さて、わたしの愛する同胞よ、わたしはあなたがたがまだ心の中で深く考えているのを承知している。そして、このことについてあなたがたに述べなければならないのは、わたしにとって悲しいことである。あなたがたは、祈るように人に教えてくださる御霊に耳を傾けるならば、祈らなければならないことが分かるであろう。悪霊は祈るようにとは人に教えず、かえって祈ってはならないと人に教える。ニーファイ第二書３２：８

And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing.  For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.  2 Nephi 32:8

In this scripture, Nephi reminds us of the importance of prayer.  He tells us that we should pray always.  

この聖句ではニーファイが祈りの大切さを私達に思い起こさせています。彼は常に祈るべきだと言っています。

We all know that.  We know that we need to pray always.  We know that if we pray, we will be blessed and helped.

私たちは皆そのことを知っています。私たちは常に祈る必要を知っています。祈るならば私たちは祝福され助けられると知っています。

So why do we not pray sometimes?

それなのにどうして私たちは時折祈らないのでしょうか？

Nephi gives us the answer.

ニーファイはその答えを教えています。

Nephi tells us that it is the evil spirit that teaches us not to pray.  Even Satan knows how important pray is.  Even Satan knows that if we pray, we will be blessed.  He does not want us to pray.

ニーファイは悪霊が祈らないようにと教えるからだと言っています。サタンでさえ祈りがどれほど大切か知っているのです。サタンでさえもし祈れば祝福されると知っているのです。（だから）彼は私たちに祈って欲しくないのです。

So Satan tries to trick us.  He tries to tell us that we are too wicked to pray.  He tells us that we will not be blessed by our prayers.  He tells us that we don’t need to pray right now.

そうです、サタンは私たちを騙そうとします。彼は私たちが祈るには邪悪過ぎると吹き込みます。彼は祈りでは祝福を受けれないと教えます。彼は今は祈らなくてもよいと教えます。

These are all tricks of Satan.  He does not want us to receive blessings.  He does not want us to be blessed.  He wants us to doubt.

これらはすべてサタンの策略なのです。彼は私たちに祝福を受けて欲しくないのです。彼は私たちが祝福されて欲しくないのです。彼は私たちに疑いの気持ちを持って欲しいのです。

But Nephi explains this to us in this scripture.  He teaches us that we must pray.  

しかしニーファイはこの聖句で私たちは祈らねばならないと教え、説明しています。

President Brigham Young taught us the same principles.  He said: “It matters not whether you feel like praying.  When the time comes to pray, pray.”  

ブリガムヤング大管長は私たちに同じ原則を教えられました、「祈りたいとか祈りたくないとかはどうでもよいのです。ただ祈る時間がきたら祈りなさい」と。

President Young also said: “If the Devil says you cannot pray when you are angry, tell him it is none of his business, and pray anyway.”

ヤング大管長はまた「もし悪魔があなたが怒っているときは祈ってはいけないと言うならば、あなたの知ったことではないと言い、とにかく祈りなさい」と言われました。

It is great blessing to be able to pray.  I know that Heavenly Father hears each of our prayers.  I know that each of our prayers are answered.  They are not always answered quickly, or in the way we expect, but they are always answered.  I know that if we pray, we will receive the guidance and blessings that we need.

祈れるということはすばらしい祝福です。天の御父が私たち一人ひとりの祈りをお聞きになると知っています。私たち一人ひとりの祈りが答えられると知っています。祈りはすぐに私たちの望むかたちで答えられるとは限りません。しかし祈りは必ず答えられます。もし祈れば私たちに必要な導きと祝福を受けることを知っています。

May we all make an effort this week to pray always.  Every morning, every evening, at every meal, and any other time we need help.  If we do this, we will receive the blessings that we need.  I know that this is true.

今週も常に祈るよう努力できますように。毎朝、毎晩、食事の度に、また助けが必要なときに。そうすれば私たちが必要な祝福を受けると知っています。それが真実だと知っています。
