もしあなたがたがわたしを愛するならば、わたしの戒めを守るべきである。ヨハネ書１４：１５
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
The whole gospel is summarized in this one short verse. This tells us everything that we need to do in this life to be happy.
福音全体がこのひとつの短い聖句に要約されます。私たちがこの世で幸せになるためにしなければならないことをすべて教えています。
We all love the Lord Jesus Christ. We all want to follow him. We have all been baptized and have become members of his true Church.
私たちは皆、主イエス・キリストを愛していますし主に従いたいと願っています。私たちは皆バプテスマを受けて主の真の教会の会員になりました。
What do we need to do now?
それでは私たちは今何をすべきでしょうか？
In this simple scripture, we are told what we need to do. We need to keep all the commandments.
この短くわかりやすい聖文では私たちがすべきことを教えています。それはすべての戒めを守る必要があるということです。
There is no secret. There is nothing hidden. There is nothing different for other people.
何の内緒ごともありません。（すべての人に共通で）ほかの誰かだけ特別ということもありません。
We all have the same rule. No one has an easier path. No one has a more difficult path. We are all equal.
私たちには皆同じルールがあります。誰一人としてより楽な道はありませんし、誰一人としてより難しい道もありません。私たちは皆平等なのです。
Many people say with their words that they love the Savior. But that is not what this scripture teaches us. It is not enough to just say that we love the Savior.
多くの人は口では救い主を愛していると言います。でもそれはこの聖句が教えていることではありません。口で救い主を愛しているというだけでは十分ではないのです。
If we really love Jesus Christ, we must show that love by keeping his commandments. We show our love to our Savior not by words but by our actions. We show our love by doing the things he asks us to do. We show our love by serving others.
もし私たちが本当にイエス・キリストを愛するならば、彼の戒めを守ることでその愛を示さねばなりません。私たちは言葉ではなく行動をもって救い主への愛を示すのです。私たちは行うように言われたことをすることで私たちの（救い主への）愛を示すのです。私たちは他の誰かに奉仕することで私たちの愛を示すのです。
What a wonderful thing! Everyone who loves the Savior can do this.
何とすばらしいことでしょう！救い主を愛するすべての人はこうすることが出来るのです。
It does not say that we must do some big miracle. It does not say that we must have an important calling. It does not say that we must be wealthy. It does not say that we must be famous.
何か大きな奇跡を行うようにとは言っていませんし、何か重要な召しを受けるようにとも言っていません。裕福であるようにとも言っていませんし、有名である必要もありません。
It just says we must keep his commandments.
ただ主の戒めを守るようにと言っているのです。
As we begin this new year, may we work harder to keep all the commandments. May we work harder to show our Savior that we love him. May we show that love not just by our words, but by our actions too.
新年を迎えるにあたり、私たちがすべての戒めを守るためにいっそう頑張れますように。私たちが救い主を愛していることを示すためにいっそう頑張りましょう。ただ言葉のみでなく行動でもその愛を示すようにしましょう。
I know that if we do these things, we will receive all the promised blessings. I know that if we keep the commandments, we will feel the love our Savior has for each one of us. I know that if we keep his commandments, we will have greater faith. I know that these things are true.
私はこれらを行えば約束されたすべての祝福を受けると知っています。私は戒めを守るならば救い主が私たち一人一人に持っておられる愛を感じると知っています。私は主の戒めを守るならばより強い信仰を持てると知っています。私はこれらのことが真実だと知っています。
