これらのことは、御霊がわたしに示してくださった。そこで、わたしはあなたがた全員に書き伝える。わたしがあなたがたに書き伝えるのは、あなたがた全員が、まことにアダムの全人類家族に属するすべての人が、キリストの裁きの座の前に立たなければならないこと、あなたがたの行いが善いか悪いか、自分の行いについて裁かれるために立たなければならないことを、あなたがたに知らせるためであり、。。。モルモン３：２０

And these things doth the Spirit manifest unto me; therefore I write unto you all.  And for this cause I write unto you, that ye may know that ye must stand before the judgement seat of Christ, yea, every soul who belongs to the whole human family of Adam; and ye must stand to be judged of your works, whether they be good or evil…  Mormon 3:20

This interesting scripture, given to us by the ancient Nephite prophet Mormon, reminds us very clearly of one of the most basic gospel truths.  

この興味深い聖句は古代ニーファイ人の預言者モルモンが福音の基本的な真理を私たちに明確に教えるため書き残したものです。

It teaches an absolute truth, a truth that the world does NOT want to hear.  

その教えは完璧な真理ですが世の人々は聞きたくない教えでしょう。

The world wants to listen to the lies of Satan. The world wants to believe that there are no commandments.  The world wants to believe that there are no consequences to their actions.

残念ながら世の人はサタンの嘘を聞きたがります。戒めなど無いと、また自分の行いには結果が伴うことなどないと信じようとしています。

This is one of Satan’s most powerful tricks.   Satan knows that there are commandments. He knows that there are consequences to our decisions.  But he works very hard to convince everyone that there are no commandments or consequences.

これはサタンの強力な罠のひとつです。サタンは戒めがある事を知っています。彼は私たちの選択には結果が伴う事を知っています。しかし彼は戒めや結果が伴うことなど無いと信じ込ませようと熱心に働いています。

This is an idea that is very pleasing to the world.  If there are no commandments and no consequences, then anything that a person does is okay.  If there are no commandments and no consequences, then people can do anything that they want to do.  

これは世の人にはとても受け入れやすい考えです。もし戒めや結果が伴うことが無ければ、人が行うことは何でも良いことになります。もし戒めや結果が伴うことが無ければ、人はしたいことを何しても良いことになります。

But…

しかし、、、

There are commandments and there are consequences.  

戒めや結果が伴うことは確かにあるのです。

Everyone who is here on earth was a valiant spirit.  Everyone who is here on earth chose to follow the plan presented by Jesus Christ rather than the plan presented by Lucifer.  Everyone who is here on earth knew that there were commandments and that there were consequences.

この地上にいるすべての者は優れた霊でした。この地上にいるすべての者はルシフェルの提案した案よりイエス・キリストの提案した案に従うことを選んだのです。この地上にいるすべての者は戒めと選択や行いには結果が伴う事を知っていました。

We were all taught very clearly that this earth life would be a time of testing and trial.  We were taught that we would not be able to remember what our life was like before coming to this earth.  We were taught that we would be given agency and that we would be presented with choices and temptations.

私たちはこの地上での生活は試練や試しの時期であるとはっきり教わっています。私たちはこの地上に来る前ここでの生活がどのようなものであるか思い出すことは出来ないと教わっています。私たちは自由意思を与えられ選択肢や誘惑が存在するということを教わっています。

We were also taught that those who keep the commandments and follow our Savior Jesus Christ will receive great blessings.  Some of those blessings will be received here on earth and some of those blessings will be received in the next life.

私たちは戒めを守り、救い主イエス・キリストに従う者は大きな祝福を受けると教わっています。祝福の幾つかはこの地上にいる間に受けます。また他の幾つかは次の世で受けるのです。

One thing that is absolutely guaranteed to happen is that everyone of us will have to stand before the judgement seat of Christ and be judged for our actions and decisions here on earth.  

間違いなく確かに起こることのひとつは私たちすべてがキリストの裁きの場に立たねばならず、この地上での行いや選択について裁かれねばならないことです。

No one is exempt.  No one can hide. No one can avoid that judgement. 

例外はありません。誰も隠れたりその裁判を避けたりできないのです。

As we go through this next week, let’s remember the great principle that Mormon taught us.  Let’s prepare each day for that ultimate judgement. Let’s remember that there are commandments and that there are consequences.

モルモンが教えてくれた大切な原則を忘れないように新しい週を過ごしましょう。毎日その最終の審判の日のために準備しましょう。戒めが存在すること、自分の選択の結果が存在することを忘れないようにしましょう。
