それゆえ、小さい群れよ、恐れてはならない。善を行いなさい。この世と地獄をあなたがたに対して連合させなさい。あなたがたがわたしの岩の上に建てられるならば、それらは打ち勝つことができないからです。。。。あらゆる思いの中でわたしを仰ぎ見なさい。疑ってはならない。恐れてはならない。教義と聖約６：３４，３６
Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail…..Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not. Doctrine & Covenants 6: 34-36
This world is a difficult place to live in. There are many problems and many evil things. But this scripture teaches us that, through faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, everything will be okay.
この世は住みにくいところです。多くの問題や邪悪に満ちています。しかしこの聖句は主イエスキリストに信仰を持っていることで全てはうまくいくと教えています。
In this scripture, we as members of the Church are compared to a “little flock”. In English, the word “flock” is used to describe a group of sheep. The Savior often referred to himself as the Good Shepherd.
この聖句では私たち教会員を「小さな群れ」にたとえられています。英語の「flock=群れ」という単語は羊の群れを表現するのに使われます。救い主は時折ご自分をよい羊飼いと呼ばれました。
Sheep are not very smart. The shepherd must watch over them constantly. If the sheep wander away from the shepherd, they will be eaten by the wolves.
羊はそんなに賢くありません。羊飼いが常に見守っていなければなりません。もし羊が羊飼いから迷い出るなら、狼に食べられてしまいます。
Unfortunately, we as a “little flock” are sometimes not much smarter than a sheep.
残念なことに「小さな群れ」である私たちも羊とくらべてたいして賢くないときがあります。
We have the true gospel. We have the commandments. We have the scriptures. We know what we need to do to be safe, happy, and protected. Why do we wander away?
私たちには真の福音があります。私たちには戒めがあります。私たちには聖典があります。私たちは安全で幸せであり、守られているために何をすべきか知っています。では私たちは何故、道をそれるのでしょう？
This scripture teaches us that we must be built upon the rock of the gospel. If we are built upon the rock, nothing can hurt us. It is like being in a safe pasture with a loving shepherd watching over us. We will be safe from the wolves of the world.
この聖句では私たちは福音の岩の上に建てられていなければならないと教えています。もし私たちが岩の上に建てられていれば何者も私たちを傷つけることはないのです。それは安全な牧場で愛に満ちた羊飼いが私たちを見守っているのに似ています。私たちはこの世の狼から安全に守られるのです。
So what do we need to do?
それでは私たちは何をすべきでしょう？
We need to look to the Lord in every thought. We promise to do that each week as we take the sacrament. We promise to “always remember him”. Not just when there is a problem, not just when we are in trouble, not just when we are scared. Always.
私たちは全ての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見る必要があります。私たちは毎週聖餐をとる時にそうすると約束します。私たちは「常に主を覚える」と約束します。ただ問題があるときだけでなく、ただ苦難にあるときでなく、ただ怖いときだけでなく、常にです。
And how are we to live our lives? How can we not be afraid? How can we not be fearful?
では私たちは人生をどう生きるべきか？不安を感じないために何ができるのか？恐れないために何ができるのか？
The Lord commands us to “doubt not”. He loves each one of us. He knows each one of us. He knows our challenges, our trials, and our sorrows. He will protect and bless us.
Because of that, we are also told to “fear not”. Fear comes because of doubt. Fear makes us worry about what will happen tomorrow, next week, or next year. Fear makes us afraid to go forward.
主は「疑ってはならない」と戒めておられます。主は私たち一人一人を愛しておられます。主は私たち一人一人をご存知です。主は私たちのチャレンジや試練、悲しみをご存知です。主は私たちを守り祝福してくださいます。
だからこそ私たちに「恐れるな」と言われているのです。恐れは疑いからやって来ます。恐れは明日、来週または来年何が起こるだろうと私たちを不安にさせます。恐れは私たちから前進する勇気をうばいます。
Let’s all work hard this week to look unto the Lord in every thought. Let’s doubt not. Let’s fear not. The Lord knows exactly how everything will turn out in the end. He knows that we will receive all the blessings we are promised. He knows that we will have joy.
全ての思いの中で主を仰ぎ見るよう今週も頑張りましょう。疑わないようにしましょう。恐れないようにしましょう。主は全てのことについて最後はどうなるのか確かにご存知なのです。主は私たちが約束された全ての祝福を受けることをご存知です。主は私たちが喜びを得ることをご存知です。
Doubt not! Fear not!
疑ってはならない！恐れてはならない！
