そして聖霊の力によって、あなたがたはすべてのことの真理を知るであろう。
モロナイ１０：５
And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things. Moroni 10:5
This short verse comes right after the well-known promise of Moroni in verse 4. We are all familiar with verse 4, which is a great missionary scripture. Verse 4 teaches us about gaining a testimony of the Book of Mormon.
この短い聖句は良く知られている４節にある約束のすぐ後に出てきます。宣教師がよく使う聖句である４節は私たちにもなじみがあると思います。４節ではモルモン書の証を得ることについて教えています。
Actually, verses 3, 4, and 5 are also a very clear explanation of how we can receive revelation and knowledge in our own lives about the problems we face each day.
３～５節では私たちが毎日の生活で直面する問題に必要な啓示や知識をどのようにして受けれるのか明確に説明しています。
Starting in verse 3, Moroni teaches us what we need to do when we need guidance from the Lord. He teaches us that we must have faith in God. We must think about the great blessings that the Lord has given to us and to those who have gone before us.
3節から始まる聖句ではモロナイは私たちが主から導きが必要な時に何をすべきかを教えています。彼は神に信仰を持たねばならないと教えています。自分や先祖が主から受けてきた数えきれない祝福について思い起こす必要があります。
Then, we must “ponder it in your hearts”. We are expected to give serious consideration to the problem we are trying to solve. We are expected to look at various options, consider the possible solutions, and attempt to select the best solution.
そして「心の中で深く考え」てみなければなりません。解決しようとする問題についてしっかりと検討してみるよう求められています。色んな方法を探し、可能な解決策について検討し最善の解決策を選んでみるよう求められています。
The Lord expects us to use all of our abilities first. We cannot just ask the Lord for a solution or for help and expect him to give us the answer without any effort on our part.
主は私たちにまず自分の全能力を使うよう期待しておられます。ただ主に解決策や助けをお願いするようなことはできません、自分でできる努力もせず答えを与えていただくよう期待してはいけません。
Next, we are to pray with faith. We are to ask “with real intent”. We are to have faith that we will receive the answers that we need.
次に私たちは信仰を持って祈らねばなりません。「誠心誠意」尋ねればなりません。そして私たちが必要としている答えを受けるという信仰を持たねばなりません。
Moroni teaches us that if we follow these instructions, the Holy Ghost will “manifest the truth” to us.
モロナイはこの教えに従えば聖霊が私たちに「真実なことを明らかにして下さる」と教えています。
Note that it does not say that the Holy Ghost will give us the answer immediately. It does not say that the Holy Ghost will give us step by step instructions for solving the problem completely. It does not say that it will not require additional effort on our part.
聖霊はすぐに答えてくれるとは述べていないことに注目してください。聖霊は問題を完全に解決するまでのすべてのステップを教えてくれるとも述べていません。そして自分が更なる努力をする必要がないとも述べていません。
But, in the proper time and in the proper way, the answers that we seek will come. The Holy Ghost will give us the direction and instruction that we need. The Holy Ghost often speaks in a still small voice, so we need to listen carefully.
しかし、適切な時に適切な方法で探している答えがやってきます。聖霊は私たちが必要としている指示や教えを与えてくれます。聖霊はかすかな小さな声で語りかけるので注意深く聴き逃さないようにしなければなりません。
The promise that we can know the truth of all things by the power of the Holy Ghost is not limited to gaining a testimony of the Book of Mormon. The Holy Ghost can help us with any problem or challenge we face in life.
聖霊の力によって全ての事の真理を知ることができるという約束はモルモン書の証を得ることに限りません。聖霊は私たちが人生で直面するいかなる問題や試練をも助けてくれるのです。
There have been many times in my life when I have struggled with a problem, trying to figure out a solution. Many problems have nothing to do with the gospel. Maybe I am having a problem as simple as how to correctly build something or how to repair something. Since it is not a gospel issue, I forget that the Holy Ghost can still help me.
私も人生において幾度となく問題を抱えて解決策を見つけようともがき苦しんだことがあります。多くの問題は福音とは関係のないものです。たとえばどうやって物を作ったり修理するかといったような些細なことかもしれません。福音とは関係ない事なので私は聖霊がそうしたことを助けてくれことを忘れてしまいます。
I don’t know why I have to learn this same lesson over and over again. The truth is that the Holy Ghost is really, really smart. He can give us guidance and direction on any problem.
何故私は毎回そのことを忘れてしまうのかわかりません。はっきりしていることは聖霊は確かでありとても賢いということです。聖霊は私たちのどんな問題にも導きや指示を与えてくれるのです。
I know that what Moroni taught us is true. I know that the Holy Ghost will guide us and help us to understand how to solve the problems in our lives. The Holy Ghost will help us not only with gospel questions, but with any question that we need an answer for. As long as we do our part, we can “know the truth of all things”.
私はモロナイが教えたことが確かだと知っています。聖霊は私たちを導き生活の中の問題をどう解決したらよいか理解できるよう助けてくれます。聖霊は福音に関わる疑問だけでなく私たちが答えを必要とするどのような疑問でも助けてくれるのです。私たちが自らすべきことをまずすることで「全ての事の真理を知る」ことができるのです。
Let’s do our best to let the Holy Ghost be an important part of our lives. Let’s live so that we can receive the guidance and direction that we need. Let’s remember what Moroni has taught us.
聖霊が私たちの生活の大切な伴侶となるよう最善を尽くしましょう。私たちが必要な導きと指示を受けれるような生き方をしましょう。モロナイの教えを忘れないようにしましょう。
