And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.  Moroni 10:4-5

One of the great blessings of the Restored Gospel is that we have the opportunity to learn for ourselves if something we are taught is true or not. We are never expected to believe something just because someone else said that it was true.

We usually use the scripture in Moroni when talking about The Book of Mormon.  We teach investigators that they can know for themselves that The Book of Mormon is true. We have each followed this teaching and have each received a testimony that The Book of Mormon is true.

But this scripture is not limited to just The Book of Mormon.  We can apply the same principle to any teaching. Moroni says “by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”  Not just some things.  All things.

Our loving Heavenly Father has given us this guide to help us know right from wrong as we go through this life.  He has given us a way to always know what is right.

We have just had a wonderful General Conference.  I hope that you were each able to participate in some, or all, of the Conference.  We were taught many things by the Lord’s Apostles and Prophets.

All of the messages from Conference are now available on the lds.orgweb site.  We can listen to all the messages in either English or Japanese.  It is our responsibility and our duty now to study the things that we were taught and to find out if we were taught truth.

Just as we have the opportunity to find out for ourselves is a teaching is true, we also have the duty to find out if it is true.  By doing this, we can always be sure we are following correct teachings.  If we study the messages of Conference and then follow Moroni’s instructions, we too will be able to know that what we were taught is true.

I am grateful to have living Apostles and Prophets to guide us.  I am grateful to have the opportunity to study their messages now.  I am gratefully for the opportunity to find out for myself that these things are true.

Let’s all have a great week!
