彼らが食事をすませると、イエスはシモン・ペテロに言われた、「ヨハネの子シモンよ、あなたはこの人たちが愛する以上に、わたしを愛するか」。ペテロは言った、「主よ、そうです。わたしがあなたを愛することは、あなたがご存じです」。イエスは彼に、「わたしの子羊を養いなさい」 と言われた。
ヨハネ２１：１５
So when they had dined, Jesus saith unto Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my lambs. John 21:15
This well-known scripture is from the Savior’s words to Peter, after the resurrection of the Lord. In this scripture, and in the following verses, the Savior asks Peter the same question three times.
この良く知られた聖句は主が復活された後、救い主がペテロに語られた言葉です。ここや後に続く聖句で救い主がペテロに同じ質問を三度尋ねられました。
The question the Savior asks is, “Peter, do you love me?”. Each time, Peter answers the Savior’s question by replying, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
救い主がペテロに尋ねられたのは「ペテロ、私を愛するか？」という質問でした。毎回、ペテロは主の質問に「主よ、そうです。わたしがあなたを愛することは、あなたがご存じです」と答えています。
And, each time Peter answers, the Lord give him the same instructions, “Feed my sheep.”
そして毎回ペテロが答える度に主は「わたしの子羊を養いなさい」と同じ指示を与えられました。
How would we respond to the Savior if he asked us that same question? Like Peter, we would also say, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
私たちも同じ質問をされたら救い主に何と答えるでしょうか？ペテロのように「主よ、そうです。わたしがあなたを愛することは、あなたがご存じです」と答えれるでしょうか？
In return, the Lord might give us the same instructions as he gave to Peter, “Feed my sheep”.
主は「わたしの子羊を養いなさい」とペテロと同じ指示を私たちにも与えられるかもしれません。
Do we love the Lord?
あなたは主を愛していますか？
If we love the Lord, are we willing to show that love by following his instructions? Are we willing to feed his sheep?
あなたが主を愛するなら、主の教えに従うことで喜んでその愛を示したいと思いますか？主の羊を喜んで養いたいと思いますか？
Sheep require a lot of care. They must be watched over constantly. If the shepherd leaves them alone, they will wander out of their pasture. They will eat weeds that will make them sick. They will be vulnerable to wolves or other predators.
羊は沢山の世話を必要とします。常に監視が必要です。羊飼いがほかりっぱなしにしたら牧草地で迷ってしまったり、病気になる草を食べてしまいます。オオカミや他の捕食動物の餌食にもなってしまいます。
The shepherd must provide constant care for the sheep. The shepherd must watch over them at all times. The shepherd must protect the sheep and keep them safe.
羊飼いは片時も目を離さず羊の世話をし見守っていなければなりません。羊飼いは羊を安全に守っていなければなりません。
We have all been given assignments to feed the Lord’s sheep. We do this in many ways.
私たちも主の羊を養うというアサイメントを受けています。色んな方法でそれを行います。
We feed the Lord’s sheep by serving faithfully in our callings. Whether our calling is to serve as the Relief Society president or to serve as the teacher of the Sunbeams or to serve as the person who prepares the program for the Sunday meetings or to serve in any other way, our own individual calling is important. It is one way that we can feed the Lord’s sheep.
私たちは召しを忠実に果たすことで主の羊を養います。召しが扶助協会の会長であろうとサンビームの教師であろうと日曜学校のプログラムを用意する事であろうと、他のどんな召しであろうと、自分が受けている召しは大切なのです。それも主の羊を養う方法なのです。
We also have the opportunity to feed the Lord’s sheep by ministering to certain families. We have the opportunity to help them stay on the covenant path, or, if they have strayed from the pasture, to help them get back to the covenant path. We have the responsibility to strengthen their faith and to minister to their needs, whether temporal or spiritual.
ある家族をミニスタリングすることも主の羊を養う機会になります。彼らを聖約の道に留まる助けが出来ますし、彼らが牧場から迷い出ているなら聖約の道に連れ戻す助けが出来ます。私たちには彼らの信仰を強め、この世的、霊的に限らず彼らに必要な助けがあればミニスタリングする責任があります。
We can also feed to Lord’s sheep by helping those who are not members of the Lord’s Church. The Lord ministered to everyone he met who was in need. We should follow his great example and minister to all those that we meet who need help. The Lord has said that if “you do it unto one of the least of these, you have done it unto me”.
私たちは主の教会員でない人を助けることでも主の羊を養うことが出来ます。主は誰であろうと助けが必要ならばミニスタリングをされました。私たちも主の模範に従い、出会った人に助けが必要であればミニスタリングをする必要があります。主は「この最も小さい者の一人にしたのは、わたしにしてくれたことなのである」と言われています。
Do we love the Lord? If we do, let’s feed his sheep.
あなたは主を愛していますか？そうであれば主の羊を養いましょう。
As we go through this next week, let’s find opportunities to be good shepherds. Let’s find ways to minister to others. Let’s feed his sheep!
良い羊飼いとなる機会を見つけて来週を過ごしましょう。誰かをミニスタリングする方法を探してみましょう。主の羊を養いましょう。
