全ての人があらゆる賜物を与えられるわけではない。賜物は多くあり、各人に神の御霊によって一つの賜物が与えられるのである。ある人にはある賜物、またある人には別の賜物が与えられて、すべての人がそれによって益を得られるようになっている。教義と聖約４６：１１－１２
For all have not every gift given unto them; for there are many gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God. To some is given one, and to some is given another, that all may be profited thereby. Doctrine & Covenants 46:11-12
In this section of the Doctrine and Covenants, the Lord teaches the Prophet Joseph Smith about spiritual gifts. Many different gifts are listed.
教義と聖約のこの章は、霊的な賜物について主が預言者ジョセフ・スミスに教えられたものです。多くの異なった賜物が記されています。
The Lord explains that not all spiritual gifts are given to every person. The Lord says there are many different gifts. Some people are given one gift, while other people are given different gifts.
主は全ての賜物が誰にでも与えられているわではないと述べておられます。主は多くの異なった賜物があることを述べておられます。ある人にはある賜物、またある人には別の賜物が与えられます。
Why aren’t we all given all the gifts?
どうして私たちは全ての賜物を授からないのでしょう？
We are taught in this scripture that we each have different gifts so we can help each other.
私たちは互いに助け合えるように、それぞれ異なった賜物を授かるとこの聖句で教わっています。
If we all had great musical talent, for example, we would all be in the ward choir. There would be no one for us to sing to.
たとえば、もし私たちが全員、秀でた音楽の才能を授かっているとすると、私たちは全員ワードの聖歌隊に加わっていることでしょう。そうなると聴いてくれる人がいなくなってしまいます。誰のために歌うのでしょう？
By giving each of us different gifts, the Lord makes it possible for each of us to serve in different ways. Some may have the gift of music, while others have the gift of teaching. Some may have the gift of being a good friend, while others have the gift of missionary work.
私たちにそれぞれ異なった賜物を与えることで、主は私たちが異なった方法で仕えることを可能にされたのです。ある人は音楽の賜物を、またある人は教える賜物を与えられているかもしれません。ある人はよい友達になる賜物、またある人は伝道の賜物を与えられているかもしれません。
Some people try to excuse themselves from serving by saying, “Oh, I don’t have any gifts or talents”. That is not true.
「私は何も賜物や才能がありません」という言い訳で奉仕の機会を断ろうとする人がいます。それは間違っていますね。
In this scripture, we are taught that “to every man is given a gift”. Every man. Not just some. Every man.
私たちは、この聖句で「すべての人は賜物を与えられている」と教わっています。すべての人です。ある特定の人だけではありません。すべての人がです。
In verse 8 of this Section, we are given the commandment to “seek ye earnestly the best gifts”. If we do not yet know what gifts we have been given, we have a duty to find out which gifts the Lord has blessed us with. We have been given a gift. We need to learn about it and to use it.
第８節で、私たちは「熱心に最善の賜物を求め」るよう戒めを受けています。もし自分がどの賜物を受けているのかわからなければ’、主がどの賜物を祝福してくださっているのか見つける義務があります。私たちは賜物を授かっているのです。私たちはそれを見つけ、役に立てなくてはなりません。
Which gift is most important? Which gift is least important?
どの賜物が一番大切なのでしょう？またどの賜物が一番取るに足りないものなのでしょう？
The answer is that every gift is important and no gift is unimportant. The Lord gives each of us a gift so that when we all serve together, all the gifts can be used to help others.
すべての賜物は重要で、重要でない賜物など無いというのが答えです。主は私たちが皆、互いに仕え合い、互いに助け合うために使うことが出来るよう私たち各々に賜物を与えくださいました。
This is our duty, to learn about our own gift and then to use that gift to help others.
私たちが受けている賜物を見つけ他の誰かを助けるためにその賜物を使うことが私たちの務めなのです。
I know that we have each been given a spiritual gift. I know that we have a duty to use our gift to serve others. I know that as we all work together, all of our gifts will work together also to help others.
私たちは各々霊の賜物を授かっていることを私は知っています。私たちはその賜物を使い、人に仕える務めがあることを知っています。私たちが一つになって働く時、すべての賜物がともに働き助け合い、他の人を助けることが出来るのです。
Let’s try harder this week to learn about our own gift. Let’s try harder this week to use our gift to serve others. Let’s try harder this week to do our duty.
今週、自分自身の賜物についてよく考えて見ましょう。人に仕えるために自分の賜物を頑張って使ってみましょう。自分の義務を頑張って果たしましょう。
