Have mercy upon me, O God; according to thy loving kindness: according to the multitude of they tender mercies blot out my transgressions.  Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.  Psalms 51:1-2

As we continue our study of the book of Psalms, we are reminded of the sad story of David.  He was given great blessings because of his righteousness.  He was anointed to be king of all Israel.  He united all the tribes and made Jerusalem the capital city for Israel.  He even wanted to build a Temple in Jerusalem.

詩篇の書を学んでいくと、ダビデの哀しい物語を知ることになります。彼は義の故に大きな祝福を受けました。彼は全イスラエルの王になるように油を注がれました。すべての部族を集め、エルサレムをイスラエルの首都としました。彼はエルサレムに神殿を建てたいとさえ思っていました。

But sadly, he lost all those blessings because he gave in to temptation.  He allowed himself to commit very serious sins.  He tried to cover up his sins.  He thought that no one would know about his sins. 

しかし悲しいことに、彼は誘惑に負けたのですべての祝福を失いました。彼は非常に深刻な罪を犯してしまい、自分の罪を隠そうとしました。 誰も自分の罪を知らないと思っていました。

The Lord sent his prophet, Nathan, to David.  Nathan told David that his sins were known to the Lord.  Because of his sins, David lost everything.

主は預言者ナタンをダビデのもとに遣わされました。ナタンはダビデの罪は主に知られていると言いました。ダビデは自分の罪のためにすべてを失いました。

Many of the Psalms that are contained in the Old Testament express David’s great sorrow for his transgressions.  In many of the Psalms, David pleads with the Lord to forgive him.  

旧約聖書にある詩篇の多くは、ダビデの罪に対する大きな悲しみを表しています。詩篇の多くの箇所で、ダビデは主に赦しを懇願しています。

While none of us will be guilty of such terrible sins as David was, we all still need to repent.  We all still commit sins.  We all still need to be washed clean from our own sins.

ダビデのようなひどい罪を犯す人は誰もいませんが、それでも私たちは皆悔い改める必要があります。私たちは今でも罪を犯します。私たちは今でも自分の罪から洗い清められる必要があります。

This great blessing is available to all who truly repent.  Through the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven of our sins. 

この大きな祝福は、心から悔い改めたすべての人に与えられます。救い主イエス・キリストの贖いを通して、私たちの罪が赦されます。

When we were baptized, we were washed clean from all of our sins.  We first had faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.  We repented of our sins and became worthy to be baptized.

バプテスマを受けたとき、私たちはすべての罪から洗い清められました。私たちは最初に救い主イエス・キリストを信じました。私たちは自分の罪を悔い改め、バプテスマを受けるにふさわしくなりました。

Sadly, we still continue to commit sins.  President Nelson has taught us that we should find joy in daily repentance.  We can repent.  We can become clean.

悲しいことに、私たちはまだ罪を犯し続けています。ネルソン大管長は、毎日の悔い改めに喜びを見いだすべきだと教えてくれました。私たちは悔い改めることができ、清くなれます。

Each Sunday, as we worthily partake of the sacrament, we renew those covenants that we made with the Lord when we were baptized.  We can receive forgiveness of our sins as we participate in that sacred ordinance.

毎週日曜日、私たちは聖餐を受けるにふさわしく、バプテスマを受けたときに主と交わした聖約を更新します。その神聖な儀式に参加するとき、私たちは罪の赦しを受けることができます。

We, like David, can plead with the Lord to have mercy on us.  We, like David, can ask to be washed clean.  We, like David, can ask to be cleansed from sin.

ダビデのように、私たちを憐れんでくださるよう主に懇願することができます。ダビデのように、私たちは洗い清められるように懇願することができます。ダビデのように、私たちは罪から清められるように懇願することができます。

These great blessings come only through our faith in Jesus Christ.  It is because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ that we have the opportunity to repent.  

これらの大きな祝福は、イエス・キリストへの信仰によってのみもたらされます。私たちが悔い改める機会があるのは、イエス・キリストの贖罪のおかげです。

The Atonement makes all this possible.  It brings hope to our lives.  It brings peace to our souls.  It brings forgiveness for our sins.

贖罪はこれらすべてを可能にします。それは私たちの生活に希望をもたらします。それは私たちの魂に平安をもたらします。それは私たちに罪の赦しをもたらします。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the sad story of David.  Let’s remember to turn away from sin.  Let’s do our best to always stay on the covenant path.  Let’s follow the counsel of President Nelson and learn to find joy in daily repentance.  Let’s go forward with faith that we can become cleansed from our sins.

新しい週が始まります。ダビデの哀しい物語を覚えて過ごしましょう。罪から遠ざかりましょう。常に聖約の道にとどまるように最善を尽くしましょう。ネルソン大管長の勧告に従い、毎日の悔い改めに喜びを見いだすことを学びましょう。私たちが罪から清められることができるという信仰を持って前進しましょう。
