかもしれません。そんなに近いうちに来ないかもしれません。しかし約束された祝福は必ずやって来ます。祝福を忍耐強く待つことは熱心で忠実であることの一部なのです。
I know that these things are true. I know that we have a duty, just like the early Saints in Missouri, to be diligent, to be faithful, and to pray with faith. I know that the Lord will give us the blessings that we need as we follow his teachings.
これらの事が真実だと私は知っています。私たちには初期のミズーリの聖徒のように熱心であり、忠実で、信仰を持って祈る義務があることを知っています。
Let’s try harder this week to be diligent in all that we do in the Lord’s kingdom. Let’s try harder to serve others, to help others, to encourage others. Let’s have greater faith in the Lord. Let’s pray with greater faith. If we do these things, we will always receive the blessings that we need.
今週、主の王国で私たちがすべきすべてのことに熱心でいましょう。他の人に仕え、助け、励ますよう努めましょう。主により強い信仰を持ちましょう。より強い信仰を持って祈りましょう。これらの事を行なうなら私たちに必要な祝福をいつも享受できるのです。
