また、わたしの思いは、あなたがたがわたしの前にへりくだり、あなたがたの熱心と謙遜と信仰の祈りによってこの祝福を得ることである。教義と聖約１０４：７９

And it is my will that you shall humble yourselves before me, and obtain this blessing by your diligence and humility and the prayer of faith.  Doctrine and Covenants 104:79

This scripture was given as a revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith in 1834.  The purpose of the revelation was to give the Church instruction on how to pay their debts.  However, the same important principles apply to each of us in our own lives.

この聖句は1834 年に預言者ジョセフ・スミスに啓示として与えられたものです。その啓示は教会が負債をどのように返済するかを示すものでした。しかし、その大切な原則は私たち各々の生活にも同じように当てはますのです。

At the time this revelation was given, the Church had many debts and very little money.  They needed the blessings of the Lord to solve this problem.  In this revelation, the Lord teaches us the important steps to follow in order to receive a blessing.   When we need blessings, we need to follow the same pattern.

この啓示が与えられたとき、教会は多くの負債があり、お金も少ししかありませんでした。彼らはその問題を解決するために主の祝福が必要でした。この啓示で主は祝福を受けれるようその重要なステップに従うようにと教えられました。私たちも祝福が必要な時、同じ方法に従う必要があります。

There are several important points in this scripture.

この聖句には重要な点が幾つかあります。

First, we are told that we must “humble yourselves before me”.  This means that we need to repent of our sins.  We must do whatever is necessary to obtain forgiveness.  That may mean meeting with the Bishop to get his help as we repent.  We first need to become clean.

まず、「主の前にヘリくだる」よう教えられました。つまり私たちは自分の罪を悔い改めねばならないと言うことです。赦しを得るために必要なことは全て行わねばなりません。もしかするとビショップに会い必要な助けを受けることかもしれません。まず綺麗になる必要があります。

Next, we are taught that we need to be diligent.  In English, the word “diligent” means “to do something with constant effort, with tireless activity, with attention to detail”.

次に熱心でなければならないと言われています。英語で「diligent」は「たゆまない努力、疲れることなく、細心の注意を払って何かを行なう」ということです。

We need to be diligent in our callings.  We need to be diligent in our home teaching or visiting teaching.  We need to be diligent in our efforts to serve others.  We need to be diligent in keeping the commandments.

私たちは自分の召しに熱心でなければなりません。私たちはホームティーチングや家庭訪問教師においても熱心でなければなりません。私たちは他の人に仕える努力においても熱心でなければなりません。私たちは戒めを守ることにおいても熱心でなければなりません。

Finally, we are taught that we must pray with faith.  We need to trust in the Lord that things will work out correctly.  We need to go forward with faith each day.  

最後に、私たちは信仰を持って祈らねばならないと教わっています。願うことがうまくいくと信じ主を信頼しなければなりません。毎日信仰を持ち前進しなければなりません。

It does not say that our prayers will be answered immediately.  Often, there are things that we need to learn by having trials and problems.  If our prayers were answered immediately, we would not have the opportunity to grow or to learn.  But it is certain that we will receive the answer we need when the time is right.

祈りが即座に答えられるとは述べていません。時には私たちは試練や問題を通して学ばねばならないことがあります。もし祈りが即座に答えられるなら私たちは成長したり学ぶ機会がなくなります。しかし私たちは必要な答えがしかるべき時にやってくることを確かに知っています。

Just as the early Saints received the blessings they needed to solve the problems that they were facing, so we too can receive the blessings that we need in our own lives.  We need to follow the pattern the Lord has taught us.  If we do so, we will qualify for those needed blessings.

初期の聖徒が直面していた問題を解決するのに必要な祝福を受けたように、私たちも個人の生活で必要な祝福を受けれるのです。私たちは主が教えられた方法に従う必要があります。そうするならば必要な祝福を受けるにふさわしいものとなるのです。

Let’s try harder this week to follow these steps for receiving blessings.  Let’s repent and be more humble.  Let’s be more diligent in our service in the Lord’s kingdom.  Let’s pray with greater faith.   Let’s become worthy to receive the blessings that we need.

今週、祝福を受けれるためにこれらのステップに従ってみましょう。悔い改め、さらに謙遜になりましょう。主の王国でもっと熱心に働きましょう。更に大きな信仰を持ってお祈りしましょう。必要な祝福を受けるにふさわしくなりましょう。
