Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the Lord. Doctrine & Covenants 87:8
In Doctrine & Covenants Section 87, the Lord warns the Prophet Joseph Smith about the coming of the American Civil War. The Lord tells him about the terrible trials and suffering that will come because of the wickedness of the people.
教義と聖約の87 章で主が預言者ジョセフスミスにアメリカ独立戦争が起こるだろうと警告しておられます。主は人々が邪悪の故まねく酷い試練と苦悩について彼に伝えられました。
In the very last verse of that section, the Lord gives this instruction to the Prophet. We can benefit from this same instruction in our own lives.
この節の最後で主はこの指示を預言者に与えられました。私たちの生活にもこの同じ勧めが役立つことでしょう。
What does it mean to “stand in holy places”? What are “holy places”?
「聖なる場所に立つ」とはどういった意味でしょうか？「聖なる場所」とは何でしょう？
The first thing we think of is the Temple.
まず最初に考えられるのは神殿です。
The Temple is the most holy place on earth. The Temple is a place where we can receive revelation from the Lord. It is a place where we can receive greater spiritual strength. It is a place where we can serve our ancestors.
神殿はこの地上で最も聖なる場所です。神殿は私たちが主から啓示を受けられる場所です。より大きな霊的な力を受けられる場所です。私たちの先祖に奉仕できる場所です。
To enter the Temple, we must be worthy. We must keep the commandments. We must be clean.
神殿に入るためには相応しくなければいけません。戒めを守らねばなりません。清くなければいけません。
It is important to prepare to “stand in holy places”. As we prepare to “stand in holy places”, we will do those things that will give us greater faith and a stronger testimony.
「聖なる場合に立つ」準備をする事は大切です。「聖なる場合に立つ」準備をするためこれらの事をすると、より強い信仰と証しを受けるのです。
A temple recommend is one of the most valuable things we can have in this life. Even if we are not able to attend the Temple frequently due to distance or circumstances, we should always have a current temple recommend. If you do not now have a current temple recommend, please start now to prepare today to “stand in holy places”.
神殿推薦状はこの世で手にできる最も価値あるものです。たとえ距離や状況が許さなくて頻繁に神殿に参入できなくても有効な神殿推薦状を持っているべきです。もし現在、有効な神殿推薦状を持っていなければ、「聖なる場合に立つ」準備を今、初めてください。
The second thing we think of when we think about “standing in holy places” is our own homes. It is in our own homes that we teach our families about living the gospel. It is in our own homes that we read the scriptures and say our prayers. It is in our own homes that we show the Lord that we love him and want to keep his commandments.
「聖なる場合に立つ」事を考える時、次に考えるのは私たち自身の家です。福音に従って生きる事を家族に教えるのは私たちの家庭の中です。聖典を読み祈りを捧げるのは私たちの家庭の中です。私たちが主を愛し、主の戒めを守りたいと示すのは私たちの家庭の中です。
After we “stand in holy places”, then what do we do?
「聖なる場合に立」った後、何をしますか？
In this scripture we are commanded to “be not moved”. This means that we must continue to do all that the Lord has commanded us to do. It is not just a one day, or a one month, or even a one year task. “Be not moved” means to endure to the end.
この聖句の中で私たちは「動かされないように」と戒められました。それは主が命じられた全ての事を行い続けねばならないということです。それは単に一日や１ヶ月、また１年だけ行なうのではありません。「動かされない」とは最後まで耐え忍ぶことなのです。
I know that, as we “stand in holy places”, we will be protected. We will be protected from evil. We will be protected from danger. We will be protected from temptation.
「聖なる場合に立つ」とき私たちは守られることを私は知っています。私たちは悪から守られ、危険や誘惑からも守られるのです。
Let’s work harder this week to “stand in holy places”. Let’s do all that we can to prepare to “stand in holy places”. Now is the time to make any changes in our lives that are necessary so that we can worthily “stand in holy places”. And, as we “stand in holy places”, let’s work harder to “be not moved”.
今週「聖なる場合に立つ」よう努めましょう。「聖なる場合に立つ」準備ができるよう全てのことを行いましょう。今こそ私たちの生活の中で必要な事は何でも改め、相応しく「聖なる場合に立つ」事が出来るようにしましょう。そして「聖なる場合に立つ」ように、また「動かされないよう」頑張りましょう。
I know that we can do this. I know that the promises of the Lord are certain. As we “stand in holy places”, we will receive all of the promised blessings.
私たちにはそれが出来ます。主のその約束が確かだと知っています。「聖なる場合に立つ」ことで、私たちは約束されたすべての祝福を受けるでしょう。
