さて、肉体の死と呼ばれる死がある。そして、キリストの死は将来この肉体の死の縄目を解き、すべての人がこの肉体の死からよみがえる。霊と体は再び結合して完全な形になり、手足も関節も、ちょうど今のわたしたちのような、その本来の造りに回復される。そして、わたしたちは今持っている知識を保ったまま、神の御前に連れ出されて立ち、自分のすべての罪をはっきりと思い出す。アルマ書１１：４２－４３
Now, there is a death which is called a temporal death; and the death of Christ shall loose the bands of this temporal death, that all shall be raised from this temporal death. And the spirit and the body shall be reunited again in its perfect form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even as we now are at this time; and we shall be brought to stand before God, knowing, even as we know now, and have a bright recollection of all our guilt. Alma 11:42-43
This scripture from Alma reminds us of one of the most basic principles of the gospel. In this scripture, Alma and Amulek are preaching to the people in Ammonihah. The people in Ammonihah had rejected the gospel. Alma and Amulek went there to teach the people and to call them to repentance.
アルマ書のこの聖句は私たちに最も基本的な福音の原則を思い起こさせています。この聖句ではアルマとアミュレクがアモナイハの人々に教えを説いていますが、アモナイハの人々は福音を拒絶しました。アルマとアミュレクは彼らに教え悔い改めを叫ぶためそこへ行ったのです。
One of the only guarantees in this life is that we will all die someday. No one is exempt. Everyone who is born must eventually die. We all will pass through that change we refer to as temporal death, or the death of the physical body.
この世で確かに起こることの一つは私たちは間違いなくいつかはこの世を去るということです。誰一人例外ではありません。この世に生を受けたものは誰でも最終的には死にます。私たちはこの世の死または肉体の死と呼ばれる状態の変化を経験します。
The good news of the gospel is that all mankind will be redeemed from this temporal death by the great Atonement and Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Just as everyone will, without fail, suffer death, so everyone will, without fail, be resurrected. Resurrection is a free gift to all, both to the wicked and to the righteous.
福音のよい知らせは人類がすべて救い主の贖いと復活によってこの世の死から救われるというものです。誰もが間違いなく死を経験するように、誰もが例外なく復活するのです。復活は善人にも悪人にも与えられている無料の贈り物なのです。
To be resurrected means that our spirit and our body will be once again united. No matter what we may have suffered during this life, our resurrected body will be perfect. It will be completely restored to its “perfect form”. A resurrected body is an eternal body and will never die again.
復活するとは私たちの霊と肉体が再び一つになるという意味です。この人生でどんなことで苦しみ悩んでいたとしても復活体は完全になるのです。「完全な形」として復活するのです。復活体は永遠の体であり二度と死ぬことは無いのです。
Alma teaches us that when we are resurrected, we will be brought to “stand before God”. We will remember all of our sins. We will remember all of our guilt.
私たちが復活する時「神の御前に連れ出されて立つ」とアルマは教えています。そこで私たちはすべての罪や罪悪感を思い出します。
Alma taught the people in Ammonihah that today is the time to repent. He gives us this same warning. We need to repent today. No one knows if they will be alive tomorrow. No one knows when it will be too late to repent.
アルマはアモナイハの民に今が悔い改めの時だと教えました。彼は私たちに同じ警告を与えています。私たちは今、悔い改める必要があります。誰も自分が明日生きているかどうか、また悔い改めに間に合うかどうかなどわからないのです。
If we repent and keep the commandments, we will not “have a bright recollection of all our guilt” when we are brought to stand before God. Through the Atonement of our Savior, we can repent of our sins and become clean.
悔い改めて戒めを守るなら、神の御前に連れ出されて立つ時「自分のすべての罪をはっきりと思い出す」事はなくなります。救い主の贖いを通して私たちは自分の罪を悔い改め、清くなれるのです。
The Lord wants us to repent. Nothing that we have ever done puts us beyond the love of Jesus Christ. No matter what we have done, we can still repent. We can return to the Lord. We can become clean.
主は私たちに悔い改めるよう望んでおられます。イエス・キリストの愛の力を超えることなど私たちには何もできません。私たちは何をしようとも悔い改めはしなければなりません。私たちは主のもとに戻ることができ清くなれるのです。
As we go through this next week, let’s remember the warning given to us by Alma. Let’s remember how short and uncertain this life is. Let’s choose today to repent and keep the commandments. Let’s remember that death is certain. Let’s remember too, that the resurrection is certain. Let’s repent and prepare for that great day when we will “stand before God”.
アルマが与えてくれた警告を忘れないようこの新しい週を過ごしましょう。人生は短く、はっきり分からないことも多いことを忘れないようにしましょう。今から悔い改めて戒めを守るようにしましょう。死は必ずやってきます。復活も必ずやってきます。私たちが「神のみ前に立つ」素晴らしい日のために悔い改め、準備しましょう。
