In this short scripture, we are taught very clearly what we must do in this life.
この短い聖句は私たちがこの世でなすべき事を明確に教えています。
We all believe in God and in his Son, Jesus Christ. We all believe that the gospel is true. We all believe in the words of the prophets.
私たちは皆、神と御子イエス・キリストを信じています。福音が真実だと信じていますし、預言者の言葉を信じています。
The question for each of us is: how do we show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we really believe all those things?
ここで私たち一人一人への質問があります。天父とイエス・キリストに私たちがそれらの事を信じているとどのように示すのでしょうか。
This scripture teaches us the answer to that question.
この聖句はその質問への回答を与えています。
If we believe those things, if we love Heavenly Father, if we love Jesus Christ, we are to serve him and keep all his commandments. This is the first requirement.
もしそれらの事を信じており、もし天父を愛し、イエス・キリストを愛しているなら、私たちは天父やイエス・キリストに仕え、すべての戒めを守るはずです。これが最初の必須条件です。
There is nothing tricky about this commandment. There are no exceptions. There are no exclusions.
この戒めには何も裏などありませんし、例外もありません。
We show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we love them as we serve in our callings. We show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we love them as we serve those around us in the Church. We show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that we love them as we serve the poor and the needy.
私たちは自分が受けている召しを果すことで天父とイエス・キリストを愛していることを示します。教会でまわりの人に仕えることで天父とイエス・キリストを愛していることを示します。私たちは貧しく助けの必要な人に仕えることで天父とイエス・キリストを愛していることを示します。
It is through service to others that we demonstrate our love and our faith.
他の誰かに仕えることをして私たちは自分の愛や信仰を示すのです。
The second requirement is also very easy to understand. We are to keep all the commandments. That is easy to understand, but very hard to do. But that is the commandment that we have been given.
２番めの必須条件もとても理解しやすいものです。全ての戒めを守るということです。それはわかりやすいものの、行なうのことはとても難しいです。しかしそれは私たちに与えられている戒めなのです。
Will we sometimes fail? Yes. Every day, every one of us makes mistakes. No one has ever lived a perfect life except for our Savior Jesus Christ. Luckily, there is the great principle of repentance.
私たちは時々失敗することがありますか？はい。毎日、私たちの誰もが間違いを犯します。私たちの救い主イエス・キリストの他に完全な生き方をした人はいません。幸いにも私たちには悔い改めの原則があります。
The Lord loves us. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to progress. He wants us to be worthy to return and live with him once again. When we make mistakes, as we surely will, we can repent and still qualify for the promised blessings.
主は私たちを愛しておられ、私たちの幸せを願っておられます。私たちが進歩することを願っておられます。主は、私たちが主のもとに戻り再び共に住むにふさわしい者となれるよう願っておられます。誰にでも間違いなく起こることですが、たとえ間違いを犯しても、私たちは悔い改め、約束された祝福を受ける資格を得ることが出来るのです。
I know that if we follow this simple commandment, we will have greater peace in our lives. We will have more happiness. We will have greater love for our Savior.
この簡単な戒めに従うなら私たちは人生で大いなる平安を得ることでしょう。より幸せになり、救い主へより強い愛を持つことでしょう。
Let’s try this week to obey this commandment. Let’s try to serve better. Let’s try harder to keep all the commandments. I know we can do this.
今週、この戒めに従う努力をしてみましょう。もっとよく奉仕をし、すべての戒めを守る努力をしてみましょう。私たちにはそれが出来ることを知っています。
